  1. unusual that nobody has said " this could happen in any country" yet , .........yeah right , ....it could, but it DOES'NT ......

my money is on another electical fault , ...............hope there are no casualties.

What doesn't happen in other countries? Fires or Hotel Fires or Fires in Thailand?

If your are referring to Hotel fires in Thailand then yes, they only happen in Thailand.

    Hotel fires in the news

    Well said Nisa :)

Quite why someone has to be negative about Thailand in this thread is beyond me.

Condolences to the family of the person who died & a speedy recovery to those injuered.

  2. If you have a stand bag with the back-pack type straps then just put it on across your front so the clubs rest on your legs and away you go. I would imagine it would work just as well with a single strap bag. I did get lift as a pillion passenger on a mates scooter with 2 sets of clubs..it was as scary as anything as I couldn't hold on and my legs were burning because I was trying to grip the sides of the scooter with them..but it was as funny as hell..we were both crying with laughter as I kept losing my balance on the corners...I wouldn't recommend it though..lol

  3. An incompetent article by an incompetent writer. All expats are sex deviates and here for only one thing.....insipid beyond belief. Go back to where you left Dan and dig a hole.....and do your research rather than putting all your apples in one barrel.

Well said ricardofel...I couldn't have put it better myself.

  4. "Thaksin said he felt sad for some police officers who bought their way to higher posts. "They want to climb [the ladder to promotion] so they seek loans, extort and do whatฌever they can to get money to give to people in Government House. If the Pheu Thai Party gets to form the government, the party will do away with this illpractice,'' he said."

Well that's another one of Thaksin gems...do as I say not as I do...what a hyporcite!! :whistling:

  5. I'm sure good old Thaksin had this dream a few years back!!...Sure the wealthier visitors spend more money in the high end resorts, restaurants and shopping malls, but it is the mid and low budget visitors that keep the majority of the bars, restaurants street vendors and the likes of MBK in business.

Also the 'new money' from Russia and eastern Europe is fast running out and this has been noticed in the beach resorts where the Russian tourist is spending much less and bartering down the prices much more.

The old saying 'Don't bite the hand that feeds you' springs to mind as it has for many many years been the mid to low budget traveller that has kept Thailands toursit industry in the money and the hotel rooms full.

  6. I suffer with psoriasis and tried all sorts of treatments in the UK...once I was in Thailand I found it eased up mostly because of the soft water and the UV from the sun and the change in diet. Eating the right foode and keeping a healthy life style will really help. This doesn't mean you have to live like a monk though, you can still have your weekend fill of beer.

I also found Clobetasol cream at Boots, it is also packaged as 'Boots Dermo Cream', it can be bought from over the counter. I now use it all the time and the psoriasis is completely under control. I now only have to use the cream from time to time when areas of psoriasis return.

A friend also recommended trying one of those Gara Rufa fish therapy places where the fish feed on your dead skin. I haven't tried it yet myself, but have read up on it and it seems to be highly recommended by experts.

Unfortunately as mentioned by previous posters psoriasis has no cure, but it can be kept under control. Good luck to your friend, I hope he can find a way to clear up the psoriasis soon :)

  7. I'm flying with them in July. I booked with them after they were reccommended by somone where I work. He says the food is pretty good and all the planes are new. They have good reviews on all the websites I've seen. The fact they are cheap helps too.

  8. Try Kingfisher Airways, they seem to be the cheapest at the moment. Also Jet Airways often have deals. Oman Air but their reviews are not the best. And if you dont mind a few stops a friendly Thai travel agent will sort you out with flights with Vietnam Air, they are a partner of Air France. Brand new planes, but u do have to fly to Vietnam then on to France before getting to the UK, and the stop over in Vietnam might be a bit long (up to 8 hours).

Also take a look at Air Asia, they have all sorts of deals going on all the time.

  9. That's depresing news because Carrefour will soon become more Big Crap locations selling low quality junk with limited varieties of non Thai food products. My guess is that business will drop because Big C doesn't have much of a clue what the farang customers want. It will be a downward spiral from here for the Carrefour locations.

    When in Rome!!!

Why should they pander to farang tastes in foods???...Probably less than 1% of their custom is farang...You are in Thailand...eat Thai food !!

  10. BWPattaya,

I don't know much about UK divorce laws, but as I understand it, unless they have children together or she can show that she has made a contribution, financially or otherwise, to any property or business owned by the OP, after such a short marriage there is no reason why a UK divorce court would grant her anything.

However, the OP should definitely seek the advice of a divorce solicitor. Most will give an initial consultation for free.

I think this is correct. As far as I remember from my divorce, some 16 years ago, our respective solicitors argued the toss over who got what, depending on the financial contributions that had been made by both of us during the marriage. Speaking from experience, if things are not on good terms between you and your estranged wife, it is best to have no contact at all with your ex. Let the solicitors deal with everything through official channels between the two of you so that you cannot be accused of any wrong doing. After all they are the experts and that is what you pay them for.

  11. 'Metropolitan Police Division 5 commander Maj-General Anuchai Lekbamrung, meanwhile, said he had instructed the superintendent of the Wat Phraya Krai Police Station to explain why a big pub in his area of Bang Kho Laem district could operate beyond authorised hours.'

Because they paid a hefty bribe to the superintendent and his pals prehaps???
