  1. No connection with tax in my experience but I have bought stuff online and the seller for some lame reason used DHL. Each time, when I checked the tracking, the parcel took one day from BKK to CM and about four days in Chiang Mai to be delivered. Everyday the status was "Uncontactable [Provided address and/or contact number is incorrect]" which is a blatant lie because when I contacted the customer service, everything was correct.
    They are very incompetent.

  2. I went there yesterday (17/06/20) for renewing my GF's driving license and I asked info about how to renew my 5 years license which I have to renew before March the 6th.
What a pain! They absolutely wanted to see my passport to give me info and told me I cannot have a driving license if I don't have the proper visa while my 5 years driving license was in their hands all along. Like they did not believe I had a working visa...

Finally they gave me a paper with some info (which I attached).
Medical certificate is mandatory, they told me that my work permit could not replace a certificate of residency, it's crossed out on the paper. The site of the Department of land and transport specifies that the work permit is fine. However, I am pretty sure that the Chiang Mai office does not care about that. They must have friends waiting for my 500 baht at the certificate of residency office...

  3. If there are say 10-15 ladies in a shop being held and forced to do nasty things that they do not want to do. Why do they not on mass, stand up, beat up the owner and walk down to the police station.

Sounds like there must be more to the story.

Because they will be beaten by the cops too. If owners are not cop themself, then they are very well acquainted.
  4. Racial discrimination.... does anyone in Thailand know those words?

Do you know the meaning of the word "race"?

Well considering that the topic is about migrant workers which are of a different 'race' as Thais. Then I am assuming he does understand the word race as his comment is 100% pertinent.

The actual irony is YOUR statement which indicates that YOU don;'t seem to assimilate the word race with his comment for some strange reason.

You seem not to know the difference between race and ethnicity /nationality like your friend
Racial discrimination is the proper term in this case. You talk about "race", so can you explain why the word racism can apply for example to nations of Europe which hate(d) each other but are of he same "race" and sometime of the same ethny.

Many Thai are racist toward Burmese, this is racial discrimination.

  5. "Police say they arrested Surasak and Chuen Wamakhan, an accomplice who was allegedly serving as a lookout, shortly after the tourist filed a complaint."

This reinforces my opinion that, the flatfoots generally know what's going on and can apprehend the maggots if compelled... wai2.gifwai.gif

A police colonel once told me the same thing: Don't think for one minute we don't know exactly what is going on everywhere and by whom. Whether or not we choose to do anything about it is our affair. We are not as stupid as people think...
Doing nothing if the culprit is known by the police is very stupid.
  6. The real problem, other than the complete and total absence of leadership, is that there is no real rule of law in Thailand. Money is the ONLY thing that talks in Thailand and even the police and judiciary are involved. Koh Tao may be the final nail (one hopes).

The entire RTP and judiciary MUST be reformed from the top to bottom, complete with arrests and imprisonment for some of the worst offenders, especially high ranking officials who oversee all the corruption. Until that happens, nothing will change here and Thailand will continue the downward spiral.

Can not agree more but when you remove a rotten fruit, another will replace it asap. It seems that a large majority of Thai who openly condemn corruption are just waiting for their turn. It might not be a culture problem, but at least greed is deeply settled in Thai society.
  7. Whats ironic is that PTP hosted a "Reconciliation Meeting" and invite Nobel Prize winners and leaders to give their views. All of them unanimously said full amnesty should be avoided as it will create more problems. PTP refuse to listen and wasted tax payers money by putting on a show trying to show they want "reconciliation", yet they avoid all the advices and push ahead with the opposite things these foreign guests said.

    No surprise here.
  8. ThaiVisa appears to have become the defacto leading English gathering place for conspiracy theorist to spread their nonsense and make statements that have no basis as fact about a family that case been officially cleared in this case.

If you don't feel comfortable somewhere just move, you will sleep better then.
  9. I can understand it .. if the guy is innocent and some internet hero's destroy his image.. id be pissed too.

If the guy is innocent?? Well yeah, but if he was innocent he would of submitted long ago to a DNA test.

Why ? Because some people don't believe him ?. This is not trial by media. I know that I would be real wary giving off my DNA to the Thai police who knows what happens with it. If there is no real good reason for it I would certainly never give of DNA to satisfy some internet group.

Who knows how convincing his real evidence was for being in BKK. The stuff you guys have not see. It is as if everyone thinks that they are entitled to all the evidence and know the same stuff as the police.

I have a police friend buddy (back in my birth country) he tells me that even there what is printed in newspapers is often far from what has actually happened. I find it amusing to say the least that people think they can do an investigation from behind their computer instead of having the real facts the police is privileged too.

I make no claims about this guy either way, but his reputation is toast either way. This will hunt them for a long time even if not guilty.

But many farangs hate rich Thais with a vengeance because then they cant feel superior. Admit it its much nicer if some HISO is guilty instead of some lowly worker. So there is prejudice too.

If were suspected by many to be the culprit of any crime, I would rush to the police station to show I'm innocent giving tons of samples of my DNA. I would not hide somewhere, unless I had something to conceal, in this case, or in another.

    Wouldn't you do so?

  10. I welcome you to research it. There's a reason I said other labels

let me tell you something the western justice allowing a mass murder as the slaughterer of Utoya,Norway to live in a confortable cell with a playstation and internet ..do you like it?i dont as i dont like drug gang thugs.should they be murdered?no but living in a shit hole until death ?yes

i met thais who like Thaksin..some of them told me "because when he was at power, police fighted the drug..now big problem"

Your Thai friends seem to be smart people, same attract same. About 2000 people killed because they were supposedly involved in drug traffic is a sign of justice for you?

  11. Thailand is the last place in the world I would like one of my loved ones killed. As sad as it is, to then see the graphic images and private details posted for the world to see would make it even harder to deal with.

Could not imagine being the relative of a deceased here.

Where would you like to have one killed then?

Was that humour? I didn't find it funny.
