  1. Like the other I see who have replied to this forum, I went to Mauritius on a 2 week holiday and have never considered returning. The weather for a start was very poor even though we picked the dry season. The beaches were pretty unspectacular and the evening life was drab to say the least. I don't know about living there or the exact details but I can think of far better all round locations. Mauritius I thought was well over-rated. Sorry mate if we are busting your bubble.

  2. How much for baggage? Add another 10 - 20 % onto the costs.

To be fair, mdmayes, Nok Air give you 15 KG hold luggage and another 7 KG cabin luggage allowance free. It goes up in denominations of 5 KG of chargeable baggage after that if you need more than 22 KG. You can also select your seat for free. There are no great frills but for the price they are now offering, its very good value and not exactly in the Ryanair rip off class. So maybe we can't be too cynical.

Who lives in Thailand with their Mother?

    Is the OP a Thai?

Actually David, I do. I encouraged her to move here for health reasons and as she was not interested in going into an O.P. home. My girlfriend takes care of her and my mum gives her money to do so. Everybody happy. That said, I have been seeing my girlfriend for 4 years and bringing her on a date was never requested..especially as my mum was in the UK in those days. Suggest the girl is either interested that the guy is a good person and can talk to the mum to see he takes care of his family or the girl sees an extra ATM machine to fall back on.

  4. The consequences of working illegally or rather working without a work permit can vary to blind eye tactics (for a period anyway) to being thrown out the country with no return, a hefty fine or even jail. In some cases all three. How important is your piece of mind?

  5. You will get a Non Immigrant B visa in Penang. You need however your contract, an invitational letter from the school and a letter from your local education commission which the school has to get for you. Your passport needs to have 6 months availability and enough blank pages. Photocopies of your passport pages, your degree and transcripts are necessary along with two passport photographs. You may be asked for a police clearance from your home country. Not always required but good to have. Its 2000 MLR. Google on others who have made the trip.
