Trav 111,
I suspect the school does not want you for reasons only known to them! I know many foreigners many English that work in rural schools and the school owners have gone to great lengths to assist in work permits for them.
DO NOT WORK WITHOUT A WORK PERMIT! once found out you WILL be deported.
Many schools are happy to have a native speaking English teacher helping their students to learn English, however, a lot do not hold any Degree Qualifications.
Therefore, many schools recognise this and use their influence at the Ministry of Labour to obtain work permits not for Teacher but assisting in the daily coordination for the education of Thai students.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Hello, help and guideance please on this issue.
I am English and married to a Thai National and we currently live in Chonburi Province, we have been married for 7 years.
I have been working at a local school for nearly 4 years, I have a current and valid work permit which was applied for on the basis of my marriage visa.
I renew my work permit annually at the same time as my marriage visa and the school pays my taxes and provides a reciept which I need to apply for my marriage visa..
I have money in a Thai bank and a private monthly pension paid into my Thai account.
I originally arrived in Thailand on a retirement visa which changed to a marriage visa after I got married.
My question is -
If I were no longer married how easy or difficult would it be to obtain a Cat B Visa so that I can continue to work at the same school ?
What documents would I need to supply to apply for a Cat B Visa and where would be the best consulate to go to in order to apply for a B Visa?
Thank you.

Hi, If you are married to a Thai National then apply for a Marriage Visa! You can find all the information, documents and photos you need to supply upon application at Thaivisa.com
You need to reapply every year at your local Immigration Office with a cost of 1,900 baht and then report every 90 days to the same office to varify where you are living, no requirement to leave the country at all.
If you need to leave the country you will need to go back to the Immigration Office to advise them before you leave and they will suspend your marriage visa and give you a re entry visa.
Once you return to Thailand the immigration at your point of entry will give you back your marriage visa, just make sure that it hasnt expired!
Hope this helps and good luck.
