  1. the danger is the guy might have a gun....that thought is probably what stopped the dash driver from getting out and kicking his ass.

In my country that guy may have been confronted by 3 or 4 guys and beaten into a pool of blood then had the shit kicked out of his shiny BMW.

Thais are generally too scared (for the right reasons) to do anything other than smile.

  2. MLM is not a business it's pyramid selling and an outright scam illegal in decent countries. No better than boiler room, 'business'.

you are like a small frog at the bottom of a well looking up and thinking the blue sky you see is all there is.

14yrs this business has been operating......"scam"?...think again chump!

  3. The bar reflects the clientele - and I'm one of them, so if anyone feels insulted, tough. It is what it is, and that's it.

....er...more like...."you are what you are"...and what you eat! thumbsup.gif

  4. Do not sign anything if the police come and investigate.

Im on very good terms with my police both of them, they get their 1000 baht a month visiting money and the odd whisky except for the one who is a non drinker.

They will often come feed my fish If Im out but they dont have time to water as it would take an hour, His son even comes camping on my land if Im in BKK he will go to the land take a few pic to show hes been and e mail them to me, any problem he will give us a call.............basically the majority of the village are childish idiots with nothing better to do all day.

The village comprises at best 10 houses if that, ill wait for the you sound superior responseswhistling.gif

Isn't that the nature of most village/small town environments....just dirty,ugly,gossip-ridden pimples on the planet....in short,HELL = 'other people'.

Oh,by the way there Dragonfly .....don't believe Thai-women can make real money....? One of my wife's colleges is making approx. 1 million baht per month in a MLM business and with many others involved making several times that...ya, I know, my jaw dropped too...I won't even tell you what my wife makes thumbsup.gif

  5. My personal mantra for living in LOS is simply this - Never Get Involved - ...I don't mix with Thais beyond necessity,I remain calm, polite and cheerful in all my dealings but have no interest in neighbor/moo baan happenings nor local/regional politics et.. After 15yrs here I've grown to love this unique quality of freedom that comes in maintaining a state of "aloofness",its a step beyond just "minding your own business" yet it's not isolation nor indifference . And yes,I do speak Thai - in fact I'd have to say that after having some idea about what's going on around me is what led me to not wanting to know...knowledge = bliss.

  6. Good to see Thailand moving rapidly into the 16th century and still believing in magical powers. Well done. Religion(s) like this are the con of the millenia.

forgive me for correcting you... this is not 'religion' and nothing to do with 'Buddhism' it is hocus pokus claptrap for the gullible and ignorant

Buddism, when practiced and understood, is peaceful, loving and compassionate (i.e Dalai Lama) and so there is NO connection between jet setting, sexual deviant or pot boiling 'monks' and Buddhism wai.gif

...BUT, it has everything to do with 'Thai-Buddhism'. Magic-Mindedness is indeed a pillar of 'Thainess'. wai2.gif

  7. Seriously...get a new hobby...Tit for Tat....Take up the Bagpipes!.....anything goes on your own land.

eg.. to my right; is noise pollution from 8am-4pm from a family owned cottage industry....nice people, never heard of a 'good-neighbor' policy.

to my left; is a gifted karaoke system to a young man who suffered a brain injury due to drunken motor bike accident...also now hard of hearing and tone deaf .

Behind; a young farang/Thai couple just moved in,new baby, stereo system and addiction to 'ganster-rap' music....baby not impressed.

In front; 40yr old boy/man with 3 roosters, champion cock-fighters that due their thing around the clock......

saving grace, drop-dead quiet by 9pm(except cocks) .......but, soon to be moving to a mountain-top. biggrin.png

  8. my wife always said that "Thais like to start at the top and then work their way down"...or start big and end small.

She admires the Chinese work ethic of doing the exact opposite.

It is a truism that Thais do like to 'populate' a certain business for a given time then suddenly drop it like a hot rock and move on...perhaps its just the endless pursuit of the 2 for 1 deal.

The Op talks about "greed" bringing down the business ...... but its also greed that is motivating him to jump into the same business....so you have done some math...so what...I hope you have more than just numbers in your head.....wait until you actually run a restaurant ......eventually into the ground.

  9. All good points.

One thing though '2M would change the desirability of the land'.. Does that mean that the selling price is sort of up there?

Because from everything you wrote and a little between the lines, it sounds to me like the land shouldn't be more than 250K per rai as a maximum. (And quite possibly less, if you're buying more than a rai or two).

I ask because you said 'change the desirability' instead of "completely rule it out, obviously". wink.png

    ....250,000 per rai.....cheesy.gif ...........

  10. She may be 30 yrs old but some Thai-women tend to have the emotional maturity of a 15yr old...Thai-men even younger. This all explodes up from under the carefully constructed facade while under extreme emotional duress, such as the 'break-up' scenario. This is only the tip, after this guilt-trip the real psychotic-break will take place...when "love" turns to hate....and lets hope you are NOT around to be found......escape into the pre-dawn fog.......

  11. At our (private) school, Thai teachers haven't had a summer holiday for years, not even a day. Now, they are being told they must work weekends as well until the start of the new semester (through summer).

...thats exactly why Trade Unions were formed 140yrs ago. However, in a Feudalistic, hierarchal society the concept of an organized "union" designed to benefit the worker at the cost of the employer is as comprehendible as the popular Prathon pastime of shooting rubber bands at the sun.
