I have no doubt quite a few see that they belong to a different sector of Thai society which is entitled to more and whatever pleases them and it would be totally unthinkable to disturb their entitled life.

The cabin crewmembers usually 'consider' the non-Thais with a marked disdain, or even plain ignorance or reprieve(*), the Thais being immediately split by them based on some mysterious signs in 3 categories: the cattle, the vulgum and the better people. No-one outside of business-class being given any same-level consideration, with the rare exception of economy passengers accompanying some of the previous.

Nothing special in itself actually: the same medieval mentality as among the self-proclamed Krung Thep "elite", the lower level(!) of cleans toilets and serves food and drinks on THAI...

(* and of course this was in the years BEFORE Covid-19, whatwill it become when they, ever, fly again...?)

  3. Are there any figures available about how much Thai women are 'ripping off' of gullible foreigners?

Or make it even more all-encompassing: the total amount foreigners are bringing into Thailand every year to then fall under control (another expression for 'vanish', 'vaporize') of female (male and in-between) Thais and their relatives?

Let me guess: 1,000 time more: 280 BILLION Baht per year?

(Not justifying the abuse of gullible Thai women's money by foreign con artists, most as black and guilty as hell! Did I write 'black'? Yes, I did, as most of these internet scammers are... black, Africans! May it be 'the flavour of the day', or not, indeed, truth matters...)

Just a response to a slur against Thailand from a someone with a superiority complex.

Would you then possibly be one of those attarded boy-scouts buying their full uniform and all good looking accessories to be allowed to re-enscene that gap in their childhood, pretending to be a policeman with the TP, while not being at all? LOL!

I have almost always encountered respectful and polite immigration officers in Thailand.

Even when I was questioned after coming back in after a hitch offshore on a visa free entry stamp. Showed my Seaman's book, explained I was back after being on the rig and was let in. Even got a smile, thumbs up and a "good job" comment from the IO.

Giving a wai and being respectful goes a long way with them. I've even had a few converse with me in Thai and I nearly always get a smile from them eventually.

On another occasion, I was coming in after an economy flight a couple of years ago and I chanced my arm by using a saved VIP pass from a previous business class flight on a different airline to go through the fast track. The IO, a nice lady, caught me and scolded me for trying to cheat the system. I apologised profusely in Thai, she stamped my passport, smiled and let me in.

I'm very sorry, I didn't realise you were that kind of a guy. Please forget I ever reacted on any post of yours, i won't do it again for sure. And when we once are both on a same packed ferry or so, I will recognise you at once, you with all the free seats around you! Bye!

  7. Hello, hello, anybody there at TV!? Am I on a wrong address here, or do I remember right about some, firm, and appreciated, advice previously given to posters getting involved in repeated attempts to determine the sexual appartenance of angels to switch over to the FORUM part of this site, ...instead of desperately clogging up an otherwise very interesting topic!

Yes thai's should be brought home first definately .but are they been cautious for isolation when they get here which is excellent .more than some countries SELF isolation what a load of <deleted> .well done Thailand for been more savvy.also think which country they are returning from plays a big part.Europe should be last on list

Congratulations "Gilltom", you just earned the smoked herring prize of the day! Now seriously, for a few moments. I have no idea where you could be coming from, but what you write here, and in your previous, erm, "post", when you would not be a thai national, would be hard to apologise for.

everyone has a right to a personal opinion, no doubt. But when you would stand on a stage and read out to the public what you wrote, and I would have been forced to be there, sorry for you, but I would have been throwing eggs, fruit, veggies in all levels of decay at your head. So distressing I find that waste of a babble of yours.

They are worried about importing new cases of c19 ,they kept the borders open and allowed thousands of Chinese in. What did that do to countries when infected people returned home, that action was probably responsible for exhalerating the spread of c19 worldwide

I don't know for sure how many grams of brainmatter are to be found in an average kiwi fruit. I guess "zero", none at all. Now to a guy calling himself Keith, from NZ or not: joke apart, what kind of hotchpotsch did you produce here: mixing those thousands of chinese tourists (which should IMO too not have been admitted in Thailand, or, possibly anywhere else, ) with infected nationals, here Thais (your "people returned home"?), please tell. Not wanting to bury the nail deeper after my "opening", but may I guess you meant: "accelerating" instead of "exhalerating", as "exhaling" though the closest related doesn't make sense, as it can't be you meant "exhilerating" as it would be quite deviant to find anything enjoyable about the Covid-19 pandemic...?

So, please, next time, take a bit more time to put your valuable thoughts together, and think about how to write about these in an intelligible(*) way for us here. Thanks a lot.

(* nothing ado with your intellect, nota bene, but well with writing in an understable way)

Married with my sweet Thai wife, in Thailand AND in my home country, for over 15 years now.

In thailand most of the time, we stay in a comfortable detached house, without direct neighbours, the building is my property, the land hers.

I have a yearly renewed retirement visa, with multiple re-entry for over 10 years now.

And I have for many years a very good, ...and expensive, healthcare insurance from one of the World's top "expat" insurance companies.

I am supposed to fly back to my home country in Europe, alone, mid-september for a 2 weeks stay, I have my plane tickets for (return flight) since February.

What about coming back to Thailand ...to my wife, in our house, at the end of september, 2020...?

When I last came back, on March 20th, no questions asked, nothing (I wore the top-level mask with virus filter), but I imposed myself a quarantine of 2 weeks at our home, and let myself be checked by a specialist MD at the end of it.

Though, as things are today, it looks like I won't have that possibily this time.

It seems clear that most international regular passengers' flights will, progressively, restart by the beginning of July. THAI (the only direct BKK flight), when and if still flying at all, would re-start its flights to/from my home country a bit later, with a reduced frequency.

But will that 14 days quarantine still be imposed in a same way by then? Piled up in an unhealthy jail-like crowded environment, or being made to pay high prices for the least of creature comfort? Is that it?

(Besides, what about the members of Thailand Elite, I am not one of, will they also be imposed a 14 days quarantine, in the same way, ...having paid for 1, at least, Bht.500,000 for a 5 years duration, or will they be allowed a special treatment, ...as if not an infection risk I mean?)

When you'd want to give it the time, I would like to read your opinion on this. Thank you.

"Salerno" I have reasons to be sad, don't know about you, but at least your reacted... It seems all the posters here always having an opinion and/or advice about everything are whether inactive at the time, or have no interest whatsoever in my question, oh well...

Yes, it has surprised me some.  It is deader then dead here.  Kind of nice in some ways noise levels way down near the beach and no crowds.  But, business people and workers are suffering big time.  I would say 75% of GDP here the past few years has been based on Chinese presence.  The locals cannot support this place but after all, it is a tourist town and without them no way Pattaya survives to anything close to what it was.

75% of GDP based on Chinese, hmm, really, based on what may I ask?

Wondered when the ridiculous zero dollar tourism canard would appear--as it always does with a tourism thread.   Guess you missed the part about 1 in 10 Thais being employed by tourism.  If zero dollars stay in Thailand, how are these 1 in 10 Thais being paid?

Obviously, you were never informed (or didn't understand) how the "0$" works, as it does, believe it or not. Look it up by yourself in a hurry when you want to avoid posting such ... stuff as here above! Thanks

At last an honest one (and quite sensible, too).

All these farangs whinging they would happily accept quarantine - forgot how the same farangs wouldn't even wear a mask? Forgot they don't consider Thailand a "civilised country" (cf post #51)? This whole thread mainly consists of posts refusing to accept the legitimacy of Thai rules and regulations - actually a lot of TVF is about this.

    In quarantine they would complain

    - it's too hot

    - room too small

    - room dirty

    - CCTV is unnecessary intrusion into privacy

    - internet is too slow

    - There is no beer!!! And no treatment for alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

    - only Thai food

    - gf is not allowed to visit them during quarantine

    - no English language TV

    - staff speaks Thai

    - breakfast ist served at 7 am

**- 14 days is too long if fifo and only 4 weeks off

and lots of other horrible things.  The horrors they complain about every day in Thailand,  magnified by quarantine.

Very few would accept 14 days quarantine as a reasonable precaution. Most would try to cheat.

TG, you're a very rare nightowl! In the middle ages in Europe(*) considered linked with the devil and hunted down as such. THe BS you write might call for some punishment, but nothing that harsh. But, when you don't yet do, please seriously think about consulting!

(* Europe needed to be specified as the other country is still plunged in medieval situations)

Forget about Kansas, never been there and don't intend to, ever, sorry!

Whatever the Thais accept to do to themselves in their country, the question remains: do YOU agree with fascism, as your post lets, hopefully wrongly, suppose? Simple as that.

  15. Hmm, and how will the Thai people involved in this promotion action have access to the "P.R"China, without the obligatory 14 days quarantine, may I ask? And when they have to "sit it out", I hope they have thought about lettinf the fruit arrive under best conditions about 2 weeks later than them... No-news is news for the no-brainers, lap it up...

    have to disagree here.

thailand makes rules as it pleases. one rule that may be in place in our homes may not be here. harsh reality and tough to swallow but that's life sometimes. mr and jack disagreeing with it makes no difference either.

Sorry, wanted to answer, but the statement in the end is, IMHO, too ridiculous to waste time and energy on to formulate a grown up reaction about.

Just this tiny bit: ANYONE attempting to give any kind of legititimation to fascistoid nationalism, racism and xhenophobia, should be barred by the Nation's moderators watching over the TV site, ...as this important press house has never had any sympathy with such despicable political deviance!

Why do you care about this, is money coming out of your pocket, get a life, I don't think anyone allowed to come back would have any problem having to pay for the quaratine

But, pray tell, why would they in truth have to be made to pay for any consequence of unilateral un-necessary arbitrary measures taken by some pseudo-government, illegitimate as not having pledged the oath to the Constitution it should have been, led by a former general, unelected by any mean, and guilty of high treason for having lead a military coup against a country and institutions he had pledged to serve, and, for having arbitrarily exercised the powers of a PM, and more, since, without any popular mandate!

I know about the distance between principles and reality, but does it give an atom of legitimity to this cartoonesk creature? In your idea, does it? Hmm?

This tells it all. At 79, he cmes to Thailand to find a bride with his meagre pension. Who on earth does that? And I still dont not understand why he loves Thailand. Temples and beaches? Give me a break!

I would give you any broken bone of your choice, "Mulambana", how, possibly, soft minded (stupid?) the man might have been, does it, anywhere(!), justify the ordeal this family of Scrooges exposed hin too? How small his retirement pension may have been, they took it, didn't they? And when it would have been smaller than what his dog's treatment did cost those bastards, do you think they wouldn't have thrown him out on the street, hmm? What a bad person can you be!

Repatriation of Thai nationals is a right that (I believe) is protected in the Constitution and laws of Thailand.

Foreigners have no such rights enshrined anywhere in Thai law and most only remain on temporary visa extensions or permission to say, that can be cancelled on a whim by any immigration official.

Thank you for your instructive last paragraph! When you do personally agree with its content, I guess you would have been a great fan of a certain Phibun Songkram (look it up when you don't know about him).
