Thanks have not done any border runs this year so you think with doing extensions as well on these runs should not be a problem? This year to date have only had one SETV visa, and 30 day exemption.

Hi I need some advice, arrived BKK on a 30 day exempt visa on a Australian passport and will be applying for a 30 day extension here in Chiang Mai to bring my visa to the 27th June, I will be flying out of Thailand mid September 2017. From the expiry (27th June) is it possible do a border run to Mae Sai get 30 days apply for 30 day extension when due in Chiang Mai, repeat the whole process again to bring to mid September to fly out? Has anyone done a back to back border run recently with a extension, are two border runs allowed till August 2017? I am a bit cautious in doing this as it may depend on the IO on the day or has the government changed the rules and regulations again. I can do the visa run to Vientiane for SETV which I have done in the pass. Thanks.

I got a SETV last year in August 2015 on my Australian passport no dramas just make sure you have a copy of your bank statment I had US$ dollars on me to the equivalent to 80,000 LKR this did not suffice. It was a pain trying finding a place to get a copy there are no internet cafes in the area luckly my guest house was not far from the office. The embassy is small and gets very crowded mainly all males queuing for visas can be a bit uncomfortable for a female with the pushing and shoving.

I have just got back from Vientiane with my SETV this was my 3rd visit to the Thai consulate over the last 2 years and this time round the process has changed for the best less queuing. I arrived just after 8.30am waited in queue to hand over passport and application to the person sitting at the table who makes sure everything is in order if so you are given a number where as before they would hand out a number first and you would then have to wait for it to be called to give your passport/application and then wait again to pay for visa. I was done in 30 minutes no payment is required until the following day my number was 48.
Day two this is the best no queuing up to wait for the gate to open and no people pushing in, front the gate opens at 1pm but they do not start calling out numbers till 1.30pm. Your number is the same from the previous day pay the 1000 THB and receive passport at the same time I had mine within 20 minutes so you could say maybe 55-60 passports are handed out in 30 minutes if there are no hold ups. I was at the border before 2.30pm.
Hopefully this helps.
