  1. While I do not subscribe or support an unregulated foreigner land-grab fest; I absolutely believe in 100% legal land ownership and investment for foreigners.

This would eliminate a lot of the real estate schemes, and provide security for the foreigner living, working, raising a family, or retiring in Thailand.

Thai's welcome the foreign tourism money, technological advances, as well as assistance from foreign governments. Investment and ownership would help the local populace advance.

Very sad. It is too bad that the Hamas terrorists caused it and refused to stop shooting rockets into Israel. It was a big mistake electing war criminals to run the Palestinian government.

Going by those principle Britain would have been with their rights to carpet bomb West Belfast while bombs were going off in London. What Israel is doing is Barbaric . If Hamas had tanks and F18s there would be a war , but they don't have that all they have is 2 bob rockets to fire across their own border

Israel is barbaric, is it? Do you realize the genocidal intentions of Hamas against Jews? What Israel did was a pin prick compared to Hamas intentions. Israel is supposed to wait around until Hamas gets strong enough to seriously have a chance? Why should they? Your comparison is daft.

Yes and by doing so are increasing the hatred felt for them, What works in the end is the moderates come to an agreement , unfortunately launching a land and air assault against what is nothing more than a refugee camp isn't going to win many hearts and minds

I believe the operative words you stated "What works in the end is the moderates come to an agreement" -

Are you oblivious as to Hamas terrorist methods and views of Israel, let alone the right to any Jewish individuals right to exist anywhere in the world?

Do you consider Hamas as moderates?

    Hello?

  3. "the French tourist, identified by police as Mr Chadd Attardi"

Is Chadd Attardi a common French name ???

A good tip for all of those that are "suicidal".

Come to Thailand, spend your money, do some sunbathing and take dipp / swim in the surrounding waters of Phuket or Pattaya.

You will never know what "hit" you...

In case you didn't get "hit". Rent a motorcycle....

Have you seen how these morons handle themselves on motorbikes?

They have no regards for anyone else.... They have caused many accidents; unfortunately they aren't always the ones who get hurt.

  4. Hmmm, another cheep shot at the horrible Jewish Zionist country?

Unfortunately, most of you are either ignorant or unaware to the fact that the majority of the Thais employed in Israel earn more then three times what they earn in Thailand or elsewhere.

Oh, and choose to go and don't want to come back...

They are employed for a 6 month to a 1 year term agreement, can return when ever they want, and choose not to...???

  5. Well, I have to say that it's something. But I don't trust Netanyahu or Likud.

A slight easing of the Gaza blockade (as mentioned in the linked article) is good too.....but it's so very sad that we have to rejoice at an easing of something that shouldn't be there in the first place.

Lift the blockade, let the people repair the damage you have inflicted Israel.

You mention blockade? Have you slept with your enemy? How would you react if this was in your backyard or local pub?

Goods & supplies are transferred across all the time even while there was a quasi limited war.

Why don't you blame Egypt for the blockade instead of Israel? Aren't they of Arab brother-in sharing a common border?

  6. In this article and what no one seems to have commented about is the amazing outcome - by which

"In court, Yutthana was sentenced to six months in jail and fined B4,000. Because he had pleaded guilty, the sentence was halved to three months and B2,000, and the jail term was suspended for a year."

"Meanwhile, in a parallel case in the Administrative Court, the Kathu District Officer, the Mayor of Patong and Patong Municipality were accused of giving permission to Yutthana to occupy public beach for profit, but that court dismissed their cases."

This is why this goes on...

    AN EXAMPLE AND A WARNING

At the press conference today a six-year-old case was offered as a warning to sunbed operators who have been clamouring to get back on the beach, even appealing to HM the King.

The case involved Yutthana Tamchu, a member of the Sunbed Operators’ Club in the Patong area. He was taken to court in September 2008 for trespassing on Tritrang Beach two years earlier, by setting out chairs, tables, sunbeds and umbrellas for rent.

In court, Yutthana was sentenced to six months in jail and fined B4,000. Because he had pleaded guilty, the sentence was halved to three months and B2,000, and the jail term was suspended for a year.

Meanwhile, in a parallel case in the Administrative Court, the Kathu District Officer, the Mayor of Patong and Patong Municipality were accused of giving permission to Yutthana to occupy public beach for profit, but that court dismissed their cases.

During his trial Yutthana admitted his guilt but complained that he had been singled out unfairly because other sunbed operators at Tritrang had not been arrested. The judge responded that this was irrelevant.
