Booked a ticket at Thai Airways Pattaya in January 2018 to Khon Kaen in person. A booking fee of 300 baht was charged on top of the advertised price. Before coming back, I asked my girlfriend to try booking tickets  with Thai Airways by telephone. They wanted an extra 500 baht per ticket. We declined and hopped in a taxi to the airport and bought them at the Thai Airways booth at normal price. Saved about 800 baht after taxi fare.

I've found the price on Thai Smile's website is usually better than Thai Airways website for the same trip

Now answer the question - given the numbers involved where are they all going ? Who’s paying for it ?

Stop tarnishing the millions of people with mental health issues with the actions of ONE individual else you risk sounding a little hysterical !

He's only talking about this person and this incident Brainiac. Obviously every person with a mental issue isn't going around committing these sorts of acts against defenceless young children.

This person needs to be removed from society until the authorities are sure he's not going do this sort of thing again.

  3. I'm an Australian national going to Spain for my sons wedding at the end of September with my Thai partner who has been to Australia a no. of times on tourist visas.

We'd also like to visit the UK and possibly one or two other EU countries over a four week period.

From my enquiries it looks like she'll need an EU visa for Spain and a separate one for the UK.

Can anyone please advise a reputable visa agent in Khon Kaen or Bangkok so I might minimise the chances of getting dudded?

Thankyou in advance for any help offered.

Personally I think it would be quite a good idea for tourists to avoid Thailand for the next couple of months. The Thais are deep in loss and need to be given space to come to terms with that.  Given that emotions are so high, is it really sensible for tourists to come here looking to party?  I am sure it will not be welcome to those with businesses here but there is a time and place for everything and now is not the time for party and celebration.  We should all be sensitive to this.

So the business owners and all their employees who rely on tourists should go without any income for two months??

    Don't be ridiculous!

Sort of like the Church of Rome then?wai.gif"

Whilst the Catholic church and other Christian churches have their fair share of baddies and charlatans they also do some good charitable work through organisations such as Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Salvation Army etc.

Do the Buddhists in Thailand have anything similar?

I tell my wife Buddha would be more pleased if she gave her donations to the poor people instead of the monks and the temples.

"Whilst the Catholic church and other Christian churches have their fair share of baddies and charlatans they also do some good charitable work through organisations such as Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Salvation Army etc."

Nonsense, both of those organisations are independent of the churches and the churches do not do any "good charitable work" through them.

Not that I'm a church going person myself but I will give credit where it's due. Regarding your comments on Saint Vincent de Paul Society and Salvation Army in relation to Christian churches, Google them and shine a light on your ignorance

.. good luck & hope you find someone ...

I've been here 15 yrs , built 3 houses ..... and all did shoddy work, unfinished jobs, lack of professionalism

    ...and you're laughing at me??

I think safe to assume recognition of irony is not one of your strong suits.

  8. About a year or so ago my wife had a new kitchen/dining room built onto the back of our house.

The builder didn't make the footings deep enough and consequently the addition is now starting to subside. This has resulted in some large cracks starting to appear in the walls.

Whilst I was out of the country at the time I'm not sure it would have made a great deal of difference as my building knowledge is fairly minimal. For this reason I need someone honest and trustworthy.

I would be grateful if anyone could recommend a reputable contractor in Khon Kaen...preferably one who can speak english.

  9. My Non-immigrant O-A multi-entry visa expires on 1 Sept this year, however it will be touch and go whether I get back to Thailand prior to that date.

From reading an earlier post I gather that if I do arrive prior to 1 Sept my visa will be extended for another year. Is that correct? Or do I have to go through a renewal process at a Thai immigration office?

The other thing I was wondering...is it possible to get an extension/renewal through the Thai embassy in Australia?

Thanks for any advice that's available

  10. The main and underlying catalyst for things such as the protest at parliament and many peoples objection to the burqa and niqab is that this form of attire is one of the tools used to subjugate and make second class citizens of roughly half the population in those muslim countries where it is "encouraged" and enforced.

It always astounds me when I'm walking down the street on a hot day and I see a muslim man dressed in a short-sleeved polo neck shirt with short pants, looking quite comfortable and pleased with himself, being followed by his wife/wives dressed in their portable prisons i.e. burqa or niqab. Can't the muslim men see the hypocrisy in it?

  11. You have to be careful talking about people who are obese and charging them for being overweight, or for taking up extra space because they're squashing the person next to them.

The PC police will get you for what they consider to be sexist, racist, ageist etc and now I hear they may be adding "fattist" to the list!!

Seriously though, airline travel is a lot cheaper these days than it used to be and you don't hear of too many airlines making a profit so I think they have to be pretty careful with the bucks.

    Glad they chucked him off!

  12. I guess, Another victim who had been abandoned by his girlfriend ... Life can be hard. coffee1.gif

How do you come to that conclusion Sherlock??

Because in typical TV fashion he didn't bother to read the whole story before firing off a salvo.

The article clearly states that the Swiss man's girlfriend informed the reporter that he had a heart condition and suffered from mental health issues.

And what's the point of reading the whole story if you don't understand what you've read before firing off a salvo?

It says the girlfriend of the Swiss man's son was tracked down by police...not the Swiss man's girlfriend!

  13. Hi,
I'm on a double entry 60 day TR Visa issued in Australia and currently staying in Khon Kaen. Ultimately I'd like to get a retirement visa.

I entered Thailand on 17 April and have leave by stamp of 15 June. The enter before date is 7 July.

I have to go to Bali for 4 days on 24 July.

I am thinking of driving from Khon Kaen to Vientiane to get the 60 day extension before 15 June and was wondering if someone can confirm this is ok to get in Vientiane, and also offer any tips for expediting the process when I'm there.

The other thing I need to find out; is it possible to get a retirement visa when I'm in Bali or can I only get it in Australia?

Thanks for any relevant advice you can offer wai2.gif
