  1. New policy order from BKK, have many poblaem with bad foreigner!

definition of bad poblaem farang: any despicable alien character characterised by the audacity or gall to want to remove his very own money from noble thailand to any non thai place .sheesh how despicable can you get that is the lowest of the low.

  2. An ant in your soup is just considered extra protein.

be careful of these thai ants. there is a very small black one that like sweet things. they are toxic even one in you food or has been on your food and it will cause you stomach problems at the least possibly other longer term complications at the worse eg liver problems.

fortunately it has a very strong smell which you will immediately recognise after you get done a few times.

  3. more likely to be hydrogen sulphide this is the usual suspect comes from decaying naturally occuring sulphur in organic matter notably fish. it is know as rotten egg gas and in high concentrations cannot be smelled with the nose.

we had a "spear" into the aquifer with a pump on top to get underground water for watering the garden, no danger involved

  4. my impression and experience is that when baht is appreciating the banks will off load their foreign currency to you and in vice versa you wont be able to buy foreign currency.

note the price fixing on many products, it is not a free market system my guess is the same happens behind the scenes for the baht they are told when they can sell and when they cant, but you are not privy to that info or mechanism

  5. I'd be more interested in if you could do it rather than the price.

My experience, with a couple of banks, is that they want to know the ins and outs of why you want to send the money and they want documentary evidence, and make it very difficult. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it's not straightforward.

You can set up online transfers, but again you need to visit a bank branch to submit the proof.

This is Kasikorn's procedures, other banks may make it easier http://www.kasikornbank.com/EN/Personal/OtherProducts/KMoneyTransfer/InternationalMoneyTransfer/Pages/GlobalOutward1.aspx

i'd also add that what you see written on the website, and you actually getting that scenario at any random branch are very remote possibilities.

  6. I have read several reports saying that the Asus Zenfone 4 has a GPS option , and some reports that say the Zenfone 4 does not have GPS

    can any one confirm ?

most any phone that has 3g internet can do google maps app which is free and good enough for me to be able to find myself and what i am looking for. not to mention, tell me what bus to catch, where and at what time around bkk metro.

  7. was at aranyaprathet border market the other day doing things for an hour or three and not once did anyone approach or yell at me. this is the first time that i can ever report that to be so in the multiple times i have needed to visit over a nearly two decades period., perhaps the same enforcement has been put into effect there too. or perhaps i was just extremely extremely lucky. previously the place has been a haven of touts and scam artist.

  8. met one cambo girl in pp who had done three months as a english student using headstart. she was so proficient that i would asses her as practically a native english speaker and listener. i was stunned given my abysmal failures in both cambo and thai, cambo is easier for me as it is not tonal which is also possibly why english is easier for cambos than thais..

example went into seven to get a bacon smokey bite. do you think i could get the three thais behind the counter to understand the bacon? no chance even though in thai it is the same word as in english, as in a loan word. and they could understand the smokey bite bit. now i grab the picture display out of its holder and point if i want bacon smokey.

  9. two times in the past when these thai financial institution refused to do what they are supposed to resulted in me losing a hefty percentage of my investments.

first time was a couple of days before the baht crashed in the financial crisis i went in to get a demand draft in usd purchased with my thai baht for virtuall 100% of the thai baht i held. they balk and refused and simply wouldnt do it. subsequently i lost heavily,

second time was the same day thai time the us financial crisis hit. i went in and added extra money to my account so i had enought capital to be able to short and at the same time asked to short. they said you have to wait till you have a closing amount above the capital limit for shorting. it closed lower than required then that night the us crisis hit,

it is the thai business model and theory: everything will be ok if we all go bankrupt together.

    take care all.
