  1. Bear in mind when you import a laptop, the x-ray machines cannot see what is in the package properly. Like when you have to take your laptop out of your bag when you go through airport security. Customs are more likely to open a package containing a laptop than an average parcel for this reason. I don't work in Thai customs but it's possible that they will almost always do so.

Which means, almost certainly 30% import tax. Unless you can try and make it look used or take the screen or keyboard off and try and get it through as spares, but you're still leaving yourself open to the discretion of a customs officer.

Unless the potential saving buying abroad compared to in Thailand is significant, or the particular model is very high-end/expensive, it's not worth the hassle.

    I like Pantip Plaza.

  2. But she was not being a responsible parent insofar as she was not controlling what the kid was doing.

Yes there should be a system in place to prevent such an event but not knowing what your kid is doing is a dereliction of her parental responsibilities.

If this kid goes on this way he will by the time he is 15-16 be an absolute little ar$ehole and running loose not attending school, raping, drinking, fighting etc.

Most retarded thing I've ever heard. And that was before I got to the rape thing.

  3. "I love God and my country, I honour the flag, I will serve the Queen, and cheerfully obey my parents, teachers and the law".

So not only do you condone the forced preaching of a mythical being in an educational establishment, you advocate it as beneficial? It's brainwashing and should come with age restrictions to protect impressionable children from influential bible bashers in their lives.

  4. I made this thread half a day before you George, you deleted it, placed me on "moderation queue" and sent me this message:

Do not post unconfirmed rumors. This is illegal and get get you and the site into trouble.
Then you go and make the same thread for yourself a day later, bit cheeky don't you think?
My thread was made before this one, and matched it in content:
That thread is an unconfirmed rumour.
Yet this one stays when mine is locked, why? Because it was made by a mod?
Your moderation is heavy-handed and unnecessary. In short you're a bit of a plonker.
You read my message to you on 2014-06-13 17:00 and no reply as yet hence why I'm posting here.
Steps you need to take to resolve your error:
    Apologise.
    Credit me in the article.
    Get an education.
    Many thanks
  5. Most of this is speculation at the moment but the general consensus floating around Facebook and the area involved seems to be that this guy has had a lot of accidents before. He does not usually drive and has a driver, but did not at the time of this accident. He had a row with staff and sped off, unknown yet if drunk but some reports suggest he may have been. Using the epilepsy as a cover story, allegedly. The row doesn't seem to be in dispute.

If this ever went to court, I struggle to see how it could be proven that he did not have a fit, if indeed he does have epilepsy.

  6. For those of you who're familiar with this, is it only Thong Lor/Ekkamai? Or just concentrated there?

I'm not a user but I don't want to be put in a situation with a corrupt cop trying to frame me.

I'm guessing they'd be more likely to go after younger guys than your 60-somethings?

  7. It sure beats waking up in the morning in the UK and having to get dressed under the duvet to keep warm. Having to sprint to the toilet or the fridge and then quickly back to the bedroom.

Plus the cost of the heating, far more expensive than an aircon.

Stop moaning, heat is brilliant, long live the sun.

  8. In my experience I've always found that people who worship the heat are a little, well, simple..

Oh, and freezing your toes off is pleasant. "people who worship the heat are a little, well, simple.." Really?

    I don't think I said that did I.

What was that you were saying about simple people, Pat? Sun got to you today has it?
