  1. @HoudiniXLogic Nice read, 8 in 2hrs is still a good catch! I had yet to catch 8 in 2hrs with 1 rod.

The shrimps seem to feel excitement haha, those grannies are calm so they will bite more i guess ????

They bite really slow, the small ones are the hardest to catch. The big ones will begin to slowly let the bait enter their mouth, and will then agressively jerk on your rod. A barbhook is a musthave for us. But pros can get by with a regular hook.

Thanks, yes Rayong city authorities and immigration is usually very relaxed about foreigners in everyway. Sometimes too relaxed; i imagine it will actually be difficult finding a hotel that will actually do a proper tm30 report xD Because Rayong city has almost no tourism, or nightlife dedicated to foreigners, most skip Rayong and arrive either in Ban Chang, or Ban Pe (Samet). In the past all hotels i visited; they never bothered doing a tm30, if i came alone they did not even want to see my passport, just wanted 500 baht for the night & laughed and were suprised to see a foreigner. And when i came with my GF they always wanted her national id card.

I imagine having to ask all hotel receptions the day before my extension to ask if they even know about TM30. I might get lucky with a few hotels on Sukhumvit Rd, and near Star market. They must have had foreigners stay before. I definitely want to be on the safe & stressfree side of life :P

It is not nationwide yet. Some offices do not enforce it the same way others do.

Some offices do not enforce it for extensions of a tourist visa entry.

Yes it just that now that im starting to freaking out a bit since i planned a 6 months trip.

And i really want to be sure to get my first extension, my biggest question is about the whole hotel thing.

If it requires me to stay in a hotel for one night then that would not be a problem. But if its reported by the days your staying in a hotel, i dont wanna bother staying in a hotel for 60 days.

A guide on what exact days to do a hotel stay to avoid all of this authoritarian BS would be great. I dont wanna get suprised doing my extension. Im also thinking of going pretty early to immigration, if they come up with a problem then i would still have time to find any solution before getting a overstay.

  4. Yet another TM30 topic, in which im very confused.

In my situation i will arrive on a SETV (60days) and will not stay in any hotel, or place that will report me to immigration (TM30).

Does one random night at a hotel in the province i will be applying for a 30 day extension solve this issue? So i can do a 30 day extension.

As in my case staying with my GF in a floor of a 3-floor-townhouse, a friend of my GF let her stay there for free, the owner of that townhouse shop doesnt even know who exactly is staying there (he only cares about the ground floor shop itself, he has multiple branches across the country, and he isnt even in the province, probly in BKK, some kind of place like Top Charoen with multiple branches) So he lets the staff live there if they want, or whatever else he doesnt really care, and is fine with it. Electricity and water bills are paid by the company too. So no way anybody is going to report an TM30 on me.

How do i get a positive outcome when i will go apply for a 30 day extension? A random night stay during my 60 days at a hotel? Do they also report when u check out? Do i need sleep in a hotel the day before and during the extension application? So much confusion here. I will apply at Rayong immigration. In the past i never even had been bothered by any authorities in this city. They just dont seem to care about foreigerners. Did not had an issue earlyer this year in May at Rayong. But reading so much about the law being strictly enforced now nationwide? Im eager to hear about other people on a SETV.

  5. Do hotels also fill in their computer/app when you are checking out? Does one random night in a hotel during your 60 day on SETV will be OK for an extension.

I will be staying in my GFs room, who stays on a floor of a townhouseshop that a friend let her use, which works at that shop, whos owner is in BKK and has these shops all over the country. So no way any of them will report me staying there.  Owner doesnt even care about his shop second, and thirth floor, doesnt even know who lives there. Can i just sleep ONE random night in a hotel, so they will fill in an tm30 for me, so i can do extend my visa. ?

In the last 3-4 months many immigration offices "now" enforce TM30. A good chance the Rayong office does enforce TM30s nowadays.

6 months ago many offices didnt require a TM30, now they do.

We could all post about not needing one in the past, the point being the enforcement has changed in many offices.

Hmm good luck finding a hotel in Rayong who reports it.. How to get past this rule? If i stay a random day at a hotel that does report? Then extension will be w/o problems right? Or do hotels also register when u check out? Looks like a law from China or some other scary police state. Always bring up terrorists and safety is a cheap trick to take away privacy and control the sheeple i guess.

edit: I though last time in rayong they werent even sitting behind a computer. didnt saw any computers there.

  7. Since when is this law enforced? I never heard of this BS, my last SETV extension was on 14 May 2019 in Rayong. I was never registered, arrived in BKK Suvarnabhumi was picked up by my GF stayed in her room for 2 months, never used a hotel or anything like that or showed my passport anywhere. My extension was done w/o any problems. I did only use hotels after extensions and they did never ask for anything. In Rayong.. I dont think any hotel even reports it, i saw like 6 foreigners total in 3 months there in the city!

  8. Anyone else had experiences with this? It became a new hobby for me last year when my GFs coworker took me to the rivers in Rayong to catch shrimp.

I was very suprised by all this new stuff. As i come from a country with only salt water sea shrimps (they are tiny as well). We were catching big guys here from 100 to 250grams! Those things were scary at first too; they have claws, like skinny lobsters with long arms! They taste different from salt water shrimp too. But they have less meat and huge heads. The Thai people like to suck out their headmeat(ish) stuff with that liver?fat in it. I think its gross and just took the body meat, pretty nice with some lemon juice and potato chips.

The lure surprised me the most; those creatures eat everything. The Thais like to lure them with smaller shrimps, and as a second choice chickenliver, but they eat anything they even bite on pork!

Met some nice kind people at the rivers too. One guy catches shrimp and eats it every day, thats a big luxery. Had some good times and a good laugh too. But when it came to more technical questions my Thai language started to fail. Like do they bite more often in different seasons, and weather conditions? I was told they prefer to eat in the morning, and later in the day after 5pm. And they did not know if there were other conditions like weather or season.

Never been a fishermen myself, but shrimp was different game. Totally loved it! And the GF is so happy when u take home those sweet river shrimps. They are expensive!

Seems to be popular pasttime activity too for guys in that region of Thailand.

I see not reason for you to have a problem entering the country with your history.

You would need pick a embassy or consulate that does not have rule that has a rule stating that will not if you have stayed 90 days in 6 months they will not issue a visa to get the 2nd SETV. Savannakhet for example is one.

Thanks for your reply. My last exit was 13/JUN/2019.

I am a bit confused about the rule of 90 days in 6 months. If i wish to apply in Vientiane. and if i show up in February, the date of my last previous exit in JUN 2019 has long be past by 6 months. I have no idea of how this is calculated.

If it really has to; i can go to Savannakhet but Vientiane would be much more conventient. As i want to use visa run services from Pattaya (close to Rayong), my experience has be great and hassle free in the past. While doing it alone has always been stressfull

  10. 1. Got a single entry 60 days visa already in my home country + will extend for 30 days.

    2. Trip to Lao get another 60 day single entry + extend for 30 days.

I wanna stay from 15/nov/2019 untill somewhere in May 2020. One problem im worried about is that i already had a 3 month stay early 2019.

But that does not go over the 6 month/yearly limit? (4 and a half month of total stay in 2019).

Extensions will be done at the Rayong (Maabtaput) office if that does even matter.

It has been a while since i stayed for a longer term in Thailand, usually had just 3 months stay in the last couple of years.

But have a history of 2, 3 years stay on ED visa in the past. (new passport since that tho)

Things are changing fast in Thailand, so im curious about recent experiences, and if this is still possible.

  11. Hi i have a cbr150 carb model which jerks very hard when releasing the throttle in 1,2, and 3th gear. I cant just let the bike roll by releasing the throttle (even slowly) its way too uncomfortable. It feels like it falls 2 or 3 cm down in the frontfork which gives an hard shocky feeling. Also when even given the slightest amount off throttle it jerks up.

The only way to drive comfortable now is to immediatly pull the clutch lever before releasing the throttle . And also accelerate while slowly release the clutch. ( just like u do when shifting ).

Is this normal? I think your supposed to release the throttle slowly and accelerate slowly whitout using clutch while driving these first 3 gears. A little bit jerking is ok but this is way too much. Feels like the engine is braking alot when release the throttle.

Anybody know what this could be?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Since most bike shops seem to have a hard time finding out what causes problems ( i have to find out myself and tell them what to repair...) if it gets you from A to B its already good for these guys

  12. For on the cheap it will be a rattle can job that you can do. The cost for them to take of any plastics wires or anything in the way will cost the same amount in labor.

Question? It is so cheap to have it shot professionally why paint it any way that will leave it rusting out by next year? If any parts are rusting you will need to remove the rust & re-prime the affected areas or the paint wont stick to the metal. One day you can sand & prime the metal even in your apt. area in the street as long as it isn't raining. It only took me a day & a half to do a ton of rust prep on a 600 steed.Like said a scooter shop will be able to get you by but come next year you will be redoing the same job over. You do get what you pay for. Or a new bike 8 years is a lifetime for a scooter. I get bored of scooters after a year or 2 & the newer scooters are tons better now.

DIY in my apartment really is not an option. In front of my street is always full parked with motorbikes. And i cant get it into the elevator and roll it into my balcony haha. All the plastic parts i could do myself though.

What do you think is an reasonable price for stripping, sanding, primer, paint, re-assemble job?

  13. Im looking for a shop in Pattaya that does a simple cheap paintjob on my 8 year old motorbike. It does not need to be a proffesional top quality paintjob. Its an old bike but still runs good. But has some rusty parts which i want to prevent from going any further.

If i had workspace i would strip it down myself and do it. But since i live in an small apartment impossible.

So all i need is a shop that strips it down and repaint it. And reassemble. For a small price off course.
