Tourists ignore Songkran water-fight ban on Bangkok’s Khaosan Road
martand replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
The trouble is that no vaccine protects you 100%. You are still and unfortunately perfectly capable of infecting and being infected, even if the odds are less. And the further out the date of vaccination, the less they protect. -
In Thailand, the war in Ukraine divides the generations
martand replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Nonsense, if ever, is your statement about Putin. From where do you get what Putin was "dreaming" when he was "An office boy in East Berlin"? In East Germany (He was in Dresden and not in East Berlin, but never mind), our office boy was the employee of an elite Public body, the KGB. Sent to the most important country for the then Soviet Union., he was just 33 yrs old. He knew German to a pro level (Interpreter was his official duty). Not looks like having been the last of the good-for-nothing Office boys. Mr. coolfrog, we are exchanging comments on the tragedy of the Ukraine war and the world on the edge of a third World war. Not about beers and the last girl that stepped into the bar. -
In Thailand, the war in Ukraine divides the generations
martand replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Don't know if it's a matter of young and old yet indeed it is a matter of time, that perhaps younger generations take less into account: the blame for the war, which began in 2014 and not this year, is crystal clear: since February 24 it has been Putin's, while until that day it was shared equally by Russia, NATO (especially the U.S.), and the Ukrainian government. -
Will tourism in Thailand bounce back from Covid differently?
martand replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
In my understanding, the lack of respect is taken as one of the main reason to choose another country for holidays or long term stay. Besides, in general terms: The point is, we have privileges, and on top of that we keep on complaining and getting offended. Yes, I cannot question the experience of others, but as for my four years' experience in Thailand, either they lacked respect because I made a fool of myself or because, I guess, of a general contempt towards Western people and their behavior in Thailand. Fine, can live with that. Do we also ask to be loved and respected, in our condition of clear and unjustified privilege? Hatred (Contempt is a declination of hate) may have no acceptable reasons, but it may have justifications. Not accepting this assumption means not understanding the human nature. -
Will tourism in Thailand bounce back from Covid differently?

They do not respect us in Thailand? Maybe, but I always think of the way Thai people or others coming from not-EU countries are treated in my country. Obtaining a visa, first of all. And they do not come to our western countries to lay on a beach, doing nothing helped by cheap prices (due to low salaries of the labor force), hunting for women, enjoying food and panoramas, etc. etc. Do we really understand how lucky (without reason) we were being born in Western countries? -
Russian Tourists Struggle to Leave Thailand Amid Russia-Ukraine Crisis
martand replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Zelensky thinks about his interests and those of his people, which yes, makes him a good leader, leaving aside how he has governed his country before the war. He has also managed to convince, or trap, many Western leaders. But his insistent appeals to a Western intervention or to the no-fly zone, that is to the mathematical certainty of the third world war, puts him at the limit of irresponsibility. -
Russian Tourists Struggle to Leave Thailand Amid Russia-Ukraine Crisis
martand replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
On the other side, the European Union is directed by ridiculous and laughable leaders (have you seen photos and videos of their meeting in Versailles? But what do they have to laugh about?) flattened like soles on Uncle Sam, providing sanctions to Russia that affect the lives of not American but European citizens (not the personal lives of their leaders, who have stellar salaries and come from rich families. They could not care less about electricity bills, gasoline or the price of the bread). And this is the state of the world in 2022.- 219 replies

This explains part of Putin's accusations against the Ukrainian government, that of being a gang of neo-Nazis and drug addicts. Very peculiar accusations, especially since the Ukrainian president, Mr. Zelenski, is Jewish. But from this article, it seems that neo-Nazis are just about everywhere in the political apparatus and in the Ukrainian army and law enforcement.

All experts and newspapers know very well that the correct parameter to measure the incidence of covid is the rate of positivity compared to the number of tests performed (In some countries more tests are done, in others less). Using absolute figures, 10000 infected today, 15000 yesterday or tomorrow, means little. And the number of deaths are the consequence of infections.

How do Thai women compare with Western women as a wife?
martand replied to webfact's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Maybe because women have a completely different way of seeing things, which is very annoying and very interesting at the same time, yet somehow makes a man go ahead on some changes (either positive or negative of course). -

I would not be so pessimistic about Japanese women, but then again is a matter of personal experience...and luck. -
How do Thai women compare with Western women as a wife?

Let's put it bluntly? There are only two kinds of women, and better remember that what you see is not always what you get (from both kinds) -
How to spot the difference between a woman or a ladyboy

Look at the hands, their shape and width, the prominence of veins on the back. It's a snap and avoids embarrassing situations later. -

No mention of the 10th of January deadline... Are they perhaps debating this? Still hope for those with TP, flight and hotel paid that arrive just after the 10th? -
