Thais simply love to rip off foreigners, it's a fact.
When shopping with my gal, or doing anything similar, I stay back 10 feet as if I don't know her.
Moment I stand beside her, price goes up 10 percent.

Luang probang buffet restaurants have now started charging chinese tourists for wasting food at buffets.
its about timebfor this, as there is no excuse for the amount they waste.

Yes I agree, u r in a different situation being close to the border.

It just seems easier to me to get the visa rather than taking the bus to the border etc.
I know the visa runs in pattaya are ( were) 2000 baht and all day on the bus.
I see guys doing this (were) and it is nothing but a hassle.
Cambodian entry is $30 Laos entry is $42 plus the bus tickets???????
Again, why?????
-
Why bother with this?? Why not just get a proper visa????

Woman's hair color products are far superior than the just for men shoe polish.

Because at 52 I can't even look at a 23 year old without fear of being called a perv. In LOS I can live with one.

you must be fat bald and old, I have never seen nor heard of such prices in Asia in 5 years.Girls that speak English will try to get 3000baht as most of them have returned from Thailand and are used to getting this amount.
As for white skinned girls, You need to go about 5km from the center of town on T4 road to find these, and you'll pay less than 1000baht. Just ask a tuk tuk to take you to T4.
It is a polite way of saying they don't want to go with you.
The Lao people are so much friendlier than Thais.
I have never seen scams or been offered drugs.
I love the country

It's just not good value for the money as it once was. Cambodia was slammed this year. Poor attitudes, military rule, beatings killings, bombings, why wouldn't people come to Thailand? HeheheI just spent 2 days in Bangkok. From lower Suk to Thong Lor. Dead, dead, dead. One of our favorite wine bars in Thong Lor had only 3 people at 1 table. We normally see that place packed, especially in the early evening. The brew pub nearby was also almost empty.
Went for live music and normally it's tough finding a table. Got there at 8pm and the place was empty. Filled up a bit by midnight, but definitely not like before.
Walked around lower Suk and was amazed at how many bars had NO customers. Popped into one for a nam soda and the waitress said it was very slow.
Reasons? Poor global economy, less Russians, military rule, poor value for the money now...?????
They need a wake up call.
Good for them? They have had it too good for too long.
Bring it on!!!!
My hometown in the west is now cheaper than bangkok, as far as drinking and dining on western food goes.
Why would I spend time there?
It looks like others feel the Same way!

It seems to be the perfect storm at the moment, low currency's, martial law, high prices. It's not the bargain it once was. There simply aren't enough tourists to support the businesses. How many bars and restaurants Gogos etc can withstand this downturn??? I do my rounds of the Gogos and with the few customers frequenting these establishments, many are wondering how many are legitimate?( money laundering)???? And p4 p prices are now cheaper in Europe and elsewhere. But people continue to say that a gal is justified in asking a weeks wages for an hours work??(gogo) and the weekly beatings, mugging s, killings, etc dont do tourism any favour s.
No easy fixes here, but another low season will. Spell disaster for many many businesses.

Some people are just slobs. Pretty disgusting when people lack personal hygiene .

Yes, I am sure any Russian would be happy to give it away. Either that or check the t- paper roll in your local pub.
That's about what it is worth nowadays.

I just returned from 3 months. I have a girlfriend , so I don't take p4 p ladies.
I have a trip log this trip , so I can tell you exactly how much I have spent.
First of all, I am a fair drinker, and not a cheap Charlie, my gal hardly drinks. These prices are based on 2 people for around half of my holiday.
AFTER accomadation, and motorbike rental, electricity water. I averaged 1,700 baht per day.
And lived VERY comfortably on this.

I agree with the above poster, why would anyone want to live here????
This is my first trip here, I love the place, but I most certainly will not be returning at this time of year.
And all the talk about wearing masks. Are you people for real??????
What a joy to have to wear a mask to go outside!!!! Hahahahahahahah
Glad I live in Canada.
I was out on a bike ride today, my eyes are still burning, what a shithole.

I spend 3 months travelling Asia and all that is needed is a carryon size backpack and my computer bag.
Why would anyone lug around a suitcase unless they were going to a single destination.
15 wick away breathable t- shirts, 7 pairs of shorts, flip flops, tablet( no laptop) toiletries( very little) money and the clothes I wear on the plane.
I don't even wear my jacket on the airplane anymore, it saves lugging it around for 3 months.
This is all that's needed!

i went in this place for a look. OMG! I wouldn't bring a 500 baht beach road hooker for a short time there!I noticed that the luridly-coloured hotel on the corner of Soi Honey and Soi Buakow is advertising monthly rooms for 12,000B including water and electricity. Dont know what the rooms are like though.
If that's Sawasdee Siam, and I believe it is, I would give it a very wide berth. Admittedly, I only stayed there once - 2010 - but I doubt they've renovated the place since, esp at that price. Complete dump from the hallways to the rooms, and one of the only places I've ever stayed in where a sex worker has bitched about the room. The apartment block I live in - admittedly about 200m back from Siam - has rooms from 9k+elec to 25k all up : 12k a month for such a central location tells me they're feeling the pinch of this hideous 'high' season. Ironic that the reason I stayed there was that everything else under 1500 baht in that area was booked out and I got sick of wandering up and down sois in the heat - I expect that any new arrival to Pattaya could take their pick right now.

The blue purple football shaped pills are called zoplicone. These were prescribes to me from my doctor for my long haul Canadian asian flight. I have also bought Xanax in cambodia.
The zoplicone works great, and I wake up refreshed and not groggy at all.
I took one zoplicone and half a Xanax last trip . Left Tokyo and they woke me up for breakfast 2 hours out of Chicago.

A very high percentage of workers in the service industry are foreigners. It has always been this way.
I would think the Thais are too lazy, or just refuse to work for the wage offered at these establishments.
