I would guess that the Thai bikers are very, very soft men, who just love the uniform, and perhaps their chapter is not even supported by the HA clubs worldwide. Perhaps the Aussies were sent in to mess with the Thais, and show them who is boss, and who are the punks. In many countries these are some really bad hombres. Really nasty guys that are into all kinds of nasty stuff like dealing heroin, killings, and general mayhem. I am sure there are a few members that are upstanding citizens. But, despite their valiant efforts at charity, and other activities meant to shed a more positive light, in general they are not upstanding members of society.

    • In May 2008, Hells Angel Christopher Wayne Hudson pleaded guilty to shooting a man to death after bystanders tried to help Hudson's girlfriend while the couple fought in the streets of Melbourne.
    • The Hells Angels Web site itself devotes a page to members serving prison time - although it's never made clear on the site if they were sentenced for activities conducted in their roles as members.
    • Ralph "Sonny" Barger, the media-affable co-founder of the Oakland, Calif., Hells Angels, spent four years in federal prison after being found guilty of conspiring to blow up a rival group's clubhouse.

In their book "Angels of Death: Inside the Bikers Empire of Crime," authors William Marsden and Julius Sher portray a Hells Angels in which members murder fellow motorcyclists, police officers and people minding their own business: "Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of lives ruined, brains fried, bodies withered by the methamphetamines, cocaine and other drugs pushed by the bikers. And yet while the body count kept mounting, Sonny Barger, the Californian patriarch and international leader of the Hells Angels, was being feted by the international media as he promoted his latest bestselling book".

For instance, the Quebec Biker War in Canada waged between the Hells Angels and a rival group called the Rock Machine, spanned eight years and killed more than 150 people -- including innocent bystanders. In Europe at least, conflicts between Hells Angels and rival biker gangs have in the past escalated to the use of machine guns, grenades, rocket launchers and car bombs.

In Australia , the Hells Angels apart from the odd incident , surprisingly keep a pretty low profile , almost undercover mafia like ,

Despite that ,  it is still well known they are into organised crime, and are guys not to be messed with

  2. I remember once years ago walking through the back streets of Patong and saw from a distance down the road a group of thais kicking a young what looked like an Aussie tourist guy on the ground, somehow the young kids mates must have been alerted and they came running to help , now that we have   even numbers , the thais ran away , I couldnt believe how cowardly that looked ,

it is an interesting one to see the shoe on the other foot , not that I condone it , it is still wrong

  3. Just going to say this once, and let it stand for any post I ever make on this forum, and you guys can upvote or downvote this.

There are a lot of people on this thread who CHOSE to be willfully ignorant and just say whatever they want: There is no necessary tie between wanting a cute masseuse and only wanting sex from it, as you seem OBSESSED with trying to force such a conceptual relationship -- perhaps YOU just can't see it any other way. If I wanted something else, I would search for something else (and probably it'd be easier to find). Period.

There's nothing wrong with wanting the feeling of being pampered whilst getting a serviceable massage from an attractive masseuse. Such an attitude doesn't imply you're after extras. Actually what you're asking for is available all over the place - in any cluster of massage shops in any part of town you'll see one or two appealing girls out front. And as a general rule if the place looks clean and spa like, the girl should be pretty professional.

The biggest risk which I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet, is the old bait and switch routine, where the girl who lures you in is suddenly replaced by her brother or her auntie. And this can easily be warded off if you speak a bit of Thai...

Yes ive had that happen to me , you are lying on your back enjoying the massage , thinking its the young hottie ,

Then she says roll over , and its granny smith

  4. My experience with Thai massage, without trying to be controversial ,

The young attractive girls tend to be there to attract the men who are after extras,

For traditional massage without hanky panky,

the older women , quite often the bigger ones with strong hands are the best at it

  5. Without trying to hijack the thread , im going to be in the area , prob soi 8 or 11 , its been a few years

When im in thailand I want to eat thai food ,

I know its a touristy area , so its not the best for thai food ,

But if anyone can give me some tips for good cheap thai eats , including street food spots , that would be appreciated ,

    Cheers

  6. Hi , its been a while since ive stayed in bangkok ,

Looking at spending a week there soon , I like to be in area that has plenty going on at night , usually stayed in nana in the past , sois 8 and 11 have appealed to me in the past as places to stay , nice sois plus plenty going on around them

Thinking of staying a bit further up around Asoke , how does it compare to NANA area ? or maybe I should stick to Nana

Is it safe to walk between the two areas late late at night and how long does it take ? is there a time at night when you would say for safety I would get a cab now ?

    Cheers

  7. Ill be watching this with interest ,

Im a frequent visitor ( once a year holidayer )

That is eyeing off an early retirement there perhaps one day , mainly because ill have to work untill im 70 here in Aus ,

If they are clamping down on the visa runners now , who knows how much more clamping down will be done in other areas like retirement visas in the near future .

  8. Cool , I work in the building trade , paving, concreting and landscaping , been doing it for 30 years ,its a hard slog, its a young mans game,

and basically I dont fancy doing it in my 60s and will be in no position financially to retire here before 60 due to the cost of living , but perhaps over there I can , that is my plan , just hope it comes off .

  9. Hi first time poster ,

Wife and I have been travelling to thailand for holidays for years , and thought we might give thailand a try for an early retirement in about 5 - 7 years , we are both 51 , and were also looking at Krabi , inland from the beach by 5 or 10 mins by vehicle ,

We have little super , less than $100,000 . but have two houses worth approx $700,000 combined and a $200,000 mortgage on those ,

We should be able to reduce some of that debt in 5 years , and hopefully the houses will go up some ,

Would you think we may be in a suitable position to live comfortably , with perhaps one house rented and money invested ,

in the area of $2000 or 60,000 baht per month if it was now ?

    Cheers
