  1. Hi I want to change my annual extension of stay from a retirement one based on an OA visa to one by marriage it's due in early April , I have the 400k already in the bank , I have a few things I'm not sure about , what do I put on the TM7 where it says visa type ? can I change it to O as the extension will be based on marriage or will I have to still put OA ? and will this mean I'll have to still have the health insurance and the 800k in the bank  ?

Has anybody done this recently ? some first hand experience would be welcomed .

    Thanks

  2. Hello Everyone

We've nearly got all our drawings together now so went to the tessaban yesterday and they queried some missing drawings and have now rung us with a price for approving them of 14000 Baht does this seem right ? the house is aprox 255M square so I assume they are charging by the square meter.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

    Cheers Bill

  3. Been to the bar and bistro by Neng this evening , thought it as very good at a reasonable price , hand made pasta , pizza, steak , she also said she's doing a Christmas menu so I think we'll be trying that ! Also been to Tulip fitness nearby and had a great meal there so that's two good places in Ban Thum .

  4. Hi thanks for the information everyone , we've been to the Tessaban and are getting the drawings done by them at a cost of 5,000 Bt so we'll see what they produce, also been to see a local builder on a job he was doing so once we've got the plans and permits we'll go back to him for a price and take it from there , once I've got the finances in place as well !

  5. Hi Everybody

I'm thinking of biting the bullet and building a house near KK, does anybody know of a good architect in the area who could do me a set of drawings , bill of quantities and get the building permit ? I've tried a few already but they don't really listen to what I want , and want to push their own ideas and plans onto me , plus want to control the whole building process with their associated costs , think I'm getting the Ooh it's a Farang lets stick in a high price attitude.

Sorry if this has been covered before but I haven't had time to look through all the old posts ( small child gobbles up most of our time these days!!)

    Cheers

  6. I went with the family to the Kosa hotel last year at the outside steak bar restaurant , very disappointing thought it was expensive for what I got ( supposed to be turkey dinner) and no atmosphere too so can't recommend that , thinking of getting a large chicken or turkey and doing a BBQ anybody fancy doing a joint effort ? I'm about 15 Km west of KK in Ban Wa district although would consider travelling but not too far as have a small child ?

  7. Hi apologies if this has been covered before, We have a hair beauty salon and are being charged 7bt a unit for our electric at the moment the local rate is 3.5 Bt a unit so 100% mark up for guy we pay every month is this still legal? Since the change in the law about overcharging for electricity, we don’t get to see the meters or bills for water and electric each month as landlord has them elsewhere in the building and we have to go on his figures each month , the building also has flats / condo above our salon that he manages we have asked him to drop the price we are being charged for the electricity but he just says “ not possible “ not surprisingly .

Many thanks if anyone can advise on this topic.

  8. Hi

Apologies if this has been covered before but i couldn't find anything relevant in a trawl through past posts in the re-entry subject.

I recently returned from a trip to the UK , I originally had an O-A visa that has now expired and i got an extension of stay which will run out on 23rd Sept 2017, I obtained a single entry re-entry permit before I left for my trip to the UK and this was stamped Length of Stay until 23/09/2017 also, on arriving back at Swampy the immigration officer stamped my passport and wrote in admitted until what looks like 23/9/2018 is this correct ? or has he made a mistake and will I have to do another extension of stay before 23/9/17 or am i ok until 23/9/18 if I don't go out of the country until then ? I'll attach a picture of the stamps for clarification.

  9. Hi everyone

I was in Bangkok yesterday going into a MRT station when I was approached by a smartly dressed European looking lady about 25-30 who showed me a message on her phone that said could she connect to Wi Fi on my phone to send an urgent message, when I asked her why she pointed to her ear to suggest she was deaf,at first i showed her my phone an i Phone and she lost no time in going to the settings and turning on WiFi hotspot and blue tooth at this point alarm bells started ringing to me and i said I wasn't happy with that turned them off again before she could do any more and suggested she could send a message from my phone SMS Tango or Line , but she immediatly lost interest and walked away, so my question is was it a scam? could she have planted a virus on or sent details about my phone to a 3rd party ? or am i just being too cyinical? and she was genuine and in need of help? Cheers for any advise. Billy

  10. Hi

Thanks for the information , I've got all my documents together now as well and was going to go for the visa next week , what did you have with the notarisation ? I've just got a stamp and seal on each document but the notary talked about getting a legalisation letter as well?

I'm also thinking about going to BKK to get the visa instead of a 400 mile two day trip to London for it but I'm going to call the embassy on Monday about that

Many thanks , have a happy retirement
