We know this saying of some politicians: Covid is just like a flu. And after following covid developments for months, I'm convinced they're right - provided those affected do not suffer from excessive body fat - or possibly even lifestyle diseases due to it, like diabetes or high blood pressure.

I've read that bodyfat excess prevents the immune system from working properly, in a sense that its agents are being 'prevented to really get there fast to join the action' (or something in that sense). Another aspect was that while eating 'traditionally', we inflict more constant damage on the body's cells than most of us are aware of - and thereby, we keep the immune system busy trying to repair the cells affected, while its full capacity would be needed to fight off an aggression like covid (or flu, for that matter).

How do we avoid excessive body fat - in the first place, or reduce it to a healthy level once it's there? Simple: Eat the right diet, and do sufficient sport. The internet told me that a low-carb diet will probably be effective, and my personal experience shows that this is true. That we should do sports five times a week, half an hour each, is probably known - swimming is useful, if you swim with an effort (thus have a raised heartbeat, pulse and breath frequency).

If you now ask yourself if all these important covid-related measures that leaders are taking, and on a global basis, are headed in the wrong direction (because they fail to address the true cause), not to mention the untold damage they keep on inflicting on the economy, then there is some evidence that you are right. But due to the classic ignorance of those in power, plus herd effects (and it's not 'herd immunity'), and undue economic considerations (like protecting McDo & co), it is hard to imagine that we will begin to see the light anytime soon. Stock up on masks, and keep your TV in good working order (or what else you spend your homeoffice time with).

PS: Ironically, some of the 'flu' political protagonistas (Trump or Bolsonaro come to mind) are not exactly delgado themselves...

    Spot on. Well put.

that makes zero sense whatsoever. The big brewers will lose business if there are fewer sales venues for their products.

I think these big brewers must be the worst lobbyists in the country, because every time there is a religious holiday, the sale of their products are banned. And now you have this.

I think enforced abnormal would be more suitable.

Yes, it would seem that the lunatics are running the asylum at the UN now. Have you read UN Agenda 2030? 1984 ain't got anything on this. Then there is Agenda 21 another "delightful" read.

No! Just no. Im not accepting their version of reality. They have proven again and again not to be trustworthy. Latest research determines you are 19 times less likely to get infected outdoors than indoors.

Agreed ! The Compulsory Abnormal would be a more appropriate term. Together with Enforced Distancing.

As for vaccines. Well, No way José.

  5. Whilst at the IB at Jomtiem/Pattaya last Friday to obtain a Residence Certificate. At the Residence Issuance counter, I was told I first had to register my address. Having quickly filled out the form, I took my place in the queue for the counter. Eventually, my number was called. The officer went through my paper and then clipped a small piece of paper in my passport (another one) She told me I have to renew it if I go out of the country. I asked her to repeat what she had just told me. She confirmed what she had just said. So, I asked the question; "What if I go to another province for a couple of days". She told me, only if you go outside the country.

  6. The decision to stop issuing the letter by the BE must surely have been forced upon them. Considering the profit they must have been making with the +/- THB 2000 fee.

I read somewhere that bank statements (bank books) showing the regular monthly income will in future suffice. Can anyone corroborate this ? If so, then it will be a money saver for us pensioners.

  7. Well, after much procrastination, I finally attempted an online 90 day reporting. The result? total failure!

I followed the instructions to the letter, even going to the length of using Internet Explorer instead of the more recent MS Edge.

All went well in filling out the form including filling in the KAPCHA code. After which a click on submit and nothing happened. Just a pop-up message saying to contact the Immigration Bureau. No confirmation/reference number. Nothing.

The online 90 day reporting has been online now for more than a year, yet it is still totally unreliable.

A trip to my local post office is now on the agenda.

  8. Thanks for the posts.

Browser issues aside (I have IE-11) the consensus would appear to be negative. Until I see a few posts saying that the experience of using their web based reporting was a great success, I shall refrain from using it.

Registered post has worked fine in the past so, I reckon I''ll stick with that for the time being. Although, it would have been nice to use modern technology.

  9. I have been looking at the various posts regarding the 90 day reporting online. There does not appear to be any up to date comments on this.

Does anyone have any recent feedback on the use of this site? (other than the limitation of needing to use IE.)

I want to use it for the first time but if the majority of the feedback is negative, I shall revert to registered post.

  10. I have been using the extension of stay based on retirement for the past 3 years without a problem.

I had thb 800k in the bank throughout that period, untouched. Earlier this year I needed to dip into the 800k to the sum of 100k leaving 700k in the bank account. In August this year (28th) I topped the account back up to 800k. This on the assumption that total of 800k had to be in the account 2 months prior to applying for the extension. Unfortunately, I was wrong! (I obviously did not read all the posts on Thaivisa)

Yesterday, at the immigration, I was denied an extension due to the funds (the total of 800k) not having been in the bank for the required 3 months, but only 2 months. This means that as from tomorrow I shall be in an overstay situation.

As I see it there are a number of options open to me.

    1) obtain a proof of income letter from the British Embassy and re-apply using bank funds together with income.

    2) Change the application to extension of stay based on marriage. (with all the complexity that goes with this)

My questions are regarding 2. As I understand it, there is a waiting period of 30 days from date of application. How would that effect my overstay situation? i.e. would I be in overstay for 30 days or would the date of application stop the overstay status.

Does immigration keep the passport for the 30 days under consideration period?

    All help much appreciated.

  11. For the past two years I have had my extension of stay based on retirement issued at Bangkok immigration. I have always made the 90 day reporting by post. It has always worked fine without the hassle of going back to immigration every 90 days

I recently moved to the Chonburi area, where I have just obtained a further 12 months extension of stay. Does anyone know if the Chonburi/Jomtiem immigration office accepts 90 day reporting by post? I asked at the imm. office when I collected my passport but nobody seemed to know.

    Thanks.

  12. Dear sir or madam,

I have a retirement visa which expires in November this year. The visa was issued in Bangkok and I have been making the 90 day reporting to that office.

I am currently resident in Bangkok, but I will be moving to the Pattaya area just before or maybe a little after the renewal date of my visa.

My question is: If I move house before the renewal date I can presumably go to the Jomtiem immigration office for renewal and subsequently report there for the 90 day reporting. But if I move house after the renewal date I Will I have to go back to the Bangkok immigration office for renewal? If so, what about the 90 day reporting If I then have a visa issued at Bangkok. Can I then report to Jomtiem immigration office for the 90 day reporting?

    Regards,
