  1. Most EU Countries do allow Thais to enter without quarantine in recognition to the handling of the government to contain the spread of the virus in Thailand.

Regardless of all criticism this is a job well done.

The Thai government has not yet offered the same to EU residents, even with self quarantine, government quarantine, test reports or whatever.

Airports in Frankfurt and Vienna do offer now quick tests for Covid 19 with results known within 4 hours. The tests cost Euro 59 (abt Bht 2000)

They might wait until Thai Airways is up and flying again to take their fair share of the cake.

People cannot enter Thailand even if a Covid free test issued before flight is presented. Hopefully the powers in charge come to a more workable conclusion. I know stranded Thais in Germany, who are not willing to come back if they are incarcerated in a room for 14 days 5* or not.

  2. Thailand has to be commended for having the covid situation more or less under control. Of course nobody knows the underlying infection rates, but not only in Thailand.

Any virologist, any epidemiologist will confirm that social distancing is the most important. It appears also a proven fact that the virus is less likely to survive in open spaces and direct UV light.  This said, I would love to receive an intelligent explanation for the reason behind closing the beaches, Instead people will walk 10 meters behind on the concrete walkways. This decision seems to me counter productive. Already now hardly any gatherings on the beach itself can be seen. People should rather take the advice of keeping social distance, regardless were they are.

  3. Fully agree that the underlying problem is much bigger than the actual figures show. On the positive side there is a strong acceptance to wear masks. Masks do not offer 100 pct protection, but some form of protection. Unfortunately there are not enough masks available. This will not change if the government confiscates anything above 180 pieces imported, unless you have a license.

My suggestion to the Thai government is, let those regulations go, bring in through the private sector as many as you can get. China got it under control with their masks, so will we.

The US has accepted now Chinese approved masks, Trump and his cohorts buy what they can get. America First! It is time to think about Thailand first.

  4. Well, he has to live now as fugitive, even with all the money and power it is a nightmare for this kid. Think where he comes from.

He may be better off surrendering and getting his life back on track. This guy inherits one day on of the greatest

fortunes in Thailand. Does he want to be tarnished for the rest of his life? .....Justice must be served.

It may seem unfair, but a fair trial and a sentence which will be lesson for him, yet not destroy his whole life.

  5. public transport in Pattaya is a shame. If a 80 year old women has no chance but to pay 400 bht for a two kilometer ride I consider it a criminal rip off.

Authorities however give a hoot as Mr Trink would say. Bht 2000 for every Taxi driver refusing to use his meter would be fine. Nobody needs Uber, even if the Taxi

Mafia would organize themselves  Grab Taxi or others.

Pattaya needs a reliable, fair and transparent public transport system. That's all.

  6. Needless to say, the price goes up for beer and wine under the pretext of protecting the hard drinking Thai people. Nobody ever talks about the real dangerous stuff, the Lao Khao is as cheap as ever and the most dangerous for the part of the population that need the protection. Wine drinkers are seldom alcoholics.

The price of wine is  high, but affordable, if it goes up, the market will shrink.

  7. Well,

looking at the demographics in Japan their decision is stupid. Either the Japanes change their laws about immigration, their racist thinking and behaviour

or the Japanese people will be a dying breed. In 2015 Japan had almost 130 Million people. Japan's population will keep declining by about one million people every year in the coming decades, which will leave Japan with a population of 42 million in 2110 . The problem of overaging will be dramatic. Average life expectancy is already now over 80 years.

On the other hand I believe Thailand should be glad to welcome back a - I believe- a well educated member in the Thai Society.

Bad for Japan - Good for Thailand.

39 minutes ago, fish monger said:

Excuse me, but the pool was constructed 21 years ago...! The guy was popped because he was renting rooms by the day instead of the month as the permit states. Try doing some research folks...You can start with BP...Half the story is missing here....!

thank you fish monger! The whole article is a load of rubbish. This part of the seaside is completely inaccessible.. Try to prosecute the guys who approved it or turned a blind eye some 20 years ago. I want to see the fisherman who made this rediculous statement.

Sure it is not really legal, but then legalize it and let the people live.  A huge fat fine would be in order for the illegal use. However those guys in power at the time should also pay back. CRIME SHOULD NOT PAY!

  9. Khun Han, as I said, history will tell. And as a matter of fact the UK has participated actively in the transformation of the EU.

At this moment I see the UK pound dropping faster in value than I could drop my pants. I see Tesco taking out a wide range of products because they refuse to accept the hard facts of life, prices for imported products become more expensive. On the lighter side, my UK made MINI should become significantly cheaper..........

  10. The UK is a parliamentary democracy. It is highly questionable, if the Brexit vote did truly represent the will of the sovereign. Secondly it is more than  questionable if the British parliament would vote for the Brexit. Members of Parliament are not bound by the populist vote, which in my opinion has never been integral part of the British democratic system. The British courts must decide, if the road taken by the government is a legal raod or if parliament must be consulted on such important decision. The parliament is representing the sovereign British people.

The vote was highly influenced by populists and initiated by Mr Cameron, who - I am sure - never expected this desaster. The price of the Brexit is paid by the British people. I bet with anyone that no increase in social spending as a result of the Brexit will happen, this mostly for those imbeciles who thought the money saved in the EU will be spent on the poor.

Why did the UK join in the first place? The EU is the best thing that has happened in the long long history of Europe. There has never been a time with more wealth, more freedom and peace. This counts for the last 2000 years.

Some people know better. History will tell.

  11. Same happened in Hamburg, Germany last summer. The lady was not arrested, but interviewed. Nothing in the law to forbid her doing that.

Obscenity comes into the game if she starts acting in a sexual provokative way, which she did not.

Different cultures, different views and laws on the subject of obscenity. I hope they let her go with a stern warning or get her some help if she

is mentally unfit to understand her actions.coffee1.gif

  12. Talking to a Japanese Sushi Chef the other day, I asked him about the dangers of eating raw fish. The reply was not to ever eat raw fresh water fish, because of the parasites.

Parasites of salt water fish in general cannot survive in our bodies. The explanation makes sense as I have not heard about high liver cancer risk factors in Japan.

Wether the red ants are to blame is another question, I hope not. They become a pest in certain areas and should be eaten, if possible...wai2.gif

Save the fish, eat more beef!
