Do they actually believe that Tourists are waiting in airport lounges around the world to go on holidays to Thailand! The arrogance is unreal! Nobody in the right mind would be travelling across the world right now...for a holiday. Or would they????

Yes they do and here lies the problem they actually belive people still want to come to thailand

This represents a drop of 9 per cent from the previous worst-case scenario forecast for this year of Bt742.5 billion, a sharp decline of 75 per cent from around Bt3 trillion last year.

So this is a worst case worst case scenario! What about the worst case worst case worst case number?

Good to see the TAT back in business throwing random numbers around.

they WILL fine you 500 bath. I experienced it last year in Phuket.

You should leave the country at least on the day of the stamp in your passport.

I miscalculated that and was fined 500 bath at airport, the day after stamp was valed.

No they wont the first day is free, I overstayed one day last year but dont tell bkk6060 he will get all triggered ????????

I hope this does not reflect your personality.  It is something when one overstay even by a day.  You are just encouraging others to abuse the generosity of the Thai Immigration law.

ohh the SJW are out today, What generosity he overstayed by a mere 14 days and you feel the need to come on here and pronounce you moral superiority to everyone

I am not permitted to assist Wifey around the house or garden unless she asks. Usually the "fetch xyz from the high shelf" type thing (cleaning is waay out of bounds), of course she always asks when I'm halfway through doing something vital, like posting on TV.

She also thinks I'm completely barmy to do anything DIY, "we can pay Mr Pqr to do that". Fact is I enjoy a bit of DIY and, truth be known, she gets a kick out of responding to "where did you buy that picnic table [or whatever]" with "hubby made it", which is often closely followed by "ooh, can he make me one?".

That is the same as my wife she often wonders why I do DIY round the house when we can pay someone but takes great pleasure in telling everyone that he husband can do it. She also ban me from doing any house work like cleaning and the garden is her domain she loves it, she said it would be disrespectful if her friends seen me doing housework as it would mean she is unable to look after her husband. farang who come out with statements about ohh he is just lazy or want a slave just fail to understand Thai mentality

  6. It has little to do with body image.

It's similar to their obsession with brand names, the selfi is all about showing off where they are and what they are doing.

Putting themselves in the pic to say hey look what I'm doing, like taking pics of everything they eat.

    Interesting but not annoying.

oh its annoying trust me I hid a friend because I was fed up of her posting 3 or 4 selfies on he Facebook a day

  7. How terribly upsetting.

    Are you ok ?

You are right mate... It's ok to treat visitors like total shit
Correct if you've been here as long as you say you must have realised this already, you'll get over it.

One weekend back in May of 2014 I had a similar thing happen in Tesco Lotus Phetchabun, the check out assistant had the cheek to give my change to my girlfriend, astonishing behaviour,it was as if I wasn't even there even though I paid the bill, talk about discrimination.

That's quite normal it happens to me all the time if its small change I let her keep it as for some reason she likes have loads of coins, not sure if that's just her or that's normal for Thai females

  8. Sure Mate.Well i drove my bike at night it was away from the normal spots there was a police check point down a dark road.I was stopped i looked to nervous and was asked fot my passport i gave it to them they noticed the overstay i was put in jail brought to court a few days later paid fine.A immigration officer brought me straight to airport i didnt spend anytime at idc.I do not know what the standard protocol is but i paid a fee to have process quickened up. Yeah they probaly rode me on that but hey.No red stamps no blacklist threaths got the naughty overstay stamp and in handwritting they wrote the fine i paid and also wrote that this case is already finished.Immigration were fairly decent to me i was apologetic and well behaved. Not as bad as a experience as i thought it would be but definetly not something i would want to go through again and i will never overstay again for sure.Basically my nerves gave the game away which made them ask for my passport.Cheers

Had the same experience but on a 9 month over stay but was a bit lucky the police took me back to my house and I handed over 10k and they left I decided to move house and get the overstay sorted just as well because I was informed that they returned to the house prob for some more money. Yes it was a silly thing to do but I had fun

  9. You can get a 30 day extension of a 30 day visa exempt entry at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

The only only problem you might have is boarding your flight to here without a ticket out of the country within 30 days.

Several times, in fact most of my trips to Thailand I never know exactly when I am going to go back to the states, so my EVA ticket is always round trip and several times I make it open ended with no specific return date, and a few times I had a return date of a month or so past the initial 30 days. I knew I was going to stay about two months and was going to make a simple border visa exempt run. I have never been asked about it. never had an issue. I have heard of some airlines as Ubonjoe mentions having an issue with things like that.

In anticipation of those who ask why not just get a tourist visa in advance: I didn't get a tourist visa in advance because it is a bit of a pain. I am not near an embassy or consulate that would at the minimum require a drop off and a pick u visit, I don't like mailing my passport around, and I usually travel on short notice, like a few days.

yes that's the problem I have I do not live near an embassy and I do not like posting my passport also its ridicules the way they fill a whole page up with a visa :)
