Interesting, i use a service out of Canada called Visa Direct and the transfer happens immediately. Person on Thai side just needs to have a visa card or a visa debit card with active bank account.
Do you remember which bank was used on the Thai end?
-
Does anyone have any experience of the Visa Direct remittance system, where funds are transferred from card to card more or less instantly?
Know of any Thai banks that participate in the scheme?

The Receipt Number is found on the Electronics Fund & Cash Deposit Instructions Sheet.
It is a 11 digit number also know as the Virtual Account ID.
It comes live at 12:00 noon on the business day after you make the payment at the bank.

Time for the OGUK medical has rolled around again and after 3 certs from Dr Vatana in Bumrungrad I thought I'd give Dr Nawin down in Bangkok Rayong a shot as it's closer to home. It did not happen though, Dr Nawin has moved on to greener pastures apparently and there is no replacement doing the OGUK medicals in his stead.
After searching the OGUK's Doctors List, on which here are now 10 Doc's registered to do the medicals in Thailand, I decided to give the guys at Samitivej Sriracha Hospital a try as again, they are closer to home. That was till they told me their price - 11800 B. ( Their trouble is they do all the tests, they don't realise the OGUK is a very basic medical)
So I ended up back at Bumrungrad, where Dr Vatana charged 3570 B for his trouble. In and out in an hour and 15 minutes. Professional service at a fair price.

Anyone been thru the process of getting a CC from HSBC in HK with a Thai address? Straightforward?
I've had a HSBC Advance account with them for a few years. I had to visit HK to open the account.

Thanks folks for all the recommendations.
The multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage from Savannakhet looks like exactly what I require.
Thanks again.

It's been good while it's lasted.
I've been travelling in and out of Thailand for years on visa exempt stamps, and as a consequence never took much interest in visa minutiae. Seeing that this may no longer be possible in the near future I'd like to get the forums opinion on the best alternatives.
My circumstances.
52 year old holder of 2 British passports. (For work reasons)
Married with a Thai wife and 3 dual nationality, Thai/British, children.
Engaged in freelance work outside Thailand for periods between 1 day and 63 days.
Return to Thailand between work assignments for periods between 1 day and 45 days.
Seasoned money in the bank.
My preference for any alternative would be to be able to do all the paperwork required at my local immigration office, Sri Racha, Chonburi, but if that's not possible it's not a biggie.
In the meantime, while it does last, I will continue to use the visa exempt option, alternating passports as much as I can - and the board may be interested to note that I returned recently, through DM, from a 2 day trip to Singapore and got a 30 day visa exempt stamp, in a passport with dozens of similar stamps, without an issue - but I think it wise to plan alternatives.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Thanks guys. Sent off the paper work for the UK police clearance, waiting for that to come back. 10 to 14 days they reckon.

I'm offshore at the moment. I'll give them a call next week when I'm back on the beach,
I did find this this link though so it looks promising.

I have the opportunity of some offshore work in Brazil in a couple of months.
Does anybody know if it is possible for a British passport holder to get a Brazilian work visa thru the Brazilian Embassy in Bangkok?
Or do I have to go back to the UK to get it done?

Thanks guys, you've answered all my questions.

No technical reason other than the signal loss over a long cable run.
Well I was thinking more along the lines of connecting the 2nd receiver to it own dish if there does not have to be a cable connection between the two receivers. I'd carry out this mod myself after the Tech's have gone.

I currently have the True Vision Gold package and may need to subscribe to the same service at a second location.
With the True Vision Gold package an additional service point (ASP) costs 282.48 Baht/month on top of the 1413 Baht for the 1st service point (according to their site). I guess that gets you an additional receiver for each ASP.
I presume additional service points are intended to be in the same residence but is there any technical reason why the ASP's cannot be in a different location as long as they are hooked up to the correct dish and LNB.

Hey Jimmyd
Picked up a kilo of Zurich Breakfast sausages at SS Sausage yesterday. Plenty in stock. They are a Belucky product.
-
We used to enjoy those Zurich breakfast sausages as well. We have not had them for a while, can't remember why we stopped buying them. Anyway we used to buy them in 1kg bags in Foodland and SS Naklua.
I'm going to SS tomorrow to get some smoked pork loin so will inquire what the story is with the sausages.
Money transfer to Thailand.....quickest yet!
