Hi,
My retirement 1 year extension expired on 17th Oct. Long story as to why I let it expire.
My question is, under the current amnesty law am I still eligible to apply for a 60 day extension? I will be applying at MTT.
I know under normal circumstances it would be out of the question but with amnesty maybe?
Many thanks. -
Hi,
My 1 year retirement visa expired on the 17th October. Why it expired is a long story.Probably a stupid question, but under the amnesty law do I qualify for a 60 day extension? I am married to a Thai national.
Would it be a waste of time trying?
Many thanks. -
Hi,
You are correct I should have mentioned the wife. I am trying hard to play by the rules but am getting extremely frustrated. Never had this problem in 37 years of living here.
I've heard of MTT, could I bother you for the address? Although my visa expired today!
Many thanks.

Hi,
Many thanks, I suspected that was the case. My wife was with me.
I think going back to Chonburi is a waste of time. Using the "section38" app I have found they have my Bangkok address on record, cannot prove address in Chonburi as I am no longer there. If I go back to CW empty handed I'll likely be shown the door.
To compound the problem my visa expires today. Not entirely my fault I had to wait until this morning for Chonburi to return my passport.

Hi,
I've been told by several people that it can be done, including ubonjoe.
The reason for the request is I need time for my money to "season". It was late in coming. (Covid problems)

Hi,
The saga continues.
Went to Chonburi immigration on Thursday submitted my documents to transfer visa to new passport, no problem.
When I attempted to submit my request for a 60 day extension (to my existing retirement extension issued in Chonburi) I was turned down flat. I was told it was "impossible"? He didn't even look at my documents.Today went to Chaeng Wattana to try.
There I was told I have to change my Address back to Bangkok where I reside.I was told to go to Muang Thong Thani to do this.
I have no idea where/what this is or what documents I need!In addition they want me to show 800,000฿ in the bank, for a 60 day extension???
Would greatly appreciate any help/advice with this, I have never heard of this before.

Hi stouricks,
Had delays in getting the 800,000฿ here in time. Hence the need for the 60 day extension.
-
Hi,
Many thanks. You are quite right I just needed clarification.
-
Hi,
Many thanks, appreciated.
-
Hi ubonjoe.
That is good news.
Do I just need my wedding certificate and the wife's I'd card? And the usual copies.

Thanks ubonjoe, your insights are always welcome.
Does being married to a Thai make any difference to a short term extension?
What documents needed if so?
I will be applying at Chonburi where my last extension was issued.

Hi,
Many thanks for the info.
Greatly appreciated.

Hi,
My current retirement extension is about to expire.
My question is, due to the current amnesty extension (30th Nov) can I wait and renew my extension until the last week in November? Or possibly apply for a 60 day extension?
There are valid reasons for wanting to do this.
-
Unsettling news, in the past CW have always friendly and helpful.
Any idea where I can download this new form?
Thanks.
-
Many thanks for the good news.
I am married and have proof of Address.
Is it best to go a few days before it expires? Ie does the 60 days take effect from the date of application or the current extension expiry date?
Thanks again.

Hi,
I am currently on a retirement visa extension which expires mid October issued at Chonburi.
Due to covid I have had problems getting funds here in time for the required "seasoning".
My question is, I am planning on going to Chaeng Wattana (my residential area) to apply for a 60 day extension.
Does anyone have any experience of this, ie will it be accepted?
All constructive comments would be very welcome.
Thanks in advance. -
Many thanks again for your comment, invaluable as always.
I will do as you advised.
I am trying to comply with the law. I simply do not understand why they throw up so many hurdles.
-
Thank you for your response.
I have always used my Bangkok address for all my 90 day reports.
Not sure if Chonburi would accept that?
I have no other address.
-
I have specific reasons for not being able to make it which is not open to discussion.
As for the 90 day report, half the farang population is confused.
Why Chaeng Wattana declined after years of acceptance is a mystery.
-
Your quite right. Unfortunately he has closed up shop.
I am switching to a Bangkok based agent offering a superior service who will take care of the extension transfer and the new extension in Pattaya.
He seems uncertain as to the 90 day report.

Hi,
Here is my dilemma.
I am now the proud owner of a new passport (British), went to Chaeng Wattana (Bangkok resident) to get my retirement extension transferred, request denied.Since my last extension was issued in Chonburi the transfer needs to be done there, as does my 90 day report (because of the new passport was cited).
Due to the amnesty I skipped my June 6th submission. I am currently awaiting a response from my mail application but from what I have read, it will be denied. My problem is that I cannot make to Chonburi until the 16th October for my next extension (I use an agent).
Will I be penalised? I have read also that the passport will be stamped stating I've been a naughty boy? So much for the amnesty!Would greatly appreciate any advise/comments.
Thanks in advance.

Disturbing, just about to send mine.
Thanks for the info
-
Hi,
Excellent news, thank you.
It's difficult trying to keep up with the current rules as they keep changing and are always suitably vague.
Thanks again
-
Hi,
Many thanks for the info.
As I said my last report was due on 16th June
With the amnesty I ignored it.
Will my postal application be accepted given the lapse?
The reason I am doing it now is that I am about to apply for a new passport and would like to avoid any future confusion which always arises

Hi,
Many thanks ubonjoe.
Just to let you know, went to MTT yesterday. My request for a 60 da extension (or any extension) was rejected out of hand.was referred back to CW.
Went to CW, same result. Even though all my paper work was in order.
Was told to leave the country and start again.
The borders are closed! What can I do?
Can I appeal? If so how?
Many thanks.
