I was in Chiang Mai a couple of years ago and got very sick. I had to go to the hospital there. I had a respiratory infection. I thought it was because I had been in Bangkok before going to Chiang Mai. I am thinking about retirement in Thailand. I want to get out of Dallas do to allergy problems. I guess Chiang Mai would not be a good place for me.

I am sure I will do a lot of looking when I get there. It has been 5 years since I was there last, and I am sure things have changed. Maybe a condo would be a better option.

Thanks for all your help. We was thinking Thailand or Costa Rica. My wife wants Thailand due to the fact it is closer to her home Country of S. Korea.

I would be able to do $2000 a month US if it included utilities. I would rather have nice than big. It is just my wife and I.

When I was there I loved the Island. I did not go to Koh Tao. I can always catch a plane for a dive trip.

I would want a 12 month lease. A nice condo would be ok.

My wife and I would like to retire in Koh Samui, or Koh Tao. We are not looking for a huge place, just nice. 1 or 2 bed room, swimming pool with a view would be nice. When I was there I stayed in a hotel. I did drive around the Island one time. My budget is around $5000 US a month. I would like to keep my rent down around $1000 to $1500US a month. Is that a good budget for a nice place? If that is not possible then we will look in other parts of Thailand. I love the water, and scuba diving.
