Your OP is basically correct.
The bank letter confirms you are account holder and balance on that day.
You will need provide bank book and photocopies to show 800k in bank for 2 months prior to application.
Also need to bankbook to show monthly deposits from previous extension.
As my previous extension was based on an affadavit, do I need to show monthly deposits to immigration on this initial 800K extension or just the bank letter and passbook with the 800K?
-
Have been using the embassy affadavit method for the past 5 years, however I intend to use the 800K nested method going forward. My understanding is that for this initial extension using 800K method, all that is required is a letter from my bank confirming that the 800K has been on deposit for at least 2 months - is that correct? (Do I need to bring bank book as well even if the account is only 6 months old?)
I also understand that I will need to keep a minimum balance of 800K for three months following the extension and then a minimum of 400K during the next 7 months before topping up again to 800K for the final 2 months before the next extension - is that correct?
As for the next extension, I will require a letter from the bank confirming the 800K for two months as well as statements (stamped by the bank) confirm the balances throughout the previous 12 months - is that correct?
Appreciate any and all feedback as don't want to get be shorthanded at Rayong immigration ????
Thanks

Hi All,
Having lived in Thailand for many years on an annual retirement extension, I naively thought myself as a foreign resident. However, on a recent overseas trip it was made clear by two different Thai embassies that I am classified as a "Long Stay Visitor (OA - up to one-year)" and not as a foreign resident & that the 21 -day stay in an approved country/s was required to obtain a COE for the Phuket sandbox.
Noting the recent changes effective November 1st for incoming travel, the following statement echoes what I recently experienced, so there does not appear to be any relief for those of us that live here as Long Stay Visitor but who travel frequently:
"For returning Thais and foreign residents, it is not necessary to be in the approved country for 21 days or more, as long as they re traveling from Thailand to the approved country/s and return within the last 21 days"
Would anyone be aware of any provisions to the revised travel policy (returning to Thailand after departing Thailand) that would apply for those expats livings in Thailand as "Long Stay Visitors" ?
Thanks

I understand that you can apply either up to 30 or 45 days before the expiry date of your current extension depending upon which IM office. Does anyone have knowledge or experience of whether it's 30 or 45 days at the Mapthaput office?
Thanks

Yes, you will be able to do your next 90-day report on-line.
It is only the very first time you do your 90-day report that it has to be done in person at your local IO (because your IO will compare the data you upload on-line with the physical file they made from your 90-day notification in person).
Some IOs will re-set your 90-day reporting time-line when renewing your 1-year extension of stay, in that case they will provide you with a paper (often stapled in your passport) that will show the next 90-day reporting due date (which will be exactly 90-days after your extension renewal).
But if your IO does not follow that practice, your 90-day reporting due date will stay as it was (in your case first week of October).
Thanks again, that's most helpful. Are the specific dates before and after the deadline when the online report can be submitted?
-
Thanks for the responses, most appreciated. I'm still a little unclear on whether I can do my next 90-day reporting online or not. I did my last 90-day at the IO in July and my next one is due in October. In the meantime, I renewed my retirement extension the first week of September. Does the restriction of doing the 1st 90-day report at the IO only apply to the very first time or does it apply to the 1st time each extension renewal period (each year)?
What are the before and after deadline dates in terms of online reporting? is it the same as reporting in person (15 days/7 days)?
Thanks again

I just renewed my retirement extension for another year and ask the IO whether I needed to return on October 9th to do my 90-day report or did the extension reset the 90 day clock. She said that it did not and that I would need to come back in October to do my 90-day report. I have a few questions which I hope someone can assist:
1. I live in Rayong but will be visiting family in another province next month - can I do my 90-day report at an immigration office that is not my "home" office?
2. Alternatively, I can try to do it online but have read that this only works if it's the 2nd 90-day report after my extension was renewed as the 1st 90-day report needs to be done in person - is that the case?
3. I read a number of mixed experiences (success and failures) when it comes to 90-day online reporting - is there a specific combination of browser/OS that does work better than others?
Appreciate the support, thanks.

Thanks to both for your response!

My current retirement extension of stay is valid until September 17, 2019. I normally do the renewal about 1 week before expiry however, this year I will be traveling overseas starting on September 5th. As a result, I was planning to renew on September 2nd. Is there a limitation to how early you can renew?
Thanks

There are mixed reports about that. It appears to be random.
Thanks for the feedback.

In the past, my retirement extensions have been done using the tried and true 90 day 800K seasoning method whereby I get a letter from the bank/submit photocopies of my bank book.
This year, I have a letter from my embassy confirming income - do I still need to provide to provide any banking information?
Thanks

No
It would only be valid for the 30 day under consideration period.
A re-entry permit issued for the permit to stay you have. There would be no one year extension granted when it was applied for during the under consideration period.
Thanks Joe
-
On a related matter, if you get a multiple entry permit during the 30-day "under consideration" period, would that be valid for the entire 1 year extension period once approved (since I believe that the 30-days is part of the 1 year extension period)?
-
no intention to empty the account, just wanted to confirm that I could withdraw 30-40K living expenses during the consideration period, thanks Joe.
-
Further to my initial query, is it still require to maintain the minimum THB 400K balance during the consideration period? Or is the two months leading up to the application date sufficient? Thanks
-
Thanks for the clarification.

There's a possibility that I may apply for a marriage extension instead of retirement extension later this year. I understand that after the documents are submitted at immigration, they will issue a 1 month extension to your visa whilst they review/approve the application. My current visa has a multiple entry permit and my question is: will I be able to travel in/out of Thailand during this 1 month extension period while they are reviewing, etc.?
Thanks,

Would appreciate clarity on the combined method of income and money in the bank, is it a simple formula of meeting the 800K total?
Example would be 400K in the bank (for 3 months prior) and 35K monthly income (12 x 35K = 420K) or any combination thereof? Thanks
-
Is there a specific time period prior to or after the renewal date that the income letter from your embassy is required to cover? Or is it only needed to be dated within 30 days prior to renewal?
-
Thanks for the clarification - is there a minimum monthly income amount that immigration requires for the extension based upon retirement?
-
I've had a retirement extension for the past few years always managing to have the requisite THB 800K in the bank for 3 months prior to each renewal. This year's a bit different in that I won't have the full amount. I work outside Thailand (e.g. Singapore) and was informed by a colleague that he was in a similar position last year and arranged for his company (e.g. Singapore company) to write a letter confirming his monthly salary (e.g THB 150K), had the letter certified by his embassy in Bangkok (UK) and successfully submitted this to immigration for his retirement extension. I've read on this forum that it's usually either the THB 800K or a certified letter confirming monthly pension income (e.g. THB 65K) from an external country that is required and seen nothing on whether a certified letter from an external employer confirming income is also valid for a Thai retirement extension. Appreciate any guidance?
-
I understand that the letter certifying an income over THB 65,000 can also come from an employer (if you work overseas and your payroll is deposited overseas) and be certified by the local embassy with no need to have the THB 800K deposited for 3 months. However, I'm not clear on that letter being valid for 6 months - what does that exactly mean?
-
Thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention that I already have a multiple re-entry permit - question is upon return with my new passport (and old passport) at Suvarnabhuni is my current retirement extension/multiple re-entry permit still valid from the old passport and will allow me entry into the kingdom after which I can go to immigration and get the retirement extension/multiple re-entry permit transferred to the new passport? Has anybody recently done this and were there are specifics that need to be addressed before leaving Thailand so that I don't have to start the entire Non-immigrant Visa/extension process again?

Hello All,
I have a family member planning to visit me in Thailand and although they will be bringing their portable travel unit, I am looking to rent a
an Oxygen Concentrator that can deliver a continuous flow of 2.0 Litres per minute for sleeping. The units they prefer to use are:
1. Philips Respironics SimplyGo Portable Oxygen Concentrator
2. Philips Respironics Everflo O Home Oxygen System
Would very much appreciate if anyone can direct me to a medical services company in Bangkok, Chonburi or Rayong area that rents/ services these units for a 2 month period?
Thanks
