  1. By the way...I'm a <deleted> Welsh <deleted>...who wants THB 500,000? :D

    er mate, I must be a <deleted> English <deleted> then! :D

    :D

:o At least you are getting it back!

PS - I have no idea who you are :D

  2. Nah, you should beware of both foreigners and locals at the same time. I think the former just stings more because your stupidity becomes more evident (while the latter, you can still blame and whinge about the country and cultural differences... although yes, stupidity is likely the culprit there as well).

    :D

One "scam" thast gets me is those Thais who do those annoying "surveys" but really

they just want to take you to some 3rd rate hotel

chain where you can win a "prize" if you sign up for membership in their travel club.

Seems to be in Bangkok and Pattaya....Maybe not really a scam but pretty close..

When they ask where you are from just say "Sweden" and I promise you they will say thank you and look for the next schmuck

    Why? :D

You beat me to it! :o

    By the way...I'm a <deleted> Welsh <deleted>...who wants THB 500,000? :D

    Any Swedes on here yet?

I am dying to know why being tall, handsome and blonde makes these people run a mile :D

  3. another one

Then there's a developer, among other things he offers to assist with the sale of a acquaintances property. Very nice desirable property and he has an associate coming out from the UK looking for Investment property on which to build resorts and hotels, and feels sure that this particular property will be of interest.

A few weeks later he goes to the property with a couple of men in tow and reports that they are very interested but are not Mr Big, Mr Big is a very old man and will be coming to Thailand shortly.

Shortly apparently turns in to several months, with the proposed arrival date getting put off from one to the next.

Eventually the old bloke turns up, the owners are asked to vacate the premises while the developer shows the old chap around. He told them he had told the old chap that the property was his...

A few days later he rings and tells them that the old chap is interested and will be going home to the UK to organise a deposit. Once again several months pass, with the deposit supposed to be arriving each week.

Eventually Christmas comes around apparently the old chap has borrowed several million english pounds from the bank but the monery won't be cleared until after the New Year.

New Year comes and the friends are in a spot of bother and thinking the deposit might be through ring the developer to see if it has arrived. no, the bit of bother was roughly outlined and the developer suggested that the friends transfer their property into his Thai wifes name where it would be SAFE.

The friends have a sticky situation but they are not stupid and decline.

One of the problems was my friends kept getting different stories, it was said that no way would the old chap send money to Thailand but he would transfer it into an English bank account. On another occassion he said that the money would be paid to his offshore account and he would pay it from there.

    8 months later no sale.

This friend becomes friends with another Farang trying to sell his business, they get to talking and he finds out the same person says he has a very old man coming out from England shortly and he feels sure that the buisness will compliment the resorts and hotels he intends to built in Thailand.

I make no comment, just state the facts, you draw your own conclusions.

As an aforementioned stupid Welsh <deleted>, this sounds great!

When can I put my 500K into this kind of thing please?

Hurry...the money burning a hole in my wellies!!!!

  4. No cheap airlines Bangkok to Hong Kong

Cheapest way is Air Asia via Macau, but you have the added cost and inconvienience of ferry to and from Hong kong and Macau.

    I agree.

I have outlined an itinerary including your suggestion already, and it could take up to 48 hours to get to the UK. Total cost (using Virgin Air) including ferries, Air Asia (URGH) would be just short of 30,000.

Probably better to go EVA for around 40,000-43,000 from BKK and have done with it.

    Thanks though for the input.

  5. By the way...I'm a <deleted> Welsh <deleted>...who wants THB 500,000? :D

I'll have it Taffy, I'll pay you back next week when my money comes through ! :o

    Cool.

Just let me have a nicely presented business plan for the pub/bar/restaurant/massage parlour and I will transfer it in cash immediately. Back of a fag packet will do, no need for fancy spreadhseets.

No need to pay it back...just promise to pay it back, that is enough for me.

Anyway, your name is "I NOT LIE" so what have I got to be worried about!

  8. I just come here asking some question and a bunch of trouble makers come and stir some shit up. Instead of making some smart arse comments how about some REAL ADVICE people. geez, make me angry :o

I think my advice pertaining to imagining your Grandmother on the bog squeezing out a big beer turd was remarkably close to REAL ADVICE. :D

Apologies for making you so angry....hey...maybe your current anger will help when you hug her??????????????????????????????

    Just a thought.

  9. Has this really got anything to do with Thai culture or nudity? I remember when I lived in the UK (supposedly a very liberal, equalitarian country) being shocked by rape statistics. It was something like 1 in 4 women would be a survivor of a sexual assault. So the liberal, equalitarian attitudes did not seem to stop the minority of deranged individuals from committing crimes. Neither did the almost continual sub-zero temperatures and so lack of nudity.

Sh!t...1 in 4 Brits raping innocent women? A minority? 25% of the male population sexually assaulting? Methinks you read (past tense) wrong.

    I wish I did "read wrong" but I am afraid I didn't:

"1 in 4 women have experienced rape or attempted rape" Painter, 1991

    http://www.rapecrisis.org.uk/stats.html

    http://www.rapecrisis.org.uk/HOFindings159.pdf

must be looking at a different set of stats.

    Astonishing statistic!

    Thanks for the heads up.

    Continual Sub-Zero temperatures? http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/uk/200.../averages1.html

Take a look at the UK annual average low temp at 6 degrees.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story..eh? :o

  11. This thread has even more rubbish than most. (I hate the Thai can do no bad mob)

Thailand is set up as a holiday destination, and glossy ads are sent out by the Thai authorities to countries all over the World. These ads show happy people on beaches in skimpy bathing suits, walking on secluded beaches with exotic drinks in hand and generally having a carefree holiday in a paradise.

It is thus the same Thai authorities responsibility to protect said tourists when they arrive here and behave in the way that the advertising promotes.

A list of things that the authorities have an obligation to protect said tourists from include; Drunk policemen killing said tourists. Horny fishermen killing said tourists. Jealous local boys killing said tourists. Mafia wannabes killing said tourists, etc etc

A list of irresponsible behaviour by said authorities would include; Avoiding prosecuting policemen at all costs. Pointing the finger at foreign migrant workers for as many crimes as possible. Senior politicians accusing foreign women's dress code as being their own death sentence (the dress code being identical to the Thai promotional ads...). Protecting the children of wealthy folk at all costs. Covering up as many crimes as possible to avoid 'embarassment, etc etc

Conclusion; Thai authorities are badly letting down the foreign tourists.

My opinion; This is unlikely to change any time soon. 10%, 25%, 50% or 100% of foreign tourists could be murdered, and the Thai authorities would not lift a finger to protect them. If they make money short term then they are happy. End of story.

This is the best post so far...well said (IMO).

  12. I find myself bowing whenever I walk between anyone (even on the golf course with my hairy-arsed mates). :D

I quite happily sit on a motor bike to go to and from work and let him go as fast as he wants without worrying. :D

If there is a baby within 50 metres, I feel an uncontrollable urge to go and mother-hen it. B)

I say "oh-hooor" when something exciting or different happens (this is also uncontrollable, but does need some kind of attention, I realize that). :D

    I say "ow-EE" if I drop something. :D

I count in Thai (verbally and mentally). :D

I happily sit behind someone holding the WHOLE of Sukhumvit Road up with some bizarre driving maneuver, and remain calm :o

    Am I getting close???

PS - I do still have a huge member and I am getting fat, so I guess I am nowhere near being Thai just yet :D

Edit...changed the 'member' word from being a rude one

  13. One can only hope and cross ones fingers that the air traffic control system is a more 'hi-tech' version of what you have described.

I suspect there are times when it is similar (minus the flags...obviously!).

You suspect that Air Traffic controllers in Thailand are somehow inferior because they're Thai people ?

    You're kidding right? :o

Who else works in the Thai Air Traffic Control Centre.

    But touchy today aren't we?

  14. Yep...we sh@g 'em, and you eat 'em...seems a fair trade off to me! B)

    :D :D :D

    :D:D

    Oh....I forgot.

If you find a tough but in your next plate of lamb...it's probably part of my welly.

    Nosdar butty's

    :o

    :D

Good on you CAB, at least you've go a sense of humour, and aren't bleating on about how un PC my original comment was, even though it was in total jest.

Your most welcome! Enough PC crap going on in this world. Happy to bring a smile to a couple of people.

I would love to stay longer, but I have to go and get the velcro straps on my wellies replaced. I am finding the sheep can break their back legs out of the straps too easy lately.

    Oh...and my mum's name was...Baaaaaaabara.
