  3. A friend of mine set up a company a few years back but never has any transactions, neither income nor expenses, from the start. However, as the rule, the company has to file accounting reports every year. In the past 2 years, we decided not to pay any more accounting fee, which is 10K every year for doing nothing.

We just have received a letter from government agency to pay fine for not submitting financial statements. The company director resides overseas, doesn't come to Thailand for almost 2 years now and has every intention to close his company registration.

Is there any way to de-register a company name without having to pay for accounting fees and fine? Will appreciate any advice.

The other thing I forgot to mention is the high turnover of staff. They seem to resign or just not rock up to work for no apparent reason.

I agree with the written job descriptions, explain all details at every step and what to do when encounter problems so they know what are required of them to perform their tasks. This probably filters out unqualified people in the first place. As you mentioned it, wait staff have a lot more duties than just serving food. So when they apply for the job they would know what they have to do. This is also Australian's public service practice as well, at least in NSW. Every position has job description outlines what employees are expected to do, and for some duties have manual specify what and how to do things.

Maybe you should consider having (a) consultant/s to manage workforce especially your business that has been in existence in Thailand for nearly 5 years and have high staff turnover rate.

Good news if you have cancer or a terminal disease. Otherwise you won't be approved.

At Pranburi Clinic I was denied THC for degenerative disk disease and scoliosis (verified by x-ray at the clinic) but offered monthly morphine injections. All done with a straight face by the doctor. I told him to <deleted> off and left the office.

You might want to try รพ.แพทย์แผนไทย located near Hua Lamphong train station. They have kanja clinic at very reasonable price. But you must be accompanied with a Thai person to be able to communicate with them.

I think we might both be correct on this one as it's both legal and illegal. If true it would be excellent news if everyone was able to grow it without so much formal regulations. My Thai isn't that flash without my iPad for vocabulary assistance.

Even if you're very proficient in Thai, you will most likely be confused reading/listening to these news, even from Thai FDA. You will need to use your intuitive, critical thinking to understand what they're trying to communicate. ????

Where does it say you ca't sell the flowers?Did you hear about it on the "news"?And you believed it?

You can only sell flowers and seeds to some designated government agencies such as Tambol Hospitals รพ สต, not in general markets as flowers and seeds are still illegal products. The prices to sell these stuff are not competitive as it's a monopoly.

But good news is they are considering amending a law so that everyone can grow plants without having to register as วิสาหกิจชุมชน

  8. I just talked to the school principal (finally) and was told the 9 y.o. girl now had been discharged home but will have to come to the hospital for further treatments. She needed AB+ which is widely available in Thailand. When the first post was circulated to the public she sure needed a lot of blood Platelets. She had undergone chemo-therapies.

As someone said earlier, people going through this kind of treatment will need a lot of blood from many donors. I will ask the moderators to delete the attachment and the school's contact details as it's no longer urgent.

Sadly I was also told that she came from a poor family. But the prognosis is good due to her young age.

Thank you so much for all your kindness.

  9. I think there is an upper age limit in Thailand for donating blood, at 65 I was told "too old" somebody else at 57 was told the same.

According to the Thai Red Cross, you can donate up until you're 75 (if I can remember it correctly) provided you've been donating for all your life. Otherwise the maximum age is 55 if you're first timer.

  10. If she were, she would know that the way to get problems like that sorted out is to make contact with someone in a high enough position to be of help.

Expect to pay for the service.

That's what I think too. But you know currently we have a military man as a PM who I think is trying to get rid of corruption. So it's a bit tricky.

  12. I know a 25 years old who just officially applied for a Thai citizenship last year. He lives overseas all his life and not possible to take leave from work to come here. His mother went to a Susdee (where young men must report to them) and requested to be exempted/postpone for this year's selection. The answer from the highest authority in that room wasn't clear, couldn't come to the conclusion what they have to do - which is typical to Thais to mastering their FAQ. At the end she left her and her son's info with that lieutenant colonel as he promised to look into it. She didn't quite understand what that meant, and with no proof at all that things would turn out okay for her son - no paperwork, nothing only dialogues between him and herself.

So, my question is Does anyone know what to do and where to go to get an exemption from conscription? Thank you.

  13. Any member who is able to donate blood PLEASE DO.

When i had my accident i needed 4 units of blood, hospital said to my wife please find 4 people to donate blood, as your husband is getting 4 units, please find people. Yes my wife got people to donate. One of them is a TV member.

Please help as you never know when it might be you needing blood.

    Thank you.

You're absolutely right, you'll never know one day you or someone you know might need this.

  14. would not accept a blood donation from me because I was "too old". (At the time, I was about about 60 but as I recall the nurse said no blood donations over 55 years.)

Note: I am in very good health with no illnesses, obesity, etc.

Does anyone know why this policy exists and does it extend to all Thai hospitals?

According to the Thai Redcross webpage, a blood donor, apart from normal health requirement, must be between the age of 17 - 70 years old. Clarification as follows:

    1. donor ages between 60 - 65 : must donate regularly - every 4 months - until reaching the age of 60 y.o.
    2. donor ages between 65 - 70 : must donate regularly - every 6 months - from the age of 60 -65

if you have never donated blood all your life, you cannot be a donor at the age of 55 onwards.

  15. Any blood group will be useful as this is a direct request from the hospital due to short supply.

The requesting blood group for my friend is B. The hospital advised they would accept any when specifically donate to my friend and would reserve group B as required.
