  1. What about tax here in Thailand when someone rents House apartment +++. Tried fore 2 days ago but was erased by UbonJoe (But you do a wonderful job UbonJoe You should know that).

But one big problem down here in Phuket and region is att more and more landlords will not write the contract, the reason is as simple att Immigration and Tax Administration have begun and cooperation about tax and that is good for Thailand.

So the rule is 15% tax on rental notify the Tax Office per month (Especially in Phuket) If they that you, You get 60% penalty tax on top off 15 %.

My neighbor was properly taken by the Tax office here in Phuket.

Does anyone know anything about rental tax house / Apartment in Thailand ?

Phuket: Big changes made to driving test system

With a huge backlog of people wanting their driver licences renewed, and with an eye on improving road skills, the Phuket Provincial Land Transport Office (PLTO) is farming out driving tests to a private driving school, the Chotima Driving School on Phra Phuket Kaew Rd.

The new system is part of a national initiative to reorganise and improve driving skills and driving tests while at the same time reducing the burden on PLTO staff.

As of Monday (January 5) all applicants for driving tests must be able to show that they have taken some form of classroom and practical training in how to drive. Failing this, they will not be allowed to register to take the test.

Learner drivers are now able to take lessons and then also take the test at the Chotima School. The test will be identical to the one set at the PLTO. If they pass, they can then take the certificate issued by Chotima to the PLTO and receive their shiny new license.

Learner drivers can also do classroom and practical training in driving at four of the island’s colleges: Rajabhat University, the Polytechnic College, the Technical College, Thalang Technical College, and the Skill Development Centre.

But they will not get the full certificate entitling them to a license.

Instead, after four hours of training they will get a “proof of completion” document which they can take to the PLTO and apply for a license. Unlike graduates of the Chotima School they must still take the driving test at the PLTO.

By farming out the tests, the PLTO staff are now able to reduce the time they spend on new drivers from five days a week to three, giving them more time to work on the backlog of renewals.

Jaturong Kaewkasi, the PLTO’s Chief Adviser, told The Phuket News, “We want to increase the number of renewals we handle each day from 50 to 100.”

He added, “This is a national initiative of the Transportation Department because the Department wants people to be trained, to learn and to practice before getting licences.”

Now, anyone wanting to take the driving test at the PLTO must be there for registration between 8 and 9am on Monday, Thursday or Friday. Only 70 people will be processed per day. The test takes two full days to complete.

Registration for licence renewals is open from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 1pm. Currently, no more than 50 people a day will be registered.

For more information contact the PLTO at 076-214 930. For the Chotima School call 076 612 661 or visit facebook.com/chotimadrivingschool.

I renewed my driver's license yesterday in Phuket (5 years) and then they informed all Farang about the new rules from January 2016.

As if you forget and renew your driving license then you must at school 8 hours and a test of 100 questions and where you MUST have 95% correct crying.gif , but remember you can renew the driver license 3 months before it expires, i do that last day to. wai2.gif

I did my driving license 3 days ago, and after doing the normal eye /brake tests, i was put in a class room and did listen to a policeman talk about all the road rules for 2 hours and then we had a 1 hour break then back to the class room for another 2 hours, next day was another 2 hours, and then we were given a plastic card with a chip on it we had to insert into computer and do the test questions, 50 for the car and 50 for the motorbike, we had to get 45 right for each test, when we passed we were taken to a driving test area, where we had to ride the bike around a curcuit, then the car test which involved a reverse parallel parking , i was told this is the tests now for any one who does not renew in time.

Here in Phuket we look at 1 video about 1 hour ++ sometime, and the brake test :) but the computer test are the same and driving test. But from January 2016 it`s new rules 8 hours school and then 100 questions and you must have 95% right, so don`forget to renew your driving license you can renew 3 month before expire Date.

    so it's an unofficial source.

You se 1 January 2016 what happend.

  5. Source please (maybe there is).

The rules have already been changed (was it this year or end of last year?) to 50 questions, 45 to be correct, 90%.

I had to sit for a whole office day in a morning and afternoon session to listen to lengthy lectures and watching a boring video.

So the 8h sit in does not sound like new to me.

    Theory test next morning.

    Had 47 correct, passed.

That was in July this year (2015) for motorcycle license.

100 questions, 95 correct? The Thais already have to struggle hard to match the 45 q. (90%) limit.

And the test duration would reach an unbearable length.

As far as I remember they have already up to 2 (!) h for the 50 questions?

Just checked: the last change to 50 q. with 45 correct was on June 1st, 2014.

BTW: for Thais there is a pool of 1000 (!) questions from which 50 are selected for the test.

In English the pool consists of only 90 (!) questions.

Like a say from January 1. 2016. NEW ROULS. They tell every Farang and Thai last day (when we se this movie we se every time we want new license) , from next year it`s be more strict and difficult to take Driving license in Thailand, and if you forget to renew you must take the school and new test, what more can a say.

Take a call to the Office where you get your Driver license and ask them.

  8. There are immigration offices in Thailand that have stopped issuing a certificate of residence because of whining like this. whistling.gif BTW there is no law that says an immigration office has to issue this document.wink.png

But if you want a driver licens you must have one certificate of residence to the office where you get the driver license.

    Or yellow housebook or workpermit.

They weren't interested in anything to do with work permits at the driving license office in Phuket when I got mine, just a certificate of residence from immigration.

Or did you mean you need a COR to obtain a yellow housebook or workpermit ( sorry if i misunderstood) blink.png

You ned certificate of residence from Immigration.

  9. I also paid 300 THB in a Jomtien for the CoR,

However, considering what I have to pay for similar services in my home country -despite the huge tax burden - , it's more than acceptable. Just as example: my consulate here is charging European prices, the legislation / verification of just for 4 pages was 1900 baht ...

Imagine, from whom I felt exploitet - the Thai or my own home country?

ask for a letter from THE BRITISH EMBASSY and see how much they CHARGE.

certificate of residence from all Immigration in Thailand It`s FREE, Something you do not understand ?

  10. I got my certificate a few weeks ago in Phuket, the immigration officer asked me for 300B til I pointed out it was free, he laughed and quickly changed the subject.I didn't pay.

I too don't understand why there are no camera's in there, they should be behind each officer, so the "alien" and the officer are in the picture! laugh.png

Just like in shops where the camera is on the till - it's to stop the shop assistants stealing as well as keeping an eye on the customer.

If every buddy start to use mobil camera, i start from to day.

And I bet that a trip from Pattaya to Bangkok for the Embassy letter would have cost rather more than 300 THB in its own right!

This papir in Thailand IT´S FREE you get it fore Farang and Thai but you ned Certificate of residence from immigration and this Immigration that 300 Nbat But it`s free ????

  12. Going over old ground and repeating myself, but apart from Immigration and your Embassy, Certificates of Residency can also be obtained from Police Stations and your local Amphur office (free)

I got my first C of R from my local Police Station to purchase my motorcycle.

I got my second C of R also from the local Police to get my Tabian Baan (house book).

The Tabian Baan is the ultimate proof of registered address and accepted by all government departments.

What do you think the Thais use!

Thai use ID Card, And if you have a long trip to Immigration like 5-6 hours driving then you can use the local Police station.

  13. To all you people shouting "Get a yellow book"...

First. You need a certificate of residence to get a yellow book. (500 baht, no receipt, at Chiang Mai Immigration) A catch 22 situation.

Second. Not all people can get a yellow book...me for example.

My wife of four years is Thai, we own a house here and I am on a retirement visa (extension). I have applied at our local Kweng three times and he is just obstructive, moving the goalposts each time, until I have all-but given up.

I got my Yellow Book within two weeks of setting foot in Thailand. I arrived on a Retirement O-A Visa. No certificate of residence required to get the Yellow Book.

Went to the district office in my part of Bangkok with the Thai wife and a Thai friend....two hours later I walked out of the district office with my Yellow Book. My Yellow Book has been used many times over last 7 years or so in opening bank accounts, getting the initial drivers license and renewals, buying a SUV, tax refunds, etc. Have never had to get a Certificate of Residence...the Yellow Book always make everyone happy since a Yellow Book is nothing more than an address/house registration issued by the local Thai govt.

You rent a house or apartment ? You now many people rent and this can not get the Yellow book.

  14. I am confused.

"This is the way it is in Asia".

"Accept the local culture, don't try to change it".

"If you don't like it, why stay?"

Maybe the rosy glassed apologists should come out of their closet.

And admit that they are extreme racists.

"Ah those little people of Thailand, we love them, they do not know better = it is their culture".

Now I let you guess who does the Thai bashing at our house.

But my wife is different, obviously. And she has spent much time in Europe.

So corruption is ok for you? When you think Thailand coming forward? it´s coming less and less tourists who leave money here, it now comes mostly Chinesere and this money go strait back to China 0 Bath Tourist.Thais have become too greedy especially here in Phuket, but now they get their own medicine no money :) And i like it.
