  1. Does anyone know of a good doctor in CM who treats allergies?

Its a good idea to find what it is that is causing the allergy. Did you move into a new place lately? What are the symptoms? Sneezing, itchy watery eyes, congestion?

Exactly! I'm looking for a good place to be tested for allergies. I have all the symptoms above and want to sort out what I need to do to minimize exposure to those and treat the remaining symptoms. Anyone know off a good doctor to do these tests?

  2. I've had a Thai tutor for the last 4 years who is very good. She speaks English well and has had a lot of experience teaching Thai. She graduated from college last year and has been tutoring several hours a day since then. Her rate is 250 bt/ hour. If you are interested, I'll give you her contact information.

  3. We're looking for a dog groomer to come to our house and groom our two small dogs. Does anyone know of a good one who will travel to our house? We live in north Chiang Mai on the Mae Jo Road. Thanks

  4. Why on earth did you let it go for 3 months?

I would suggest, as others have, to present yourself to immigration, but don't go waving money and bottles of Scotch around. Suss out the situation when you are there and perhaps make an offer.

The normal overstay rate these days is 500 baht per day so you'll be up for at least THB50,000. A few years ago the maximum penalty was 20,000 baht but that was when the day rate for overstay was 100 baht per day. I'm not sure what the maximum is these days

If the officials want to get nasty you'll goto jail and when you get out you'll be on the blacklist, ie. not welcome back in Thailand.

    Best get it sorted asap.

I got mixed up and thought my annual visa renewal was due in October. I've been really busy the last couple of months. My daughter came here from the US to get married along with other family & friends. I never gave a thought to renewing my visa until I went to apply for a visa to Vietnam and looked through my passport. What a shock.

I know I'll have to pay the fine. My dilemma is whether I should go to immigration in CM and throw myself on their mercy and try to get another retirement extension- or should I just to pay at BKK when I go to Vietnam in a couple of weeks? I can apply for a new Thai visa when I'm in Hanoi.

  5. My O visa and retirement extension expired 101 days ago. Can I go to CM immigration and get this straightened out (pay fine?) and get another extension?

Has anyone done this or had any experience with overstay in CM? Will they approve another retirement extension if I'm eligilble?

I understand it's possible immigration will give me a 7 day to leave the country, but has anyone gotten a retirement extension under these circumstances?

  6. I'm 101 days overstayed on a non imm O visa (retirement extension). I just realized I've overstayed when I was taking my passport to a travel agency to get a visa to travel to Vietnam in 19 days. What do I do now? Should I go to immigration in Chiang Mai and apply for another visa and pay a fine to them? OR or should I wait until I depart Bangkok and pay a fine when I leave for Vietnam (if they notice)? OR would it be better for me to go over the border at Luang Prabang (paying a fine if necessary) and return by applying for a 90 day non imm O visa or a visa on arrival at Luang Probang? If anyone has advice on this, I really would appreciate it.

I did not complete my application for a Vietnam visa at the travel agency when I noticed the problem., If I decide to pay the fine when I leave Thailand for Vietnam, can I risk handing my passport over to the travel agency to obtain the Vietnam visa?

Incidently: My visa expired on July 20, 2008. I made my 90 day residence report on July 21, 2008 and they gave me a new report date of October 18,2008.

Has anyone applied for new extension of retirement visa at immigration while overstaying previous extension?

  7. I'm confused because discussions on the other topics (Extreme Overstay, etc.) say you can't get an extension if you're already overstayed. My visa & my retirement extension are both overstayed since July 20, 2008. The only paper I have mentioning a later date is my 90 day notification paper.

In most of the cases you read they had nothing to extend. And no legal reason for immigration to grant an extension.

You should have no problem getting your extension. I think also if you point out their error it may help a little.

    Good Luck

    Joe

Great, thanks. I'm going to apply for a retirement extension on my expired visa of 101 days at Chiang Mai immigration.

Has anyone out there ever done this at CM immigration?

  8. Either way I would pay it at Suan Plu - but on the day you fly of course.

Why would it be better to pay when I depart Thailand rather than go to immigration? I live in Chiang Mai and will need to get another visa. Where is Suan Plu?

It's in Bangkok. Go ahead and get your extension.

  9. Your original visa can expire it is your extension that counts.

    When does your extension expire.

Looking at your report date due on Oct. 18 you had an extension until at least that date.

You are past due on your report that it is not an overstay. Fine is 2000 baht.

My retirement extension expired July 20, 2008. I didn't realize it and when I did my 90 day report on July 21, immigration didn't realize it either. On my "Receipt of Notification" on July 21 they stamped my next notification to be 18 October, 2008.

Whether they use July 20 or October 18, I'm still overstayed. What should I do?

  11. The posted phone numbers are correct. If you are Thai and have B+ blood and didn't get an answer, please try again. We're trying to keep the phone with us at all times, but sometines cannot. Our Thai friend is in a Thai hopsital, and they told us they would take only Thai national blood, B+. They did not tell us why or if they will at some time accept 0+. She received 2 pints of blood today but will need more in the near future. I'd like to be more candid about her condition and the treatment she has received, but I do not want to jeopardize what treatment she is now receiving. I believe it is the result of past treatment that she is now hemorraging from her nose and mouth and any perforation in her skin. This is a truly tragic situation and you would be performing a life-saving service by donating the blood.

  12. Thanks for the good wishes.

They seem to be trying very hard to kill her.

She has blood for today she will need B+ tomorrow again.

THEY WILL ONLY ACCEPT BLOOD FROM THAI NATIONALS?????????????? No kidding. I can not understand this system.

If you have B+ and can give I have the form with her name on it]

    My cell # 087 177 8036

    Land line # 053 854 929

  13. "NOTE: Recent Blood research indicates that where, at one time, a person with type O negative Blood was considered to be a 'universal donor,' this may no longer be correct, because of a better understanding of the complex issues of immune reactions related to incompatible donor Blood cells."

    She is B+.

It seems B is best but they may take what they can get.

    It will be needed tomorrow
