  1. After a long time i had to sign in. What a joke statement of Rtp. Had a good laugh. I witnessed opositee this statement. The border patrol guy was sleeping and if there was 100 people passing him he would not know. To be safe i woke him, ask if i can have walk, said no problem and thats it. The other, legal crossing  not far away you just walk to Myanmar buy booze and walk back. No passport or document chack. Nothing.

  2. I have had a K-Web card linked to a PayPal account for several years. The K-Web card has a life of 2 years and, just before the expiration date, they extend it for another 2 years and issue a new CVV. This year it was not extended. I contacted the call centre and was told it's a new policy to cancel the card after 2 years and issue a completely new card.

This, of course, meant registering the new card with PayPal. As has been said earlier, PayPal debit the account by 70 Baht and included in the description was a 4 digit code which I have to send back to PayPal to confirm the card. Finding out the code was difficult. It was not shown on my online account, or in my passbook. When calling the call centre I was told to contact my local branch, when contacting my local branch I was told to contact the call centre.

I tried contacting PayPal and they said I could confirm the card if I sent them a scan of the card to prove I had it in my possession. I told them it was a virtual card, so I couldn't provide a scan, and they replied that they don't allow virtual cards to be used on PayPal and that they were in the process of checking cards registered with them to discover the virtual ones.

After trying 2 other Kasikorn branches, I eventually got a result. The clerk understood the problem, contacted the call centre himself and got the code. I confirmed the card with PayPal, and finally, all is OK. Until, that is, they discover it's a virtual card. But that may never happen.

And my problem is i am outside of Thailand.

  3. The OP talks about withdrawing from the account. This can only be done by attaching a bank account. It can take up to 10 days for withdrawals to show. If an account number has been entered wrongly then Paypal will show a reversal.

Other posters have gone on to talk about verification. This can be done with the visa debit card K Bank issue although it may be necessary to liaise with the bank as the user code sent by Paypal may not be visible ,which can be difficult.

By registering for cyber banking it is then possible to apply for a web shopping card. This works just like a credit card.

I thought the OP was talking about linking his Kbank account to his paypal account.

Yes exactly. As i was not able see the verification amount on my k bank account when logged into inet bankink. One reason might be that i first put the account with dashes. Cant remember. Now i tried without.

Can i transfer money from paypal account trough virtual card to bank account?

  4. This is the correct reply, anything else is BS from people who know nothing.

Register online for the Kasikorn Virtual Debit Card and link it to that.

    http://www.kasikornbank.com/EN/Personal/Debit/Pages/KWebShopping.aspx

In what way is this correct? Can i move the money from paypal to the bank account when i have registered virtual card?

I need to have money on my Thai account not on virtual card.

  5. After you have opened a Paypal account……

At Kasikorn you need to have online access (K-cyber account) – This is different to just having a normal bank account.

To do this you need to go into Kasikorn bank to get K-cyber access - There you will need to sign a second form (in Thai) that lists name, account number, and email address.

You will then get the login info via email (normally within 24 hours) - This is Kasikorn telling you that your K-cyber account is set up and they will also provide you with a log in and password.

When you follow instructions and log in with the password provided – This initial login will then also require the password and user name to be changed from the ones send by email.

They also require a 2nd password - This 2nd password is only used for when transactions occur (You can get access to your account by using the login and password you get by email and subsequently change, but if you want to do anything more than check information such as change contact details or add payees etc you will be required to use this second password than).

You can create a simple (never changes) second password or this can be alternatively done via uniquely generated password via SMS and this is where Kasikorn will not use the never changing password, but rather will send on every transaction a OTC to your mobile for each transaction - Either way this is required prior to more sensative access to your online account such as making payments after you have done the initial login and have gained simpler access to your online activity.

Now go to the Kasikorn web site and from the drop down select "K-Cyber Banking. A new window will open. Choose ENG for your language.

In order to make online purchases or transactions – You now have to create a K-web shopping virtual credit card. This is an example where you are requiring the 2nd password. Once the application is completed within 24 hours of making the application you will have a virtual credit card.

What this means is you will be emailed a 16-digit number (same as a Visa card), expiration date, and a CCV (the 3 digits on the back of the card). But one important difference is that there is no actual card and all of this is virtual. But the bank uses this like a real card that you might normally use to make payments to / from any bank account.

Once this has been done now go to your Thai PayPal account and log in and then add the virtual account now linked to your Kasikorn account. Once this card is accepted then PayPal will then require a verification process (available to begin in this same session) that will allow Paypal check that this is actually your account at Kasikorn.

They will deduct an amount from the account and the transaction will be listed as something like PAYPAL1234 (the structure might be slightly different now) on your Kasikorn bank statement. These four digits will then have to be posted into your PayPal account to verify - So you do need to go back to Paypal and enter this verification after you see the transaction on your Kasikorn account.

The way that this actually occurs is that once you receive the email confirmation that PayPal has actually deducted money (from your Kasikorn account) this is when you will be able to collect and provide the 4 digits that you need - to confirm your Paypal account – Hence as I said previously just go into Paypal account and enter the 4 digits - In a new field that has been created on your paypal account that is awaiting this four digit code.

(Once you have been verified then PayPal will reimburse the amount taken in the verification process.)

You can now shop online and transfer money, etc.

Note: Bank account must be entered without the dashes.

Thanks for thorough explanation. I have my K bank acces and i did what you mention and what other. But simply after 10 days i havent seen either in account summary or transaction history any transactions from Paypal.

I somehow do not understand how will the virtual debit card be of use. When i send the money to the paypal account then i have the option to transfer the money from paypal to account. Im not sure if that will be possible when registered with virtual card.

I will try it again without dashes. I do not remember now whweether i registered it with or without.

  6. Hello there,

I have opened payapal thailand account and tried to link that account with my kasikorn bank account.

Paypal recomended to wait 6 business days. I have checked my account trough internet banking but could not find any deposits.

I have asked kasikorn in which formt i should register bank account with dashes or not. (for example 33-3333-3 or just 333333).

After few emails they say i should check with paypal.

The paypal just say the bank must have electronic bank trnsfer.

Does any of you have some experience with this?

What would be the proper format.

    Thanks

  7. was crossing trough Poipet about Month ago. There was like 100 baht processing fee. I did my homework before so knew that is a scam. I had exact 30$ in my wallet and just 40 baht. I was asked for the hundred i said i do not have. Then i was asked for 3$ and i replied i do not have. That clearly confused the guy. I was with a Bkk-siem reap bus which was waiting otherwise i wouldnt give them a single baht. I told the guy i have 40 baht. He swiftly grabbed them and i waited like couple min on visa and thats it.

Otw back from PhnomPhen just s mal scam for Vip treatment where most Cambodian paid which consist that bus boy took the passport to Cambodian custom to stamp them and that was it.

Even i did nota pay he walk with me to the custom to show me where do i have to get the exit stamp. Like free Vip :-).

Otherwise no problems i just pass the sars or whatever vaccination stand was it n nobody stop me .

I u derstand most of people whompay because the pressure can be intimidating.

Unless there is international pressure i doubt something will chamge.

Btw ive never seen so many luxury car at one place then in PP.

One might ask where the money come from.

  8. The bike rental business is a minefield.

Let us look at your suggestion of the hotels renting bikes. The main issue is legal riders. To get proper insurance I believe that the renter must have a valid licence. Then they need a copy of credit card, licence and passport. (This is normal practice for renting in Europe/USA etc.) The next problem - how does the clerk in the resort know that the licence is legit? Guests from Russia, Greece. Israel, Japan, Korea, China etc - none with 'English' worded licences. All of this for a one day rent of 200 baht?

Now look at the problem from the owner's point of view. Young Turk turns up and is staying in a 500 baht a night lodge. Wants to rent a bike. Never ridden one before and rights it off it on his first ride. Does a runner from his accomdation and gets on the next ferry. Bike owner out of pocket by quite a few grand. Shouldn't the owner have some kind of security?

Personally I hand over my driving licence and 5,000 baht deposit - along with details of my hotel. I always get a bike eventually.

That all makes sense except for the last part. I would never hand over my license as it's needed if you get stopped by plod. A copy, okay. It's also illegal for a Brit to hand over their passport. It doesn't belong to the holder, it belongs to the British Government so it's actually against the law to hand over your passport. Most places accept a photocopy though. Insurance for a bike, never heard of that in Thailand!.

I pay in Chiang Mai extra 500 baht a month for mbike insurance. Had accident once (not my fault) and within 30 min they brought me another bike. No problem amd did not have to pay extra.

  9. It won't take long. They will want you to pay your rent and deposit immediately and from that moment on it's yours. You will probably have the keys immediately. Some but not all of them will allow you to set a date in the future when the contract begins.

Of course the issue is finding a suitable condo or house in the first place, that search could take weeks depending on how flexible you are.

Always ask the following questions before renting anything :

Is there an active working phone line / cable tv installed - if not you might have problems getting one. This could mean no internet. I had this problem once.

How much is the electricity per unit, some (most) buildings add their own little fee which can double the rate, others allow you to pay it direct to the electric company with no additional charge - it can make a big difference.

Can't you get internet with your cell phone?

Out of my own experience - no you can't rely on your cell phone internet - and the data-packages for cellular cost quite a bit much more per month than a condo access point will. E:typos

My experience 199 baht unlimitied internet first 500mb 3g rest Edge. Never had problem with chatting and checking emails and bank and you can tether it with computer. Not fast but safe for sensible information then condo wifi.

  10. I still can't figure out, who after reading the Mormon "bible", would join these morons? Not one coherent page in the whole book. Try it and see.

I have tried and i felt like i am reading Harry Potter. A nice phantasy book. Unfortunately there are folks who believe to that ...........story without any historical proof. There many people who join the for some kind of benefits. You would be surprised how many Polynesians are in Utah or other immigrants who they help them to immigrate to the US.

  11. A major problem of low cost busses lifting should be treated urgently. I meet dozens of backpackers in Bangkok that have been victims of mafia gangs operating in busses from the islands to Bangkok. Some gangs send their people inside the baggage compartments of the bus. They open the luggage and steal passports, cash and credit cards. This is wide spread problem and nobody seems to take action against it.

Some of the tourists complained that they have been intoxicated by sleeping gas and their hand bags robbed while on their body.

The damage to the Thai reputation and tourism industry is enormous. It's about time to give it a serious treatment.

Please post evidence of you claims.

I am the evidence! It happen to us on the way from Krabi to Surathani. I was wondering why the bus going so slow and taking unusual way. (We did that trip otw to Krabi so i remebered the way). Later when we arrived to Bangkok, we discovered that watches dissapeared from our backpacks. The only logical explanation is that there was someone in the baggage compartment and went trough the stuff. I drowned a digital camera on Koh phi phi and was not functional. They did not take it. Means they had plenty of time. Lesson learned.

  12. The thing I don't understand about the chinese tourists stoping in the middle of the road to check their iPads, doing crazy u-turns, driving around corners on the wrong side of the road etc etc is that they wouldn't do it in a chinese city back home as it would too dangerous! When they come to Thailand on holiday they seem to lose all sense? It might be because they have left the communist controlled home country and feel truly free? Another thing some of them do is just step out into the road when they want to cross. Never mind looking left and right, just step out and start walking. The same thing no way would they do that in China. Something weird happens in their brains when they leave China behind. Very odd.

You have to understnad the Chinese mentality. They do not care about surrounding they totally selfish. It is absolutely normal parking on Bike lane in Bejing or even driving against the traffic. They do not mind any rules.

I once witnessed a group of chinese tourist when the tourist guide handed the scooter to them. You could clearly see they NEVER sat on bike, So how could you expect they know or follow the traffic regulations? One chinese crashed immediately when sat on the scooter and moved other ten seconds later. I must admit i laughed my ass off.
