  1. Well, there certainly isn't anyone there enforcing any leash laws, lol.

I guess it really depends on you and your dog. I personally keep mine on a leash when running around on the footpath but I have seen plenty of others who don't. I just now see that you have a Dobi, so maybe your best bet is to go there early morning when it is quiet if you want to take the dog off the leash.

I have also heard some people go to the football field at CMU but I haven't tried it. I have been to the field at CMLand, it is O.K. but so dirty and it was only a matter of time before all the strays came around. So, not that enjoyable in my opinion.

  2. I have to go to Bangkok next week and I have to bring my dog. No other option. I have been doing research on trying to find a dog friendly guesthouse or hotel with 0 results. I checked the pinned topic above and don't see anything for Bangkok. As some of you may know from my previous posts, I travel with my dog quite frequently and TV members have always been very helpful to me in finding accomodations.

Please, please, if anyone can point me in the right direction, I will be most appreciative. Otherwise, I just don't know what I will do.

BTW, she is a 20 kilo Shar-Pei, very well behaved.

  3. Let me start by saying that I love this forum and truly enjoy the banter that goes on here.

But I must say, this "obession" with The Dukes is absolutely unbelievable to me.

    What the hel_l?

  4. I live in Chiang Mai and haven't been to Phuket in some time. Anyway, I have some people coming from the US to visit and will be going to Phuket.

I would like to make their trip as lovely as possible so any help is appreiciated. What are the things you think they should/must do there? Say Top Three?

    Thanks. :o

  5. I don't know about Viengping Orphanage but I do volunteer at Baan King Kaew Orphanage on Wulai Road. The children there are newborns to 6 years old.

It is a very rewardng experience to say the least.

I have never known anyone to be allowed to take the children off the premises though. That somehow doesn't sound right to me. Sitting there "just playing" with the kids makes their day.

  6. Nice Nails has a very good reputation. Two locations, one on Huay Kaew Rd 053-225688 and the other is on Chang Klan Road 053-820099.

Another small local shop that I have gone to is Beauty Salon and Nails Kochasarn Road, Soi 5

    053-206492.

  7. I am traveling from Chiang Mai to Bangkok via train with my dog and will arrive at the train station early in the morning, about 7am.

Do you think I will have a problem getting a taxi to Pattaya from there? How much should I expect to pay?

I am concerned that I will get stuck at the train station with my dog in tow.

  8. maprao, Your response actually made me laugh. Good one!!

Seriously though, I would appreciate any recommendations. I have found some resorts around the area but the average nightly rate is around 4000 baht. Come on, there has to be some places...Please!

  9. I am traveling down to Pattaya in early November. Although I have been many times, this will be the first time going with my dog. Can anyone recommend a dog friendly place to stay? I will be only be staying for a night or two.

I already searched the Pets subforum and couldn't find anything for Pattaya.

  10. Girlx,

Have you found a home for your dog?

You posted over a week ago and stated that if you did not find someone to take the dog you were going to have to take the drastic measure of having he/she put down.

Needless to say, I think myself and others, judging from the other posts, would appreciate it if you gave us an update.

  11. MissAnge, if you could find out that would be great. I usually have not been fussy with mine either. But I just feel like it is time for a change. I have never colored my hair before and I am really looking for a completely different look.

I will look into Toni and Guy. Are there any other places that are renowned for their reputation for hair?

  12. I want to change my hair. It's been the same forever. My hair used to be very blond, however after living in Thailand for awhile now, it has turned to an almost light brown.

So, I would like to know the best salons in Thailand to get my hair cut and colored. I am willing to pay for it, so price is not important to me. I am looking for a place with a great reputation especially in coloring hair blond.

The place I usually go to here in CM does not even have blond hair color. I looked on the internet, but couldn't find anything.

I am in Chiang Mai but travel to Bkk when necessary. So, I am open to any suggestions.

  13. To make a long story short...

I had a Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit. Scheduled to expire next month.

Stopped working at the school. They cancelled my work permit effective August 31, 2006. They notified me of this on September 8th, 2006. So, I was 8 days over. Went to Immigration yesterday and had to pay 8 day overstay fine plus additional fee for a 7 day extension. They have given me until Spetember 14, 2006 to leave Thailand.

I do however have other employment and they are willing to apply for a work permit for me, but I will need a new Non-B visa to do that. And they will not have the paperwork together in time before the 14th.

It has been suggested that I do a border run to Mae Sai and get the extra 30 days. After which time, I will have the necessary paperwork and then I can then go to either Laos, KL, or Singapore to apply for the Non-B all over again.

But I thought that one needed to be on a tourist visa in order to apply for a Non-B and doing the border run won't help me there.

Does this sound right, any other suggestions?

I am at a complete and total loss here!!!!

  14. As a teacher, I have come across some very interesting ones, especially the boys names...Keyboard, Fourwheel, Unique and Uh-Oh. Poo is very popular although some spell it Pooh, I'm told because of Winnie the Pooh.

  15. As mentioned in my previous posts, I will have to return to the US. Can anyone recommend where I can buy a good carrier in Chiang Mai for a 19 kilo dog?

Also, again, I welcome ANY suggestions on how to make this trip as painless as possible with my dog.

  16. Go ahead and laugh, but I have 2 fairly large sized frogs that have been mating in my kitchen all day!!!!

Of course, I have left them alone today and tonight (even my dog who alerted me that something was going on is now ignoring them)but soon I will have to close the house up for the night before I go to bed. Now I worry how they will get out.

Where do you suppose she is going to leave her eggs? I don't live near the water.

It's funny but does anyone know anything about frogs? I looked around on the internet but haven't found much. I am curious.
