My guess is that as the country sinks further into economic chaos, more young men will see the monk hood as a form of social security rather than for any religious reason.
Hm,...When I cam to Thailand, more than 30 Y. ago, it was a well known fact that Buddhist temples were a refuge for criminals as well as for real Buddhists. Criminals on the run took refuge in temples far away from the places were they operated and became monks !. At that time they could change there identity while been monk. this has changed years ago, as the practice was widespread. Now Monks have a special ID card. But once and a while you still can see monks with Tattoos to be meant to protect them against knife or gun attacks !!!, mixed with Buddhist tattoos !!
PS: The photograph is not mine ! It's just a example I Down Loaded long time ago

A brave French man
Well I suppose there had to be one somewhere
(the exception that proves the rule and all that)
The meaning of XENOPHOBE is one unduly fearful of what is foreign and especially of people of foreign origin. !!!

Oh, that’s all right then? Just have a chat and a coffee with a persistent sex pest. That’ll sort it out.
The article is not clear on what exactly he did but “sexual advances” covers a multitude of sins, you’ve chosen to write it off as a minor matter, but advances suggest more than a chat on What’s App. He didn’t get lamped for nothing.
Hm,...I rest my case !!!

An 87-year-old British woman is grappling with her move to Thailand as she struggles to survive on a UK state pension frozen at just £300 per month, equivalent to approximately 14,000 baht.
In reality it is likely £300 every 28 days.
Up here in Isaan, most labourers earn less than 14,000bt/month, but manage to support a wife and family on that!
Healthcare problems affect us all.............that is why it is essential that every foreigner contemplating a full time move to Thailand has adequate health insurance
..."Up here in Isaan, most labourers earn less than 14,000bt/month, but manage to support a wife and family on that!",...??? And how many are in debt with lone sharks to support there family! ??

The only good Russian …. etc.
I don’t blame the Brit for reacting that way towards someone who was sexually assaulting his wife.
This is the main problem now in this world !!! people reading what they want and not what is written !!!
There is no mention of sexual assault !!! only sexual advances !!! and you make it as a sexual assault already !!!

Why don’t people read referenced articles before jumping into print?
They will see he is married, has an 18 year old daughter here, so has grounds for a visa.
Being a mercenary is not the same as Special Forces, so he could have done that from a young age.
I’m more concerned that no action was taken in respect of his admitted drink driving, which he used as his excuse for the assault. His cooperation with Immigration must have been very strong.
Hm,....Something like a year ago someone pointed me a Farang that works as informant with the Immigration in Chiang Mai, Checking on overstaying or working without work permit Farangs !!
it would explain some successes from the police and immigration in catching some Farang offenders.

I took her on multiple trips around SE Asia, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam,..She knew very little about those country's. Except the negative things the Thai government wants them to know. We also traveled all around around Europe, half of the country's she never heard about !

People in this government are only making deals for themselves !, whatever they do, will always be in there own interest ! And Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin al the lover of Thaksin's sister Yingluk, will look for the Thaksin family's interests as well !!!.
