  1. Every country, regardless of the profession has good and bad/ moral and immoral members. My advise, if you reside long time in Thailand is to seek out a competent professional in Thailand. Medical/Dental tourism is OK when things go right but will cost more to remedy, (physically, mentally and financially) when they do not. If you work, receive income in a particular country support them; you can also go back/report if necessary when things appear to not work out.

  2. My experience with NAB. My one time pin comes through my Telstra number, since they have that recorded as my Primary number. My Thai number is a secondary one. In theory if I ring and change the Primary to Secondary and reverse the order the night prior to leaving Au. I should be able to receive the PIN number. In practice it doesn’t work, or at least it did not work. Now I use 2 phones, one with my Au sim and the other with Thai sim with my Au number being the NAB primary number. It works for me that way. Good luck, frustrating I know; everyone in Thailand probably hears my melt-downs,55

If you are a returning Australian citizen there are no test or quarantine requirements. But you must fill out and submit the online Australia Travel Declaration 72 hours before travel. Essentially they want a contact for your stay in Australia.

They will accept the yellow double vaccine page given out at your second shot or from the mobile application. Obviously the yellow World Health Organisation booklet is acceptable as well.

Yes and No for returning citizens depending on which state that you are returning to. Today I received an email from the Premier’s office in SA stating that for international arrivals, they must be fully vaccinated and must do 7 days quarantine. This can be done at a suitable premises if no other people are there; ie; your own home. The government will decide if your nominated place is suitable or not and if not you will have to pay for 7 day quarantine at a nominated facility. Additionally, the writer said to check the website.

  4. This post is relative to Lamphun.

I returned from overseas with almost 1 year expired 5 year licence.. I did the E learning test and got message to download app and join the queue.. As others have said , app does not accept foreign passport number. Today, I went to Lamphun DLT office and spoke with information lady in the driving licence section. I was informed that at the moment due to Covid, they have been instructed to clear the Thai backlog first; perhaps by December '21 they can then process foreigners. I was also told to keep using the expired licences as these will be accepted by the Police as they have been told, and are aware of the situation.

I can't wait to get pulled over to test it out but I suspect that it will never happen, as I have always been previously waved through. (I have International Driving Permit as back up for a few months yet)

  5. I went to the Adelaide Consulate today (17 May). The place is closed up and no information on any relocation. Ten days ago on the phone, no mention of closing, only yesterday I could not contact. Had a 2 hr trip to get there, seems that there are hurdles to even get to return to Thailand from Oz. It seems that this decision has been considered for a while, fair enough I suppose, if staff are committed to be there but twiddling their thumbs. Let’s hope Phuket sandbox gets up.

Thank you. I think I have come to terms that either I accept that all I'd do is pay a rent 30 years up-front and make the best out of it OR drop it altogether :(((

There is no way you should ever do that. it does not work, even in in Australia. In the weekend news in Au. there was a report of an ex AFL footballer (Busustow) who paid 40 years rent up front (about $200K), the company he was dealing with went belly up. Reportedly, he may now need to sell his memorabelia to get by. Look for a better option. Why not just rent and move as it falls into disrepair.

Now that sounds appealing and I could do the same in NZ............

I have already learned to downsize from a large three bedroomed detached house in NZ to my current 45 square meter apartment, ditching much clutter along the way, and I know now what is important to have and what isn't, and I'm sure I could get my most important things into some sort of large mobile home.

    Food for thought, thanks.

It would need to be a very large mobile home to cart all of your wine around, especially at NZ prices!
