  1. Just to confirm Ubonjoe was correct I needed to have my wife there. I only needed a extension for 14days but they give you the default 60day extension. One last note is the form you fill out if you download it you will see you need a passport photo as well. I got the form there so I was unaware I needed one but lucky I had some in my paperwork pouch :-) So anyone else going for a extension make sure you take a photo with you.

Thanks for the help ubonjoe and poorSucker much appreciated

  2. Ohh serious do I need to take her with me. I was not planning to as she was staying home with the 3year old. I am guessing as you said that it must be stated somewhere so thanks for the heads up.

When I applied for the original 90day visa she of course never came with me and I had her write a letter stating we are still married and so on. Any chance you know if that would do this time or take her to be sure maybe.

    Thanks

  3. Hi guys,

I have been living in Bangkok for about 1 year and a half on a student visa. After that I changed it to a non immigrant O visa (90day) as I have a Thai wife and son. I have all marriage and birth certificates for Australia and Thailand and all good with that.

As it is I am not going to do the 400 000baht thing in my bank and do a one year visa as we have decided to go back to Australia for a 6 months break.

My flights are booked to leave mid March but my 90 day visa runs out on the 1st of March leaving me short.

So I have used the search function here and done some reading to see what I need to do as I just want a 2 week extension. From what I read they offer a 60day extension which is fine.

So below is what I read here on other posts and it sounds like what I need. Is this what I need to do for a 60day extension?

2.24 In the case of visiting a spouse or children who are of Thai nationality:
Each permission shall be granted for no more than 60 days.

    1. Application form.
    2. Copy of applicant’s passport.
    3. Copy of household registration certificate.
    4. Copy of national ID card of the person having Thai nationality.
    5. Copy of a marriage certificate or copy of a birth certificate.

So I just need those 5 things and go to immigration tomorrow and I can get an extension plus the 1900Baht ;-)

    Thanks

  4. Thanks for the info guys,

So should I apply for the extension just before my visa expires I guess.

Last point is if I get the 60 day extension and I put cash in my thai bank now so its there for 2 months I should be able to apply for my marriage visa here in Thailand yes?

Hey Paz why would I need another o-visa? If I get a extension does that mean I can't go for the marriage visa while on my extension?

    Thanks

  5. Hey guys,

I had a read about here on this but can't find the exact info I need.

I am a Australian and have a Thai wife and a son together that has a thai and Australian passport. Our marriage is recognised in Thai and Australia.

So first 14 months I lived in BKK on a student visa. I got some help here and I did a run out of Thailand and got a 90 day O-visa with no problems based on having a wife and son here.

Next move was I was going to put 400 000 baht in my Thai bank account as soon as I got into Thailand again with my 90 visa and after the 60 days apply for 1 year marriage visa.

My drama is I have all my cash here in Australian dollars at the moment I bought in person on my last trip to Australia. I like to do this and exchange when the dollar is up locally to get better rates than the banks give transferring.

So I got back to Thailand late September and the Australian dollars dropped. I have been waiting and hopping it would raise hahaha but it has not and I am a month and a half into my 90 days. So even if I change 400 000baht now it wont be in the bank account for 60 days like needed.

So what options do I have?

I expire on Mid December on the visa.

So could I go back out of Thailand then and apply for another 90day o visa and if so would they be ok doing it again?

Is there a extension I can get to give me 30 days more on top of my current visa so I have time to put cash in the bank and let it sit there?

Thanks for your time reading all this much appreciated

    :-)

  6. I just went for a single entry and to tell the truth I filled in the visa form and a few questions I was not sure what they meant. So I left them blank and was going to ask staff at the counter. She took my gear went through it all and said its all fine and told me to come back Wednesday to pick it up. I saw a pile of O visa applications on the counter behind the glass and most I saw were lucky to be half filled in. So it sort of supprised me how easy it all went through.

It cost $90 US for the application from memory.

  7. Thanks for the help I received here and advice guys.

I shot over to PP in Cambo' and put my Visa form in & copy of mine and my wife's passport & her ID card & her house book & our marriage certificate. I dropped it off Monday and picked it up worry free on Wednesday afternoon.

So it went a lot smoother than I was expecting as with all the talk around I was thinking I would get issues for sure. I had just finished my 14 month student visa I was staying in BKK with and learning Thai.

So once again thanks for input guys and to any new guys going for theirs it was very straight forward.

    Thanks

  8. Thanks for that, I also have a apartment in bkk and I am down here at the moment and a mate wants to shoot to Cambo so I thought I would go there for the trip as well as the visa cause I have not been back there for a year. So two birds with one stone.

But thanks heaps that is a very goog note to know for future reference if I hear someone needing the same thing as me but wanting it faster.

    Thanks again for your help

  9. I was just thinking when I show all my ID I was going to include my yellow house book and also my Thai drivers license but I am not real sure if I should have been allowed that stuff on a student visa?

Up where I am from things are still very casual in my local town on such things but they don't do visa's.

Just don't want to give myself any issues using them as extra ID items

  10. Well I have not talked to one in the last week but about 4 to 5 weeks ago I think it was. I have been in Thailand for 14 months on a student visa. I paid 30 000baht and that came with a student visa and 200 hours of study at my choice at the school.

I could use the hours when ever I wanted as in a hour a day or a few a week or what ever. They gave my 18 month to use the hours up but the visa was only good for 14 months.

I need a new one in a couple week and they said I had to pay about the same with a tiny discount and they would give me another 200 hours plus sort another visa out. I chose to not do it so I can not tell you the latest as in the last week as I am going another path for a visa.

Hope some of that might help you

School was called "language express" in bkk

  11. Hey Ubonjoe,

Thanks for the form I will use it so if its current its all filled out anyway.

Yes I plan on stating I want the 90 days as I have a Thai wife of 7 years plus a 2 year old Thai/Australian son. We also have a house up around Korat and I have a yellow book with my name as well. SO I was going to use the reasons for visa will be seeing my family.

The main reason is I need the 90 days before I apply for the marriage visa is I need to put 400 000baht in my thai bank account and have it in there for 2 months. I have had well over that over the last year but I bought a car here and a few other things for the house. I currently have money all here but its in Australian dollars and am now about to exchange some to top up my thai bank account.

So the plan is to get this 90 day O-visa under family reasons and return to Thai and after my money has been in my bank for 60days I will apply for a marriage visa.

So I am not to fussed on wanting a multi entry visa and I was allowing 5 work days for the visa in PP -Cambodia as I do not mind having a week there for it all to process. So 4 or 5 days process time will be ok for me to deal with.

Thought it was time to change from my student one and move over to a marriage visa. Thanks for the form and if you have any other information I am more than happy to hear it.

    Thanks,

    Aaron

  12. Hey guys,

I been on with visa mob here in Bkk as I have been here for 14months on a student visa. I have a Thai wife of 7 years and a son with Thai and Australian passports. I am looking at going marriage visa soon. I am about run out of my student visa so I was told to leave Thai and go get "Non Immigrant O visa 90days. I am 41 years old.

SO I have all my papers and everything I think should run ok but I can not find anyone online stating what form I need to fill in for it while in Cambodia. I like to have all my forms in advance to fill them out so I know all what is happening. At a guess all I can see is a application form TM87 ?

Its a application for a general visa. On there it asks what visa you are applying for so I think that might be right as looking through the Thai immigration site on forms that was the best suited.

So can anyone tell me 100 % what form I need for the 90 day O-visa please.

    Thanks in advance :-)

  13. Hey BKK dreaming,

Could you give me a few more land marks to the sewing shop on soi 71 On Nutt mate?

I was out that way a few years ago staying and always saw the shop, well might of been the same shop and I went out there about 5 weeks back but got a little lost lol anyway I drove and walked about and could not find the joint. I thought it must of closed down so if you have a google map mark or a few near by land marks that would help me heaps. I am just chasing a straight stitch or zig zag second hand machine.

    Thanks

    aaron
