  1. I hate to be negative but, bwpage3 is right. Aerial or Fly yoga is nothing new in Bangkok or Thailand. I practice yoga most days here in Bangkok and know many people in the business, if you could roll back the clock ten years you might have a chance. Today the yoga business in Bangkok is brutal and your competition is rich kids with nothing better to do with there parents money than indulge in there fantasies. If your are planing on setting up shop outside of Bangkok you may have better luck just not somewhere like Koh Phangan, Koh Tao or Koh Samui which is also saturated with yoga. As for getting a job, minimum wage for people from most western countries is 50,000-60,000 a month. You will not likely find a studio, retreat, or teacher training center that will pay you that much. Which means working illegally(no work permit) last time I looked the fine was 1,000,000 Baht or 5 years in prison or both, not easy to sleep at night with that hanging over your head.

  2. It's time to renew my work permit and the lawyer/accounting service we use is telling us " the officer in charge is very strict. You need to show 1 million baht a month revenue or they will only give you a 6 or even a 3 month work permit. My partner and I run a small business in Bangkok. We have 2 work permits and 8 Thai employee's. The lawyer says there is no legal requirement to have a certain amount of income but the officer who has signing authority requires us to show 1 million baht income per month. Has anyone heard of this? We use the same legal firm as many Thaivisa members. Is it possible that the officer in charge does not like my legal firm and they are being singled out? The law firms all seem to charge a ridiculous amount for renewing a work permit. To pay there fees every 3 or even 6 months would be a significant hardship. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  3. Thanks for the info. I might check out the Ambassador Hotel, price is right.

I went to the Windsor once years ago. Old, outdated equipment and kind of expensive. I think it was a Clark Hatch many many years ago. Maybe they have updated the gym since 2008.

  4. I'm NOT looking for True or Fitness First but more of a hotel or condo that sells memberships or even day use to outside guests. I used to use the Imperial Queens Park hotel. Expensive by the day, cheaper by the month and great deals for 1 year membership. I know about Balance Health Club at the Waterford Diamond but something closer to Asok would be better. Any suggestions?

  5. Tomorrow will be the best falafel in Bangkok....stay tuned JT.

There is no good falafel in Bangkok. Prove me wrong.

Patra's in Sukhmuvit Soi 3/1. Served up with freshly fired naan and the usual delights. D-freakin-lish.

Falafel is wrapped in pita bread not naan. Nice try.

  6. If you are a beginner and you have past injuries or maybe your getting a little older, you might want to try Iyengar Yoga. They are all about safety and alignment. Lots of props are used, some say to many. Fifty Fifth plaza is where the Iyengar Studio is located. Dharma Yoga at Area 10 on Thonglor Soi 10 is a nice little studio too.

  7. You may find you have a couple of problems.

    1. Pridi Banomyong is not a hot bed of Yoga like Thonglor, Asok or Silom/Sathorn. Your choices are limited.

    2. In Bangkok drop in classes at most studio's start around 500 baht and go up. Privates classes start at a 1000, I know one woman that charges 2500 Baht.

    3. Noon until 5 can be a dead zone for a lot of studio's. Early morning, mid morning and then after 5 seem to be the most common class times.

I just came home from my daily yoga class. I practice mostly at Yogatique Bangkok on Sukhumvit Soi 23. They have a class everyday at 2:00 pm. One of the owners told me this morning that the 10 class pass is on sale for 2000 Baht. It is valid for 60 days. This fits your budget but may be farther than you want to travel.

    Hope this helps

  8. I may be able to help, but when you say Phra Khanong, do you mean district or BTS station. Phra Khanong BTS station is in a sub district of Wattana. You mention On Nut and Ram which makes me think you are some where up Pridi Banomyong Rd. What's your mode of transportation? What time of day do you want to practice? How much do you want to pay? What type of Yoga do you want to practice? Can you speak or understand Thai? Yoga in Bangkok can be expensive but there are some good studio's with reasonable prices too.

  9. I'm vegetarian, most of my friends are not, especially the Thai's. I not hardcore vegan, just don't eat beef, pork, chicken, seafood, etc. I can live with a little fish sauce. So I am looking for restaurants that have vegetarian options ON THE MENU. I don't want to ask for something special or have the hassle of trying to explain myself.

Thanks for any suggestions, and yes I know about May Veggie Home. Great for me and good for the carnivores but I can't take them there every time.
