  1. Hello!

I was told at the immigration office here in Aranyaprathet in Sa Kaeo that confirmation letter of pension must be legalized with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they said there were new rules from September 27th, but I can't find anything online about this.

And does anyone know if I can renew my visa in Pattaya or if I am locked to the immigration office here in Sa Kaeo province where I live?

  2. I gave up on that office after tree trips with answers like "a farang can not get a drivers license in Thailand". I ended up with getting it in Pattaya. Then i went to Sa kaeo to renew and they insisted it had to be fake, and back to Pattaya to renew. Last renewal i went strait to Pattaya.

ok thanks for that local info. was wondering if you actually needed to have an address in the same province as where you get the licence so obviously not. thanks again.

yes there is a significant amount of obfuscation from significant segments of the population in this region.

but could be a language issue in this case.

i don't think it is a language thing, i speak Thai and that didn't make any difference.

  4. From a newspaper VG in Norway today

    Translated with Google Translate

Thailand Rebellion: - If they take me, they kill me!

VG met the "red" rebel general

BANGKOK (VG) He is called a traitor by the regime, arguing he will be executed, if they arrest him. For general seh Daeng has gone against his own, and supports the people.

The red colored people, the rebels. What are his motives, no one knows. But the general Khattiya Sawadipol, alias seh Daeng, is a national hero in modern Thailand. For he is the people's man, at least red shirts man.

Had it not been for his camouflage uniform with general distinctions, one had hardly noticed him. But here, behind the red barricades, all know him - and love him.

    Fear snipers

He is a hero - and write autographs for dear life when he turns out. But he does not often, he fears the regime.

I wander alone around the edge of the red area, and hear a voice from a tent:

    - Pssssst, strangers will you talk seh Daeng?

Sure I will, the controversial army general that of pure disobedience was stripped of his degree a few months ago, the man leading the rebellion: He is the man who planned the outer defense lines in detail, along the lines of the war between Burma and Siam (Thailand ) in 1785, and he is the man in command of the red black-clad security forces.

    - Look around, he told me.

    - Do you see the killing pointed bamboo poles in the barricades over there? They are constantly immersed in gasoline, and burn fat off the enemy if they try it. Bamboo is a deadly wall of fire. This is old wisdom that has been used successfully over the centuries here in the East.

The regime needs 40,000 soldiers and police to take us, and so many they fail to get. Many in the army and police are on our side, said the rebel, and add:

    Fighting for life

    - We have some "fireworks" and shoot down helicopters like if they try it. And I'm expecting 1000 new recruits to the security department. He claims they fight for life with slings, stones and the little they have of weapons. Seh Daeng claims they have rights and morality on their side.

    - We are Palestine of the East, squeezed together on a small area, and we fight for our rights. Against oppression, against corruption and injustice, for a decent life. But the yellow, the elite, the rich and the army will not give us that. So it is time to take it!

    - Why did you, as a general, turned his back on your own?

    - Because I want to be a general of the people! One that will be for the little man. I will not be a general of politicians and power people, I am a Democrat in my heart and want to be like the generals as you have in Europe's democracies.

    - The people need a clear leader, he said.

    VG - 03.05.2010
