  1. Heard a rumour today (from a good Arabic-speaking source) that any Saudi wishing to visit Thailand must submit an application in writing to the Saudi Gov't requesting permission. Then apply for the Thai visa.

It's been illegal for Saudis to travel to Thailand without permission for many years. Maybe only recently enforcing the rules, but even when Saudi Airlines flew to BKK (up until about 4 years ago), a Saudi couldn't go into a SA booking office and book a flight without his permission note.

  2. i am currently renting from q cars in the jomtien beach condominium complex

I have had bad experience with this company on short term rentals. They refused to return the deposit for just normal wear and tear.

Since my bad experience I have heard similar stories from others that say they would never rent from them again.

Can we have a few more details about that.

    What's normal wear and tear.?

rented from them once....never again...car was terrible, brakes metal to metal, didnt run properly...took me 3 attempts to find a car that was passable and safe...and if you are unlucky enough to have the old woman :o *take care* of you...she is rude and ignorant

Yes, I had the angry old English woman. ( I wonder if she has a work permit ).

The normal wear and tear was just a scuff mark that if I had time to get some polish would have come off in less than 5 minutes.

But of course she had no time for me to try this as the car was already booked to go out ( so she said, surely she would have access to some polish if they look after cars, but "no, I don't have any polish here" was what I was told )

I will never rent from QCars again and advise anybody else to avoid them also.

  4. An Australian Melaleuca might do the trick.

It grows every where in swamps here.

    ABC Gardening

The toughest one is Melaleuca quinquenervia, the cajeput tree. It grows equally happily in water, bog or dry soil. The spongy waterproof bark extends throughout the root system conducting oxygen to every extremity like a snorkel, which is what allows it to grow in water.

  5. You Stated the fact. " I am in the real estate business in Pattaya."

It therefore doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to deduct that you have a vested interest in blah blah blah.

You assume that anybody that doesn't agree with you must be both an idiot and a poor under funded pensioner. You are wrong on both accounts.

Pull your head back under your rock...

  6. and therefore have a vested interest in extracting money from unsuspecting investors.

guys like you come out with their negative BS comments.

Just live on your 30,000 Baht a month pension, in your 3,000 a month rented condo, blah blah blah

Before you make your next post, I want you to do one thing. Walk into the bathroom, look into the mirror and repeat over and over; “I am a LOSER!”

I had missed your reply.... Did I hit a little nerve in a little man.

    1) Not a "negative BS comment" . Just a simple factual statement that you DO have a vested interest.

    2) You don't know me so <deleted> do you know.

    3) I have invested in Pattaya real estate, but not because it is a good investment. I did it because my wife wanted me to buy it for her, 3 properties in fact.

I would not invest anything in Thailand that I am not prepared to walk away from.

I would advise anybody to invest in their own homeland, somewhere that will provide the same returns as Thailand without all the rip offs and risks that Thailand provides, both legal and illegal.

  7. I find it easy. I never start the car until all seat belts are fastened. Some times it takes a few minutes until someone wants to know "Why aren't we going yet".

They are getting better, hopefully one day they will even wear the belts when I'm not in the car.

  8. The girl maintains the website, chances are any reminder emails don't even go to her, you get quite a few.
This was my initial thoughts as well. Probably Mr Farang has been receiving the renewal notices for months and believes himself too important to have done anything about it.
  9. No. They were all "as built" with only a single entrance through the roller door at the front and no rear entrance at all (there's a rear door, but no access to rear door from the street).

The stairs are at the rear of the building (internal) so there is no real practical way having multi occupants.

There is one owner that has installed a corridor to one side of the shop to achieve multi occupancy, but it makes the ground floor shop very small. Each floor is originally 4m x 12m but with the corridor added and stairs isolated the ground floor becomes approx 3m x 8m.
