  1. Wow...I am impressed with the speed and quality of replies. Too bad the prices decided, which they inevitably would, to plummet back down even lower than they had been.

I truly appreciate the honest recital of the reasons. It is so counter-culture, in the best of ways.

Stander, special thanks for the job role that might be a fit in times that are more fit.

On the bright side...no matter what "They" do, the World will be refining oil longer after we alive today are off contributing to its renewability.

  2. Do you need a simple report automated based on verified data and accurate information?

Are your data warehouses and data marts difficult to access, extract necessary information in a timely fashion, and provide in a format that is clear, provides the information to answer time sensitive business questions or request further research and analysis?

Does the shear fact that data validation has become a complex, seldom undertaken project, that requires too much time, too many resources, and seldom provides the guarantee that data used to support critical business management tasks will be accurate and reliable?

For nearly 20 years in industry from banking to biotechnology, high-tech to manufacturing as an analyst, deparment manager, and principle business analyst I became an expert in data analysis and validation, ETL processes to program and load enterprise, business critical data warehouses and data marts for providing cleaer, insightful reporting and analysis to the commercial organization from sales and marketing, product management, customer service, corporate finance and accounting, and executive customers both as part of regular reporting and ad hoc and special project reporting.

I would like to begin again to use my expertise to help your organization obtain the most from its purchased and in house data storage. I am also a veteran of many successful strategy and implementation project and management teams and can provide insights and suggestions into improvements in your BI and information dissemination business processes.

I am happy to discuss your needs, large or small. My rates are flexible and I will work to ensure that you will receive value and value added results from all of my work.

Please review my resume and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

  3. I am probably going to regret jumpy so far out of my depth. However...here goes.

I have been working in Bangkok for several years and have started looking for more legitimate work, with more of a future. My family has friends that were in the business, no help to me now, and they always say I should try and get a job in office management, accounting (clerical) or other function that is on the administrative/management/communications side of the business.

While I have met several folks in the 'business' here in BKK they are either getting ready to retire or have a pretty good/safe job that I would not think of asking how to get into. My background is in commercial support, degree in finance, analysis, information management and transformation. With business analysis, operations, and implementation from sales automation to enterprise systems.

While it does not seem that my skillsets would be in that much demand in this industry, since I just saw this forum I thought I would ask. Besides as jobs go, working in the oil biz would actually be rather fun....I do actually like learning about business models, organization, and how strategy and tactics are both developed and managed....yes, I was good at getting the white collar work done. If I was 20 years younger I would try for rough neck.

Sorry if this post is vastly out of place.

  4. I wish them all the best.

However, as a point of National Policy and strategic planning, bribing foreign countries businesses to pay for infrastructure seems wildly unsound. Not to mention you only succeed in foster foriegn business inovation. In general I do not believe these types of ponzi schemes, especially sin taxes used to improve health, have shown particularly encouraging results.

However, go guys.. At least the statements were forward looking and clear....the 'off the book revenues' or political slush will finally be used for the benfit of the Thais. A good thing. All the foreign companies that come to locate here will benefit from lower R&D and reap the windfall to allow even further global expansion.

The need for a more truly educated work force may drive change in education....pie in the sky I know. And Thailand will have sold ever more of itself to foreign interets that will, unlike in the US, become entrenched and a self perpetuating polical force acting outside the policy, laughable as they may be, interests of Thailand.

    I still hope it works.

  5. Yes, I wish I could change my username.

I wonder if it is the drought stalling Bic Cs expansion, in fact, or maybe a reduction in what I am sure are purchase/lease and build terms that could be considered the gladdest of glad handing. I have wondered with the sheer number of Big Cs in Bangkok how many would still be going concerns were they forced to pay for operations from business revenue? Maybe so. Besides the government is perfectly correct in assuming I, the people, do not wish to travel more than the length of an MRT stop to shop at one.

As for the drought...yeah, water management actually is important and requires competence, unlike other areas in the public sector. Though I am sure its FTI or maybe ATI has had the largest increase to date. Of course roads and waterways, sewer or for drought management, don't seem to be much on anyone's radar either: then again, infrastructure is over rated. A car kickback though, critical to my sense of sabai sabai.

  6. 1st: sorry about the user name. I need to change it.

2nd: FTI-- does it really mean anything other than when there is no good news get Thai industries to say something nice and raise an analytically meaningless metric.

BTW: for those who do not know; car shipments (exports) to dealers are consignment, unless done differently in SE Asia, so a rise in that figure alone is more indicative of gamesmanship than any improvement in the economy. Especially given the fact that actual sales are down YTD by double digits. I doubt there will be a record increase in sales through year end to make up for the drop off. If the term 'exports' is being used to mean actual sales to customers, I retract the previous statements.

Oh...and too over explain more, I am not commenting on the Thai economy in general. I am only pointing out the problems with the 2 areas of improvement mentioned by the article. (Do the same folks who get spoken to about the FTI say the say thing to family and friends.)

  7. I have been living in BKK for over 3 years. I had a work permit for 1 year and like most folks in my position I get by on visa runs, and trying to get my employer to help me get a visa.

Yes, I know. That was foolish and naïve on my part.

My father has lived here for nearly 10 years and one of the reasons I came to Thailand was to spend more time with him. Is there a family angle if the family member is a permanent resident?

I have heard and or seen statements like family member visas, but nothing written in stone...palm leaves.
