  1. IN BANGKOK...I have been in five different branches of Bangkok Bank, two different KBanks. Same line from all - I need a work permit to open an account

Bangkok Bank on the 4th floor inside MBK Centre in Pathumwan opened a savings account for me on tourist visa when I first came here..... It's pretty much up to the manager and staff ( and the mood their in ) to help you with this. It helps being very polite and charming in a way to convince them to help you out. When I walked in they said NO, but after asking for the manager and chatting it away a bit and being very nice they helped me within the second.....

  2. Leave those Bar Gals alone!!!.....marry a prostitute you often get burned.

Get married irrespective of the nationality or profession of the lady and statistically speaking your going to get burned eventually

spot on ... the difference is, with Thailand, its the HP (Hire Purchase) pay a (sizeable) deposit; with 'westerners', its a Lease, with a balloon payment at the end ...

    Spot On Soutpiel !!

  3. You should think about installing a dashcam. I've heard many farangs walking away from an accident without having to pay for anything (unless they were at fault of course) because they had footage of the incident and the police could review it.

Jip, only way to go is to have one of these in your windscreen... No one can argue the actual evidence on cam.

  4. The problem in laos is that anything that you can get is a dark girl... It seems that the white skin girls do not mess with foreigners yet !

But yes, it's the only place around that is worth living if you want to retire from Thailand !

What's wrong with dark girls? And what's your idea of dark?

Lao girls rules !! And of course the fact that there is NO shit piles laying around....

Of course I would also agree with above mentioned beer Lao..

The girls are just a bit expensive at 3000 baht for short time......NOT that this is my experience but just observing the scene......

How much is that in local 'income'?

A million times the minimum wage?

    Great!

So you think they should only ask for, or be paid, minimum wage?

Well, I don't think they are worth 5 times the daily minimum wage for less than an hour of work.

You'll find prostitutes the world over will earn substantially more than minimum wage. It's hardly a pleasant job or one with long term earning potential.

Why all this world knowledge? Have you been a prossie in your previous life ?

  6. Was just wondering, I live Chaung Watthana road near Pak Kret and go worn to the river quite a lot for coffee and a stroll around the market. I notice guys playing around with jet skis around the island and river in Pak Kret and they seem not be worried about the water here.

My question to these who might know, is the water less toxic and cleaner here than in central Bkk ? I'm asking this here as I would also like to ride my ski but nobody here in Pak Kret I know ( all Thai's ) seem to have a answer based on facts and I don't want to rot in hospital due to infection.

  7. So what will the police, authorities, politicians jetski operators do to make up for the lost income now?

We'll have to wait and see with what they come up next to scam the tourists with.

Perhaps,...oops the condom must have broke and your going to be a daddy so pay up for child support in advance.

2000 baht per month or 30000 baht once off and we forget I was going to carry your child...???

  8. Thainess at its best. Some of them just think their shit don't stink and that their in a position to judge others. If the Chinese was shitting in the pot plants it was a different story.

Mr. Sulapon, first look around your own backyard and BS going on in your own country and nationality before pointing fingers to some innocent Chinese card players minding their own damn business.

  9. I guess there will be traffic until Sunday night.... We're driving on Saturday morning 4.00am from Bkk to spend Songkran with the Misses family in Prauchap Kari Khan one hour south of Hua Hin and hope to get a head start by leaving so early. Usually takes us about 3 hours to drive there if the Missus does not want to stop every 20 minutes...??

  10. I know this happens elsewhere in the world, but these 2 x paragraphs sum up Thailand's transportation exactly:

"Accidents involving boats, buses and other forms of public transport are common in Thailand, where safety standards are generally poor.

Overcrowded tourist ferries and other boats are notorious for capsizing, catching fire or hitting rocks, especially during peak tourist season when vessels are pushed to their limit."

A while ago I was walking past a truck making a delivery to Mikes in Pattaya. The front nearside tyre was bald and the tread delaminating. The policeman who was passing the truck at the same time did nothing.

In the UK the driver would have been fined and the truck taken off the road immediately. Road deaths UK 3000 Road deaths Thailand 30000.

Agreed, I'm not a UK citizen but do have a Vivaro Van I use for business when I'm over there. Their full of shit but obviously for a very good reason which is fully acceptable
