Senior Thai doctor says COVID-19 could lead to long-term side effects
Jimbo2014 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I appreciate your concerns. To rest a few of your fears. Omicron may have emerged in a patient with untreated HIV, an immune compromised person, but there is no evidence that it has undergone recombination with HIV. There seems to be evidence it has recombined with the common cold (Rhinovirus), possibly explaining its milder symptoms and lower mortality rate. There is always the risk of a virus such as the cold, flue or coronavirus recombining with something like Ebola. This is the basis for many excellent zombie films. However life goes on. We live day to day with these risks. Omicron provides long term TCells (Memory TCells) to retain information to fight any variant of the virus. Therefore its a relatively low impact mass vaccination programme. Lets hope we dont have found 4 - Ebolicron - or something worse. ???? -
Senior Thai doctor says COVID-19 could lead to long-term side effects

Maybe up to 25M based on the economists assessment of excess deaths. But Omicron seems mild, Ive had many friends who have had it. They rate it easier than the flue and quicker. Seems we may have a mass vaccination programme taking place free of cost and politics. -

statistically not. The average life expectancy for a Swedish woman is about 84.1 years. Her time had come and she just happened to get Omicron. -

The average life expectancy for a Swedish woman is 84.29 years old - So are we to conclude that Omicron helped her to get a few extra weeks of life - it seems about as sensible a conclusion as to surmise that Omicron was the cause of death. -
Virologist Warns That Children Can Trigger COVID-19 Clusters

So can politicians... Ive seen. -
The illusion Anutin and his pack are living under boggles the mind. Omicron wont be stopped. It will spread fast and wide quickly and then will disappear. It has made its way into far more secure places than Thailand with its porous borders of free flowing illegal workers and trade. Let it burn and be done with it.

Thai police in massive debt - they owe 270 billion baht
Jimbo2014 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
At a guess much of it ends up in seedy bars and gambling establishments. But you are right, corruption in Thailand tends to enormously enrich the top tier with little to trickle down to the hard working plebs. -
So its a "Crack Down" to bring the amount of easy "Crack down"? ????

Some have postulated reasons for this. The benign weather and environment making planning for cold winters and famines unnecessary. Others have speculated on the socioeconomic history of the country, namely corvee and slavery. Others have proposed that the large and strong system of Tam Boon, Boon Khun and burden of family and friends supports debt. The later will suffer under failing demographics as there are fewer young to support a growing ratio of dependents. The end result, it seems few Thais plan well for the future, those who do are predominantly Thai-Chinese ethnicity.

Critics say government is not doing enough on air pollution
Jimbo2014 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
They are doing quite a lot to encourage air pollution. Air pollution and the desired goal of high end tourists dont really go together. High enders like to breath fresh air.
