The Vietnamese are getting three times more yield per Rai. Farmers here need to increase the yield and become more efficient.
There are people offering to teach them, the rice farmer's association already has a project you can sign up to and they will help with giving your first seed for free.
But the Thai rice farmers seem to be shunning it, they want to just stick their hands out.... It's easier.
I bet they are even expecting to get a nice big subsidy policy from the likes of the PTP if they are still around come the runup to the next election.
They probably don't even realize those days are gone and it won't be allowed any more to garner votes.

Thing is they say 80 to 85% of the 'investigation' is complete.... They didn't say 80 to 85% of the case is cracked.
Sounds more like a pre-curser to a very soon to be issued admission of complete failure and closure of the investigation.
Which is what Thailand wants to see, well.... certainly the island police and certain 'influential' people anyway.
If they do actually get someone to go down for this..... it'll be a patsy.

There is too much rice in Thailand as it is.
This is a good move and should force many farmers to turn to other crops.
Some things are expensive, so why not farm those instead?
It will help bring prices down and they can still make more than they get from rice.
Garlic, Chilli, potatoes even.
How about fish ponds and fresh water prawns to subsidize their income?.... why are they just sticking their hands out??
The Shin governments have turned these farmers into an economic burden.
I wonder what they will think when their crops fail over the coming 2 years what with this very dry rainy season, very low reservoirs nationwide and El Nino next year meaning low rainfall... Rice is heavily reliant on water. They should be taking action NOW!

Is this the same gambling den that had some money and cars "disappear" after a raid that may or may not have happened? There were photos of the money in the press, but it was all denied by the police.
The old truism that "the only thing the Thai police are afraid of is the Thai army" may be holding true, with good reason.
Should do what they do in a lot of western countries.
Police caught breaking the law get much stiffer sentences than regular citizens.
But here??....... hahahahaha
Never in a million years. This is all part of Thainess.

85% complete which is 'unclassified' and 15% that is 'classified'.
So that means the investigation is now 100% complete at the above ratio.
So who was it?.... The Chuckle Brothers?????

The thing is, this so called islamic barbarity is not even new. Al Qaeda were doing this 10 years ago... Daniel pearl and Ken Bigley to name just 2.
The Taliban in Afghanistan regularly do what ISIS are doing to villages and towns. They slaughter and execute fellow Afghans.
The western forces eventually turned their backs on it.
They will do the same here before the job is done because they will realize the job can't be done.
ISIS will not lose its wider support, the support will just increase if they can show women and children blown to smitherines by US air strikes.
Once again, the US gets it all wrong and goes in with the totally wrong approach.
Better to make sure you get all your support from Islamic countries in the form of ground troops and surgically remove ISIS.
The west can provide backup air strikes on ISIS once they are flushed out into the open. Hitting them on the retreat.

Isn't the impeachment request premature?
This is what I understand:
1) Yingluck has not been found quilty in a court of law for negligent dereliction of duty in the rice pledge program. To date the prosecutor has declined to charge Yingluck and bring her to trial. But it seems the NACC has independent prosecurial powers to the extent that it can hire its own prosecutor to take the case to trial. Regardless, she has not been tried and\ found guilty. So is the grounds for impeachment is based on NACC allegations that she should be impeached?
2) With regards to the failed Pheu Thai Party MP's legislation to alter the way some senators are selected (proposed 100% elected vs. 50% appointed), the Supreme Court ruled that it was the PROCESS used to pass the legislation that was unconstitutional. The SC did not rule that it was the PROPOSAL itself that was unconstitutional as the 2007 Constitution provided for changes to the Constitution. Again, where is the criminality and conviction?
3) Finally, it is odd that NACC is asking that Yingluck to be impeached for attempting a change in the constitution that no longer exists. To those new TV readers, the 2007 Constitution doesn't exist because the military coup aborgated (threw out) the constitution in May 2014 and by its own perrogative created an Interim Constitution and a National Legislative Assembly in which the Senate no longer exists.
So what is the grounds for impeachment other than a political vendetta against the PTP and Yingluck?
Your post is flawed from end to end.
You start by saying 'Yingluck has not been found quilty in a court of law for negligent dereliction of duty in the rice pledge program'.
In fact she WAS convicted by the constitutional court... she was found guilty of the both charges pertaining to the rice pledging negligence claims and the attempted changing of the constitution for pretty much personal gain. The constitutional court being the highest court in the land.
The supreme court has made no such rulings, again it was the Cons Court and they ruled it unanimously as 'ILLEGAL' and in breech of the constitution.
Finally it is 100% wrong for you to assume that if the constitution is no longer valid then all past crimes that against it are all also invalid... That is not the case and should never be the case, it is merely your own opinion and a very biased one at that.
There WAS a constitution at the time the 'crimes' against it were committed. The conviction was handed down by the Cons court and everything in the hereafter is all part of the process of what happens next.
It is like saying that a man in prison for murder can not be convicted because the person he killed is no longer here.
Thank god common sense prevails and will see these political criminals face their punishment. W are all sick and tired of the rich and powerful being given a free hand to do what the hell they like. Anything else is just showing all those that follow in their footsteps can get away with it and Thailand will never move forwards until those damaging the country are brought to swift and exceedingly harsh justice.
That is my opinion.

@2befrank.
Good post. But why not take her (them) straight to the criminal court?
There is a process, and the NACC probably knows that all political cases must go via an impeachment hearing first. The criminal case will probably take years anyway, but with an impeachment verdict of 'guilty' already in place, then it will be a pretty much open and shut case.
The NACC want convictions here, and impeachment will deffo strengthen their case and probably speed it up.

If you want to have any chance of defeating ISIS you have to do it town by town and city by city.
You need ground troops and you need to push in from 3 sides forcing them to flee in the only available direction, then and only then can you pummel them with air strikes as they are fleeing in the open.
As each town is liberated, you leave a heavily armed security force.
But having said that, you can be pretty much guaranteed that as they flee, they will take women and children with them as shields. But it is still a better alternative than just flattening whole towns and cities and just getting a few of them, but a whole load of innocents.

Great news about time many people suffered under Yingluck's Government time to face reality , this is what they get for being puppets .
thank you General Prayuth.
Who exactly suffered during Yinglucks time in power? You? Your wife? Your children? Your dog?
Yes it was an expensive experience, but nobody was suffering? Apart from the country as a whole.
As for the impeachment, a complete waste of time and money. Since it can only remove her from power or ban her from politics for 5 years.
Removed she has been already, and I honestly think, she would only welcome a 5 year ban.
So a lot of hot air for nothing!!
You are missing the point. It is what follows impeachment that matters.
If successfully impeached, it opens the door for a criminal case and almost certainly will result in a guilty verdict. For example, if impeached then that shows her/them as 'guilty as charged'.
You can't really be guilty in one case and not guilty in the other when one is 100% pertinent to the other. Using all the same evidence, and logic prevails, then the two cases contradicting each other would be a mockery. While we are all well aware that a judicial mockery is more than a realistic possibility in Thailand. I doubt the General will be willing to embarrass the country any further seeing as it is currently a laughing stock in the eyes of the world or at least the rest of ASEAN.
As for suffering, yes... The whole country did suffer and so did a million rice farmers and their families of which some will never forget the name Shinawatra. The vast majority of the nation are wanting to see Yingluck and PTP ministers get their come-uppence. Remember they only got half the amount of votes back in Feb compared with 2011... That is how much support they lost during their term in office. Making the majority of Thailand's population against PTP now.
The General will see to it that the majority will get what they want. Returning happiness to the people.

Really?
Well it won't work, it has never worked anywhere else and it won't work here or in the future.
Relentless ariel bombing will just kill loads of innocent people, provide ISIS with all the propaganda pictures they want, US and coalition will lose support for the campaign and will only serve to drive many more muslims to fight against the infidel that is indiscriminately bombing poor innocent muslin women, children and elderly.
It will never work as long as Obama has a hole in his arse.
Criticism can be acceptable with a viable alternative?
Or are you one who would find reasons for doing nothing rather than finding reasons how to deal with the problem?
I already provided an alternative..... Ground invasion using a coalition of military of Islamic countries and freeze assets of Saudi and Qatar the two main funders of ISIS.
Not good enough for you????? So here is a second alternative.
Originally ISIS were fighting other arab states in the region. Not US or UK targets.... So they should have just said.. 'This is your problem, we are not going to get dragged into something that is not our business'. Then maybe US and UK citizens would not have been beheaded.
Leave the middle east to sort out its own problems, we have enough of our own.

Waking up to a beautiful, peaceful morning with a great view out my bedroom window and ready to enjoy another day in paradise, confident that I will be safe thought out the day and can enjoy a wonderful, safe and relaxing weekend with my family and friends. Have so many choices on food, entertainment and surrounded by happy, good hard working people. No complaints.
Why is this? Smart people in the US armed with full facts and knowledge (unlike those on here) make tough decisions everyday to provide the life I and Americans enjoy everyday. For that I am grateful and while I may not always agree on the means or the timing if the means, I agree on the ends.
Lol at those on here that follow every single thread arguably about US merely so you can bash the US. Incredibly sad to live with so much negativity or frustration.
All you are trying to do here is to spin this thread into a US bashing accusatory dungheap.
What you are saying is that if people dare to oppose the US and its allies attempting to bomb Muslims back to the stoneage, that we are anti American?
Grow the F up. The thread is asking for opinion and we are giving it.
The real facts are that you and a few other posters (thankfully the minority) are obviously US citizens who have swallowed up all the koolaid in gallons and are reacting the way your backward thinking administration intend. You couldn't get more sheep like if you tried.
Nice that you can look at your beautiful safe life because the US (and partners) kill and maim the children, wives husbands of others, but at least it is not your own..... eh?
99% of the people these thugs are hiding behind were just going about their daily lives until these murderers rolled in. They suffer mass daily executions, rape, plundering in the name of the Islamic State... they are unarmed and vulnerable as hell and as the other poster stated.. he would care less if the whole area was turned into a car park.... That is a pretty disturbing mindset and in my opinion even worse than the ISIS combatant can come up with.
If you think for one minute that if the US doesn't bomb and kill thousands of innocents that I am going to one day open my door to an arab with an AK47 then you are seriously deluded.... Obama would be very proud of you, you have swallowed his crap hook, line and sinker.
The US has failed EVERYWHERE it has gone and left the situation worse.
Afgaistan
Iraq
Libya
To name a more recent few.
The US has created a monster and they are running around chasing their tales trying to make it right again.... The US will be in a constant state of war for the next 100 years and still won't achieve a damn thing.
It is the US and UK administrations that have made it unsafe for non muslims.

Doesn't really matter if it will back fire or not.
They should soon be confined to the history books as deleted from the earth, extinct.
It's not hard to do, just have to pound them relentlessly 24/7 and without mercy.

Not really that easy... They just use the Hamas tactic of using innocent people as shields. These ISIS will simply hide among the population of the towns they have captured to make it nigh on impossible to pick them out and destroy them... The coalition will literally have to take on massive numbers of 'collateral damage' that will eventually infuriate the entire Muslim world.
ISIS aint stupid. It is24/7 indiscriminate bombing that will in fact backfire on the US.
This has to be done with ground troops with full help from the Islamic countries providing ground troops to flush them out one by one and execute them without mercy or trial.
Remember Falluja??...... It worked there and only took 3 days and not a single Iraqi terrorist was left alive. So it works, but better if the soldiers are Islamics to minimise backlash..... Also choke the ISIS funding by boycotting all oil from Qatar and Saudi Arabia because they are the main backers and funders of ISIS. This can be done by blocking all their ports, and freeze all Qatar and Saudi bank accounts in the west.

This picture is a mere illustration of the idiocy that 'still' prevails all over Thailand.
-
Lets just hope that there is more going on behind the scenes and the information has yet to be released.
Thais are not stupid so perhaps we just need to give them a little more time to prove themselves before giving up hope.
There is no way they would be stupid enough to not at this stage DNA test Mon and even the son or other family members to see if there is a match. Even with witnesses saying otherwise it still needs to de done. Perhaps the samples they are waiting for contain this information.
Also, for sure they would not be so stupid to not be speaking to this girl already about the blood on Sean's face. Even if his DNA did not match he still could have been involved.
At some point these questions and others will all have to be addressed or for sure it will look like a coverup. The General (PM) will not let that happen as it would undermine all the good he has already done in weeding out corruption.
I hope to hear some good news soon on this matter.
You still clinging to DNA samples as being the thing to prove or disprove this case?
That evidence will certainly have been tampered with before all this talk of DNA sampling even started... The police are not stupid.
I just hope the UK authorities have also taken DNA samples from the body of the female victim and I hope they demand a cross test with the samples the Thai authorities have been working with to see if THOSE match, because I have a feeling those samples being used in Thailand are not the same in the female's body.
I know how it works here..... money has changed hands and there will NEVER be justice.
I hope all this corruption gets exposed, but I doubt it will.

Eighth Region Command commissioner Pol Lt Gen Panya Mamen said Thursday investigators have now excluded the son of the headman Woraphan Toovichien, 49, from the suspect list as he was not on the island when the two Britons were brutally murdered.
He was in Bangkok, police said.
Headman Woraphan earlier announced to offer one million baht cash if the police have substantial evidence to implicate.Obviously the bank transfers have all cleared.
Check the headman's bank account for large cash withdrawals and transfers over the past 2 weeks or especially the past few days.

For those who think these murders will not have an effect on Thai tourism are probably correct.
But this investigation surely IS going to have an effect on it.
Prayuth.... You know how things work here, you know how money buys off your police, you can see for yourself that this investigation is 100% Thai style and not unusual.
Are you not ashamed that now the whole world knows that if you get killed here, there is NO chance of getting justice if the murderer is connected.
The world is getting a true taste of 'Thainess' That us expats are already totally aware of and most of us knew from day one exactly where this was going to go.

He's clearly already paid much more than that to make sure that nothing leads to his door.
If anyone thinks for a moment that DNA samples are going to crack this case, then they don't know Thailand.
Now if it was the British police conducting the forensic testing, I would have confidence, but who even knows if the sample were actually the ones from the victims?
This is Thailand. The cover ups started last Monday, there is no way the killers will be brought to justice if they are related to this man or any other with money and power over justice.

Maybe anyone who donated money can tell us here whether they are satisfied with the way their donation is apparently being used?
Exactly.
I will sometimes throw a beggar 100 baht and tell them to go have a drink.
It's what they are going to do with it anyway.
Their lives are so messed up anyway to be on the streets begging in the first place, and they drink to make the crap go away albeit temporarily. So I am happy to help make the crap go away, albeit temporarily.
The wife hates it. Thinks I am encouraging it, but I don't recall ever phoning someone in advance asking to be sat on the pavement in a certain place and I will be along in half an hour.... They are already there doing it.
Whatever gets you through the day.... It's a shitty life for some.

Can't really condone or criticise this lady. We all suffer the same thing in these sort of places. Where I live it happens at any time of the night not just at 05.30 but 1 , 3 4 it doesn't matter all it takes is a motorcycle to drive through the soi and one dog barks and all the others join in.
I have grown to ignore it and no longer hear it... I think because it happens at a set time every day for you, then your body has come to anticipate it and has developed into a trigger that wakes you up. Try being a bit less anxious about it and I think you will find that if you are relaxed about it, it will slowly stop registering and will likely no longer wake you.
What i do hate however, and it really does come into the category of inconsiderate Thai wan**r... is the tosser who turns up in my street in a pickup at 05.15 Mon to Sat blasting his music at max volume and parks up to pick his workmate up from one of the other houses.... Who i their right mind can enjoy ear splitting Boom Boom Boom at that un-godly hour??? To think that is acceptable to even Thais must be two sandwiches short of a picnic.

Nobody's making excuses for him, but his criminal past has no bearing on the case here has it?
I have the same tolerance for kiddie fiddlers like most fathers with kids has, but I have the same zero tolerance for <deleted> as well!!
Yes it does. What if he was a convicted killer with a major criminal background? Would that be taken into account?
People like this scumbag have warped minds, so each and every step of the day night for eternity, this swines background should be taken into account when it comes to sex offences.
I bet i'm not the only expat who said, "Oh <deleted>" when we found out he's a pedo (doin't bother trying to tell me he's not a pedo, he obviously finds children sexually attractive so the hat fits) as yet again it shines a light on Thailand and it's attraction to scumbag pedos like this person
I'm a firm believer in Judge ye not and ye shall not be judged, I nor anyone else here knows the case of McAnna, so I'll reserve judgement on that one.
If he was a convicted killer with a major criminal background? Um yeah I'd dismiss it too, unless there was anything linking him to the current crime in question..
as I said, I have zero tolerance for kiddie fiddlers, or any other sexual predator mate, but unless there was evidence linking him to the current crime, then no matter what he's done in the past, in the current case, he would be innocent. Not just in my eyes, but in the eyes of the law, you may not like that but that's the law, all your doing is showing prejudice.
Towards a convicted....YES a CONVICTED child porn pedo!!!
You make my skin crawl
To be honest, I think you are being a bit unfair on Fat Haggis here.
No way has he condoned paedophilia and I doubt he ever would being a father and all that.
This case and thread is not about his sexual perversions of which actually make me want to throw up with the next man. But Fat Haggis is in fact quite correct that people like yourself are using this latest negative development to deflect from the case in point.
The victims wer not children, the guy is not a suspect and he was chased down by two adults and not a case of HIM chasing pre-pubescent kids into a convenience store.
Of course we can all feel free to comment on his past degenerate behaviour, put it has absolutely nowt to do with the credibility of his story. There are completely different factors that should be raised to ascertain that. Not whether he was a fiddler.
Please take your anger out on this guy's facebook page like everyone else seems to be doing. But your hijacking of this thread for all the wrong reasons helps nobody.
Fat Haggis is totally correct in what he is saying to you.
Palestinian leader accuses Israel of 'genocide' at UN
in World News
Posted
Notice he didn't mention what he thought of Hamas who routinely fired rockets at Israel then ran away keeping the civilians locked in their homes to take the return fire, and if they left their homes were shot dead.
Many other things.... Google it, there are lots of TRUE Palestinian accounts of what has been going on in Gaza regards Hamas. They are hated more than the Israelis. Even when the Israelis stopped aggression to allow aid in, the Hamas were taking it all for themselves.
Hamas took over their hospitals for their fighters only and left the people with no real medical refuge.
The list is endless. A lot of palestinians actually want Israel to get rid of Hamas so they can go back to work in Israel and earn good money.
Yes.... No mention of that from Mahmoud, but then again he has been installed by Hamas..... He is the real genocidal terrorist. How the hell the likes of HIM has a seat in the UN I will never know.
