You definitely need bank statements that cover 3 months and a (current/ending) balance of at least 20k baht.

Anything beyond that, such as requiring that the balance hasn't dropped below 20k baht within those 3 months, is something I've heard from Vientiane but not from Savannakhet or Phnom Penh. That might be hit and miss.

Most helpful, Caldera, appreciate it. Yep, a 20K min balance throughout the 3 months is really what I'm trying to find out!

  2. Cheers all for the replies so far.

    Some context:

Main bank (savings) account offshore. Send equivalent of 30K baht monthly from that to my Thai account which covers costs and extras for the coming month. So no prob to have 20K+ in my Thai bank account at the time of applying for an SETV, but can't show that amount consistently for 3 months before (plus I keep my offshore account details to myself!).

  3. Update to my own query and a heads-up for others - went to CW, got told by 3 IOs separately (each out of earshot and out of sight of the others) that they wouldn't transfer my current visa extension stamp from my old passport to my new passport. Told me I'd have to apply instead for a second visa extension (the one they reject but you're given 7 days to leave the Kingdom and for which you still have to cough up 1900 baht). Current extension doesn't expire until tomorrow and said to them I was exiting Thailand then, but they weren't having any of it. So left with the current extension stamp still in my old passport. New year, new racket so it seems.

  4. In similar situation and looking for quick sanity check.

British citizen. Bangkok based (for now). Current tourist visa extension stamp (good up to the 25th) in old passport. Recently received new passport. Already arranged border run (via Ban Laem, Cambodia) for the 25th (this Thursday). Have no need of local immigration services before then. And really don't fancy a trip to CW tomorrow to transfer visa extension stamp from old to new passports.

Wondering if taking both my old passport (with current visa extension stamp) and my new passport (with no stamps/stickers) would just be okay?

Been advised immigration at Ban Laem would transfer the stamp but for a price(!).

Thanks muchly for any help on this.

  5. dear TV'ers,

i can't seem to find any recent reports of where to apply for an ed visa extension - is it still done at the immigration office near CM airport or has now moved to promenada?

i did read immigration were planning on migrating the service to promenada within 4-6 weeks but that was back in early september...any confirmed reports would be very much appreciated, thank you
