  1. So, having sex in Thailand is illegal? What about the Mia Noi(s)?

Of course, having sex with one person at a time is ok...even if they are married but having sex with more than one person (adult) at an arranged gathering, is illegal. How strange!

Unless someone can provide written proof, which says that having 'cost free' sex with multiple adult partners in Thailand is illegal, I refuse to believe it.

Making money from any such activity (ie prostitution) is already against the law.

Exactly Mark's point. That is why prostitution is hard to prosecute, because nobody, other than the couple involved, is around to see the business end of the deal going down. That is also why prudish North American authorities use entrapment to catch customers and hookers involved in the trade. Sex by itself is not illegal, but once actual "CASH" is involved then it is somehow bad and perverted. However, for some strange reason, wining and dining a woman for the soul purpose of getting her into bed is not the same thing... even though the same amount of cash (or more) is involved. Buying a woman jewelry is not considered prostitution... even though the intent is to have sex with that woman.

Thanks Ian. Although I don't completely agree with was Mark's original point(s).

Nonetheless, you have backed up the 'common sense' aspect of this discussion, which is seldom found on TV.

  2. Thank You. I mean I have seen this topic come up like 6 or 8 times and I'm tired of saying the same shit over and over again. To everyone who thinks it's cool, no MF's it's not. It's not cute, it's offensive, but without teeth, not like how it would be in America where there is a history of Lynching Blacks because of the colour of our skin. This racism here (amongst Thais) is light and more ignorance based than Hate based. You can see how many haters are here by the complaints about being considerate or PC. PC at is foundation is just about respecting your fellow man. Racists try to blow it out of proportion and make it out to be something ridiculous.

At some point, most people with a sense of humour, eventually start to see the ridiculous side of Political correctness. It is the same with black humour. And, black humour is NOT about race. It's taking something to the extreme, to point out the stupidity of the situation.

    Dear Ian,

I'm sure you are far too polite to say something like 'how many people here are a sandwich short of a picnic'?

But nonetheless, I get your drift.

  3. There is a very reliable, cheap and guaranteed fix to ensure your ride does not tip over. All you have to do is NOT drive it like some Michael Schumaker wannabe <deleted> and you will be fine. Easy really!. No need to fit new suspension or tyres.

Remember it is a utility vehicle not a sports car. :D

    I fully concur.

Any twit with half a brain would already know this. Technology cannot compensate for idiocy. Oops! Previous US presidents may be an exception.

FYI, 'Breathing' info is available at wwww.dumblond.cum

    I just couldn't help myself...555555

  4. Planet X. Ive had a few freaky moments with cigarettes in thailand. Not generaly a heavy smoker, but can hit 80 a day when on holiday, so i guess that increases the chances of getting a dodgy box. Ive had boxes full of mould.

I had similar symptoms to you after a dodgy box of marlboro, addmitedly in lao. Afterwards I realised the box stank of petrol (gasoline) and I think it was carbon momoxide poisoning, which Im fairly familiar with from hanging out at too many car auctions. The cigarretes felt a bit "hot" to smoke and hade a slightlty odd taste. Felt like half my brain was dissolving.

After smoking about three I decided to get a new box.........

    Let's see...

I had similar symptoms to you after a dodgy box of marlboro, addmitedly in lao. Afterwards I realised the box stank of petrol (gasoline) and I think it was carbon momoxide poisoning

Was the pack perfectly sealed in plastic when your bought it?

    I ask this for the following reason;

1] Gasoline (or more correctly put, Petroleum) cannot be be inside a cigarette manufacturing plant. If it was, the plant would explode due to all of the electrical machinery in operation (sparks etc).

2] Mould is not the same as petroleum. Mould is a case of poor plant airconditioning & worsened by vendors who hold the product for long periods of time (low sales). Usually, this situation is likely to occur due to a plant a/c failure, a/c problem or a vendor who has very low turnover.

3] Petroleum quite often melts some plastics & can therefore enter a previously sealed product (obvious holes are usually evident unless you are blind). An accident, outside of the manufacturer's control may have occured & you may have experienced the result of such a thing.

4] Carbon Monoxide is produced by cigarettes normally & in higher than normal quantities (thus the 'high' for some people). I would suggest that 'dry' petroleum (get used to this word...or if you like, petrol) would not necessarily increase the CO (Carbon Monoxide) content. It may, however, add chemicals (unknown) to any already chemically rich mixture. BTW, normal 'bushfire smoke' contains at least 5 000 (5,000 for you nonmetric people) chemicals.

Cigarettes are most certainly harmful to one's health but to blame a packet of cigarettes on a brief undesirable situation, especially when the complainant is a long time smoker, is unfounded.

There are many steps between the multinational, who manufactures the product, & the vendor.

  5. Thailand is yet to be acquainted with 'S bends'. Until then, bad smells will be part of life, unless...

I used to know the contact details of a guy in BKK who sold 'Actizyme'. Actizyme comes in pellets or liquid & really works very well to stop blockages & nasty smells. It takes about a week or 2 to work but once it starts working, you will no longer have problems.

BTW, I have no monetary association whatsoever with this product. As a former Facilities Manager, I frequently used this product (& other similar products) to prevent drain blockages & bad drain odours.

Your solution may be temporary at best if the drain in connected to the septic tank as many are (mine is), and without a P-trap (S-trap) the septic smell (methane gas) will come back up and quite possibly make some people very sick.

If you have any kind of access outside the house before the pipe hits the tank, you can possibly install a P or S trap creating a barrier so the smell/gas doesn't make it back up through the drain......

I just noticed this response (bump).

Something like Actizyme is not essentially a temporary solution as it also encourages microbial growth that can eliminate odours. It is especially effective if used in a septic system.

Nothing can eliminate methane gas from sewage. 'Traps' are part of the answer. Biological solutions are by far the best to solve any 'smelly' situation.

I realise that the op may have disappeared by now but my hope is that people do not discount the advantage of biological solutions over unfounded rhetoric. Quite simply, when your S bend or P trap clogs, what do you do? Using harsh chemicals is not the answer. Biological treatment is the answer. It may take a little time but it works & if one is consistent with such treatment, one will unlikely have clogged drains or bad smells ever again.

  6. Thanks to all for your input.

I´ve decided not to send her the money and advice her to come clean with the finance company.

And as someone suggested, a good spanking may be in order when I arrive in Thailand in about a month

    Allow me to adjust the above reply a little;

"And as someone suggested, a good spanking 'goodbye' may be in order when I arrive in Thailand in about a month."

  7. "needforspeed" has not returned.

    Nonetheless...

    Asumptions:

1] The child in question is YOUR son/child (your sperm).

2] Your girlfriend tells the truth, the whole truth & nothing but the truth, at any point in time.

3] You have varified this information to be correct.

    Suggestions:

1] Ignore such '2nd hand' responses until they are varified.

2] Ensure that the child in question is in fact, your child.

3] Do not rely upon 2nd hand information...especially in Thailand.

4] If you feel that your suspicions are warranted, contact the authorities but preferably not the local authorities...go directly to Bangkok.

  8. In a 'class' based society, such as Thailand, the word 'demeaning' has some meaning.

    I modify the below quote to reflect the real meaning of "gburns57au". My modification is bolded, underlined & in blue;

I find this sort of thing more demeaning to the girls, ping pong balls as well.

It may seem apparent that some of these girls are happy but at the end of the day, they are despised by Thai society. It therefore seems that only a self indulgent prick would hurl cash around to watch the spectacle of the 'low class' grovel to get the cash.

I totally detest such an act as these people are the kind of people who are likely to make money from circuses & human trading.

  9. Marlboro cigarettes in Thailand are imported by Philip Morris, Philippines.

I used to work for BAT (British American Tobacco) in Australia & assuming that a multinational in another country has the same high standards as BAT did (in Australia), I find it hard to believe that the cigarettes were your problem.

It's more likely your health. A good friend of mine quit smoking many years ago. When I asked him why, he told me a story similar to yours. He went to his doctor & the doctor said, "Quit now, while you still have some hope."

    He did 'quit' & has never had another episode of;

    a] heart palpitations.

    b] dizziness.

    c] breathlessness.

    BTW, I am a smoker.

As a point of interest, there are no 'additives' in cigarettes that are made by a reputable company. The only additive is water in the form of steam.

No, I am not a 'shareholder' in any tobacco related enterprise.

  10. In Australia, ALL eftpos (debit) transactions require a PIN. They NEVER require a signature. This has been the case for over 10 years in Australia.

It appears that Thailand has some work to do BEFORE they get close to being considered a 2nd world country.

I will not use any eftpos (debit) unless I use my PIN. I will refuse to sign any document on a DEBIT payment (fear of forged signature).

  12. As an educator in this country (Thailand), I can assure everyone that homophobia is alive & well!

On many occasions, students have verbally denounced another student as being gay. This is usually done with a lot of snickering & laughter whereas in the west, I'd imagine a lot of animosity & hostility.

In my summation, Thai students are new to this kind of discrimination (I think there is a western influence here). I always say something like. "So what! He/she is gay...what's your problem? Anyway, I don't care. You could be Burmese & I would still teach you equally." This usually neutralises the situation.

There are many effeminate guys at my place of work. None of them appear to be victimised, although I may be wrong since I'm not 'in touch' with their personal lives.

Interestingly enough, there are some obviously gay Thai teachers at my place of work. Maybe I'm lucky? Maybe I live in an area of Thailand that seems to have a greater acceptance of gay people compared to other areas?

This whole thing still escapes me!!!

Why are gay people victimised? What did we do? We have little to no desire to reproduce with the opposite sex & therefore we are not a competitor!

I sincerely hope that this movie does provoke a positive image, although the hard line homophobists will never listen to anything.

I've lived through years of torment (self induced & societal) & I hope that nobody has to ever undergo such an awful thing.

  13. I know more than something about 'fuel cells'. There happens to be a multitude of fuel cell types, many of which do not rely on hydrogen as a fuel component.

The main problems with fuel cells are temperature (operating) & weight versus effiency.

Don't forget that fuel cell vehicles are electric vehicles too

A fuel cell is not a 'vehicle', unless your meaning is obtuse.

  14. Well, I take offense to any advertising that involves the 'colour' of anybody (white, black, brown, yellow etc).

I think it's high time that all people who are graphically represented in any advertising, be 'clear' (no colour at all).

  15. Dead people are DEAD!

There is no point respecting the dead because in reality, any respect for the dead is meant for the 'living people' who are associated with the dead.

Also, the media wish to make money out of such a thing. I suggest that the desires of the media in no way reflect the opinion of the public unless it affects 'sales'.

As an example, if your 'loved one' (anybody whom you love) is killed, it is you who demands respect, not the deceased.

It's strange & bewildering why laws are created as a result of this false respect.
