  1. I'm late to this but for anyone else with the same question - if you plan to work with children then yes definitely get the certificate while you're still out there, I'm having a nightmare trying to do it from back in the UK. Your employer will run a DBS check on you but ask for certificates from other countries you've lived in too, as DBS only covers UK.
  2. To update - not having much luck with this. I ended up applying in June. It arrived at the headquarters a week later (I tracked it online). Stupidly, I forgot to include my passport photos, but I received an email from someone there mid July (personal email address but asked for the passport photos for the police clearance certificate, so I assume not a scam), and said I could send a digital copy. Since then, I've had no reply. I've emailed that person again, emailed the police department, filled out the contact form on their website multiple times (which says you will receive a reply within 24 hours).... nothing. I don't want to apply again as I already had to go to Bristol to get two sets of fingerprints (about £150 for the pleasure). My HR department are quite rightly chasing me up on this frequently, and it's difficult trying to explain the reality of Thai time when their website says the certificate will be sent within 25 days!
  3. Hi, Has anyone applied for a police clearance certificate (while in the UK) recently? I've been back in England for two years but I lived in Thailand for ten, and my current job wants a police clearance certificate from my time there. I've looked at the information on the London Thai embassy website - looks like I need to get my fingerprints done here, and then apply by post? Do they really need TWO originals of the fingerprints? They're expensive! £113 for the first set and £57 for a second.. I remember the years of having to supply two of every single document for my visa, so I'm assuming it's correct, but........ hoping for someone to tell me they only needed one and a photocopy! Thanks
