I just mailed my mother's remains to the US via the Thai Post office.  No questions asked, they even helped box up the ceramic vase very well so it wouldn't break.  Cheap.  And arrived in under 3 weeks.  No forms, nothing.

On your customs declaration form what did you put?

I have been told that in The U.K.  If I knowingly label them  incorrectly the customs can/will incinerate them ( no Joke they do this with everything.)

This would cause distress to the family in U.K..

They could not be hear for his funeral/cremation but I was able to Video it, however the final placing of his ashes will be their goodbye.

Seemingly Ashes are allowed in a airline passengers hold baggage therefore, I hope they will allow them to be sent unaccompanied baggage.

I will certainly check at a different Post Office.

MANY Thai's view the ashes along the same vein as Chosts therfore,

this could be just one Post Office worker who does not want to handle them.

My email request to ThaiPost has produced No REPLY.

Thank you for the replies I have received. Food for Thought!

  2.  Cremated persons Ashes/Bones returning to UK Family

Could anybody tell me how to OFFICIALLY and LEGALLY send back part of the cremated Bones/ashes from a friend who recently passed away in Thailand.
I have the death Certificate, I am the Executor of his Thai Will, part of the ashes will remain here, the rest will go back to his family in The U.K.

The courier services and Thai Post have all refused, stating their own policy or Gov. Regs.
Nobody is willing to actually go to the U.K. and take them.

    Thanks
  3. I would recommend you NOT buy a Three wheel model as if you happen to go to fast and turn the wheel too much then over you go.

As they go relatively slowly I would advise anybody to Fit a Pole on the back (An Old Fishing rod is fine) with a Flag on it so people can actually see you clearly and hook up some extra LED flashing lights at the rear

    Three wheeled motorbikes (TRIKES)

which have been modified locally, These are heavier and seem to have a lower C of G,  I have not had any tendency for mine to flip over.

I have one here in Pattaya a PCX 150, great bike but DLT do not allow them so you need to pay a fixer 1500 Baht a year to get around the system, they take a "rubbing" of the engine and Frame which of course are the same as the original as its only the back end that's changed  (but no Photo)

As far as DLT are concerned they are the same as any motorbike that has been illegally changed from the original Spec.

The biggest problem is they are VERY EXPENSIVE.

They have to be steered, you do not lean like a bike. Strange to begin with but easy to adapt, just take it easy. I feel safer on it than a bike.

My lad had a bike accident, ( Not his fault) broken pelvis so he has it at the moment.

You could buy and old NV pickup for the same price and be in the dry with Air CON.

  4. You do NOT say what it is but.... Buy Bubble wrap, Tape scissors and string, Take to Thai Post they have boxes, Take a pen, full destination address and your address.

Tracking system with the number on your receipt.

write the track number in a safe place.

  5. My Lads KtM Duke was run into by a car , the car was at fault, Insurance repairing but ..... now here in Pattaya they say there are no spare parts for KTM in Thailand.

I can get a list of the required spares and bike details,

Does anybody know if spares are available ANYWHERE in THAILAND?

Failing that any other Asean country that can supply.

    Any details will be appreciated

  6. Thanks very much for the information, from all the contributors, I am interested in going Solar, my normal usage is 750 units approx 3,500Baht at least half of that is for the Pool pumps which are on twice a day.

I rarely if ever use the AC,

The batteries seem to be a very high expense within any system, could I use the solar power to run the house and pumps during the day and revert to PEA for night and dull days?

I shall be following your experience with interest.  thanks

Will they choose this moment to bulldoze down ALL the illegal businesses built over the beach in Walking Street ???

Yes Please, all that money spent over MANY YEARS, on countless court cases and multi judgements to tear them down but somehow they cannot get it done.

They are all illegal on the Seaward side of walking Street so they should have no part in any future plans.

  8. If the 300 Baht for all arrivals would stop the petty bickering by the authorities about the cost of the few tourists who require health care then I FULLY support it.

For tourists coming to Thailand from MANY countries they get a 30 day Visa exempt stamp FREE, ON ARRIVAL

How much does in cost a Thai who wishes to visit UK, USA or EU for 30 days?? and the reams of paperwork/Docs required.

For those on a 12 mths Extension of Stay Based on Retirement cost 1900 Baht.

Okay you have to keep 800,000 Baht in a Bank.

How much Paperwork would you require and Hoops to Jump through if you were a Thai trying to Stay for 12 months in EU,UK USA? Prove of Income would be more than 20,000 Gbp

  9. Excellent point, to be wary of, Thanks Vw.

If we get enough good input into this we just may get a protocol that we can all actually work to  BEFORE  any of us comes down with either a Bad cold or Covid , Initially we MAY present to the hospital with the same symptoms.

Luckily I could easily isolate myself within my house from the rest of the family who would still be able to feed me, others living alone may be less fortunate.

I am 70+ a relative youngster compared to some living here.

Was talking about this with someone yesterday. Also wondering whether you, in the case of having a fever, would be taken somewhere without having a say as to where. It's not like the world's population has magically stopped having regular colds and flu because of the Chinese virus; so I'd hate to show up with a cold and be thrown in with a bunch of people who are positive for the virus- something I can see happening here.

It's not really clear what they are treating people with now either. The most recent linked Thai govt information is from the spring and has Chloroquine as the treatment for most cases. There are now better treatments and also way different protocols in the US in terms of ventilators after they learned that aggressive ventilator treatment was actually killing people.

Better for all of us to know how things are actually being handled beforehand just in case we end up exposed and thrown into the system. Here's hoping Sheryl or someone else has some real world info to share in this thread...

  11. Further to this topic of Covid Insurance

    Pattaya Specific

Does anybody know the procedure for FALANGS  who suspect that they MAY have covid.

I am perfectly well but on asking my friends nobody knows anything.

I assume that the authorities would NOT want anybody to turn up to Banglamung or Pattaya City Hospitals, Queue up and wait for a Doctor, (How many could you infect this way)

Where is the Covid facility for the Pattaya Area?

    Perhaps the Naval Hospital??

If anybody actually knows please Post    Thank You  Jamez    Pls move to the Pattaya Forum if that is better

The 1950 bt policy (Plan IS) has 2 million cover for coma, but only 30k medical expenses. Their 850 baht option (Plan 4) has 1 million for coma but 100k for medical expenses.

It seems that the $100k covid insurance required to enter the country for foreigners isn't available for those already here.

I filled in the TGIA online form like I was just about to arrive in Thailand, there premium is nearly 25,000 Baht for the 100KUSD  12 mths coverage but... Like you said ,  for some reason it is NOT available for us already here.

I went with Roojai at 850Baht it gives me some coverage at least .until I can find something better , if anybody does please post it  Thanks Jamez

  14. On further examination I found that Roojai are together with TIPINSURE.com

    Google Tipinsure

If you scroll down on the Tip site they have one more policy at 1950 Baht which is probably at better bet.

AS they say here  "Up to You"

I was looking for a better one at the 5-8,000 Baht premium but there does NOT seem to be any

  15. Send me a PM if you are interested in a 2 bed 74sqM condo in Park Lane , Off Jomtien Beach, a PCX motorbike rent can be included, Many Condo's available in Pattaya up to you where you want to stay.

In the first instance Google Park Lane for Pictures Thanks

  16. Proof of Identity.

I do not know if the Thai authorities actually state that you have to have your passport on you at all times or simply some form of Identity. ie your Aussie Driving licence.

Many Tourist Falangs in Pattaya simply scan the Photo page of the passport, shrink it down to Wallet size, print it out and have it laminated and keep that in your Wallet, most photo shops can do this, I type my contact details on the back.It looks like an ID card.

If you are in serious trouble with the Police it will not matter if you have your Passport on you or not. Carrying your passport around greatly increases your chances of it being LOST or Stolen. If you lose your UK passport in Thailand it is a serious hazzle to get it replaced.

For long stay Falangs with the correct Visa it is well worth getting a Thai driving licence

(even if you don’t want to drive) as this is a legal Thai document with a Photo, address and your passport No. on it.

    Enjoy your Holiday
