I can\t believe how tedious and boring some local lives must be when folks start arguing about bowls of spaghetti.
I'd prefer they argue about bowls of spaghetti to driving drunk around the local area imperiling the lives of men, women, and children.

Rather a lot more than that. I live in Khon Kaen and come to Bangkok once in a blue moon. It happened to be this weekend, and the roads just outside the airport were jam packed.
Because traffic never jams up in Bangkok unless there's a multiple indicted red shirt funeral occurring.

TV24 reporting that red shirts in their 10s of thousands were present to greet Yingluck when she arrived at Apiwan's funeral
well, a hundred anyway

well, by nightfall, two hundred anyway

Most democracies hope that people are at least slightly informed - and if if you think that the war on drugs and the death toll from it were solely Thaksin's responsibility and that others a little closer to the current power centre played no role, you've just failed that test.I like laws that are biased against people who are corrupt, abuse of power, do vote buying and let kill 3000 people in his war against drugs....
You'll find out that most countries laws are biased against such people. Usually they even put them into jail....
It was Thaksin who ordered it and who also was proud of it. And it was the POLICE not the army who did it. The current power is not the police.
And his numerous cases of corruption were solely his responsibility.
Which means neither that the current government is good or bad. It means that Thaksin did many bad things.
You are having difficulty reading between the lines, so I'll lend a hand. He was acting on orders of ______________.
Acting entirely on his own volition.
He claimed responsibility for the original idea, its implementation, its supervision, and ultimately claimed responsibility for its success when he proclaimed that all drugs had been eradicated from all areas of Thailand.
"The government is pleased to announce that the country is now a drug-free area and will proclaim victory in its war on drugs," said Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

A great reception for funeral of a criminal suspect. This reflect the real mind of UDD, a criminal organisation
he was charged after the coup for LM
Go further back in his history for additional, unadjudicated, non-LM criminal charges.

Why go to the Philippines for medical treatment?
It's the back-up hub of medical tourism in SE Asia.... for those facing multiple indictments in the forerunner hub of medical tourism in SE Asia.

"I have been on a quest for the perfect bolognese sauce for 30 years"
It's bolognese sauce not the Holy Grail
Funny that as a result of that quest that he thinks the bolognese citizenry of bologna, italy that invented bolognese sauce and have been making it since the 18th century somehow make an inferior bolognese sauce to one that is found in chiang mai, thailand (of all places).
Amazing Thaivisa.
Funny thing that. I've been all over northern Thailand for the past twenty years but found the absolute best khao soi to die for at a street stall on a back alley near the Santa Maria Novella train station in Florence. Go figure.
Two funnies.

O, Wait a second. I got that wrong.
The only thing you've got right is "O, Wait a second. I got that wrong."

Actually the Thaksin years were some of the best in Thailand.
Budget surpluses, record stock market, low unemployment, health care, slashing poverty. Things were booming.
Even the busses were even running on time.
That's why the invisible hand got rid of him.
The ten tears prior to Thaksin and the 8 years after have been a disaster.
You sure your name isn't Archie Bunker?

BANGKOK: -- All bus drivers of the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) are now required to take drug tests in an effort of the Transport Ministry to ensure safety to passengers.
Implemented 23 years after western countries began testing drivers, but kudos for finally catching up.

Here's the video from a few days ago where he slapped his wife outside his house.
Apparently she came back to the former marital home with their son to collect some of his belongings and the altercation ensued.
Last week she also posted up to Facebook the results of previous 'arguments' between them
Doesn't get much more damning than that.
Thank you for posting.

His Royal Highness has always been explicit in his support on this war on drugs -
In his 2003 birthday speech he praised Thaksin and criticized those "who counted only dead drug dealers while ignoring deaths caused by drugs." He continued "Victory in the War on Drugs is good. They may blame the crackdown for more than 2,500 deaths, but this is a small price to pay. If the prime minister failed to curb [the drug trade], over the years the number of deaths would easily surpass this toll."
With the Lese Majeste laws that currently exist in Thailand I think it would be prudent of admin to remove these slanderous comments, at odds with his majesties wishes.
You mean remove your slanderous, incomplete, out-of-context, un-sourced, un-linked alleged quotes that you cavalierly presume to be speaking his opinion and stating his position, right?

She was PM then acting MP then an ordinary housewife shopping at a supermarket in awe that ready cooked rice meals could be bought.
The billionairess was really tripped up by that glaring guffaw that reflected the distancing of herself from reality.

There is more than a little bit of silliness in your post here mate.
What actual evidence??you are making a lot of statements in your post when all the actual evidence would indicate the opposite
it would appear you are as clever a box filled with air - would you like me to explain or can you work it out for yourself
How about you explain why martial law has yet to be rescinded and why political gatherings are still banned, why the media is so heavily censored, why elections have been canned and why the constitution was scrapped?
From where I'm sitting, there all evidences in support of Boxclevers post.
I will refer you to the first 6 months of this year and how innocent people were murdered shot and blown up in the streets of Bangkok and other places
There have been several surveys done over the last 3 months all show that up to 80% of the Thai people are currently very happy with the situation, I would also refer to Thais that I have spoken too personally and I find the same thing
The only people that seem to be unhappy are those that have been living beyond the bounds of the law and are slowly being reeled in - not unusual in any normal society
The most likely explanation for the majority of the deaths and injuries that occurred during the most recent overthrow of democracy in this land is...
Yellow on Yellow.
unmitigated balderdash AKA BS

The person that ordered the coup is the richest most corrupt person in Thailand. Worth billions and still takes millions a day in public assistance.
Everybody knows that.
Who?

It will also be another news story when the NEW ambassador comes in.
William L Monson would be good.

The propaganda machine
AKA Khaosod News.
-
Once again, Khaosod News is shown to be dishonest and unreliable:
@Thairath_News: Junta's cabinet dismisses the news of forbiding Yingluck as Chairman of Nongkai's rocket ceremony
-
trust kaosod to twist what was actually said, they never said except for thaksin that is simple sensationalism by this crap news team, they said it will stop people like thaksin from abusing their power which is exactly what is needed. No wonder the pm wants pathetic sh*t like this reigned in, they cant help themselves and are trying to create anger in the reds, they need to invent the news to suit their own biased views, what a pathetic excuse for a reporter to write this sh*t.
Excellent assessment of the lying tripe that Khaosod produces and that the red shirts lap it up as gospel.

OK
Sorry, I am new here but I have to ask the moderators... how does a comment like this qualify as a "post".
It doesn't
Thank you for clarifying the guideline. I didn't think it did, either.
