  1. Thanks for that. I saw the Debit Card button but it said something about delivering it to your home so I assumed it was for the physical card only. I see they're going to charge for it after the first free year. I would have thought they'd be doing quite well with the charges they make on all purchases. It also says something about free overseas insurance. I can't imagine flashing your virtual card would get much of a response abroad.

  2. I need to visit a revenue office to update a tax card. Haven't used it for years and it's the old 10 digit type. Does anyone know if I can do this at any office or just the one in my area? Or perhaps the head office is the best option. I'm not working right now but need a new card for a possible future venture. The card I have was issued by the revenue office in Lang Suan and dates from many years ago when I worked in the Ploenchit area.

    Many thanks for any advice.

I did mine at Kalasin last month. Because of Covid I waited and did the new passport transfer, yearly visa extension plus reentry and 90 day report all at the same time.

I did have my yellow book and pink id card with me (which they took copies of) but dont know if they were needed.

They did the visa passport transfer first, so basically just the old passport was needed.

So there's no problem in getting a bank letter with the old passport? Do the issuers stamp anything in it or cut off the corners? Presumably you can't change your bank book until the new pp is updated with your immigration details?

  4. Does anyone know if private dental clinics and hospital departments are operating normally these days? My wife had an appointment with the dental dept of a govt hospital last week and they called up and postponed for covid-related reasons. Is this a widespread phenomenon, or just caution from a govt facility?

Secondly, can anyone recommend a good dentist in the CBD (preferably Silom area)? It's for regular work, nothing too sophisticated (hopefully), just some fillings and perhaps a bridge.

    Thanks.

  5. Thanks for the replies.

I use CW in Bangkok and remember a few years back due to a financial glitch, I had to use a 60-day visit wife extension to bridge two one-year wife support extensions and the 60 days began from the date of application so I lost a few weeks. I assume that was due to change of reason. I thought at the time that 60 day and one year for marriage were pretty much the same but apparently not.

Anyone switched from marriage to retirement at CW recently and encountered any glitches? I can still do the marriage. I don't mind the photos and stuff, but hate dragging myself up to that place.

Also is it true that the appointment system doesn't cover family extensions such as marriage?

    TIA

  6. All this talk about CW demanding TM30 receipts got me wondering.

Is the IO processing your extension request at CW able to see on his/her computer whether a TM30 has been filed? In my case, it's done online by the management of the serviced apartment. When I turn up at CW for my next extension, is it wise to have something in writing?

  7. Need to apply for a 60 day extension for reason of marraige soon and wonder if anyone has experience of this.

Is it a fairly fast and automatic process? It would be nice to think so but you never know.

I plan to take the following:

    passport with copies

    marriage certificate

wife with ID and house registration

    completed form with photo

    1900 baht

    Anything I've left out?

Do they need originals of wife's house registration?

    Thanks for any feedback.

  8. I'm in Bangkok and looking to do a border run at the end of May. I was thinking of flying to Chiangrai in the morning, going up to Maesai and catching the return flight which leaves around 17:10.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on transport. Does anyone know a tour company who could arrange it or could I just come to some arrangement with a waiting taxi driver? Or would it be simple enough to do by public transport? I'll have just under six hours from landing to take off which seems ample.

    Thanks for any advice.

Just check the pinned thread on airport taxis and it doesn't look too promising. Is that 800 baht to Maesai? That's almost as much as the airfare.
