  1. Most or really every hotel i came across had no beer to sell, i stayed near the nana plaza but there was plenty of women for sale around the main nana area, way more than you would normally see for around 2-6pm. But there must have been people selling beer around the nana area and although i never seen them selling there was 15-25 people drinking beer sitting in the bar seats around the nana area drinking so i presume there was someone selling, but maybe they brought their own i cant be sure.

In the end i just had a quiet day, i already had some ass aquired from the days before so i had a sober day with plenty of sex so all in all i enjoyed the kings birthday and one day of the beer is no harm. Long Live The King and may i be there for many more of his birthdays and the queens too of course.

For the people like me who taught everything closed youre wrong, everything else was open except for the bar:

shops, restaurants etc were unaffected even one bar i was in was packed because there was pool going on and food being served, infact you couldnt tell that there was no drink being served unless you scanned the tables, good to see everyone enjoying themselves without drink

Hope this helps but as far as i know the queens birthday is not until approx 25th of july but is there any other non drinking days, amybe someone will list the known days for convienience

    Ill start but please correct

    Queens Birthday July 25th

    Kings Birthday 5th December

What else, i know buddah would be a big day but i have no idea of the dates???

  2. And I would like to wish His Majesty a very Happy Birthday

    Barry

My apologies for getting them mixed up, my thai friend said buddah day by mistake so i figured the 2 were linked, i did realise it was the Kings Birthday as ive seem the many posters etc appearing over the last few days, she didnt know the correct translation but im new enough to Thailand so im still learning, but i do know it is very important but my questions still is

Does absolutely everything close that day or will there be anything to do at all, dont necessarily have to get drunk but if there is nothing else to do that day i might as well stock up on the beer and have a few in the hotel, bit like Good Friday in Ireland i suppose. Anyone any idea's???

    Cheers

  3. Hello,

Buddah Day on Deceber 5th, im told everything closes, i mean everything bars, girls, shops etc is this true and whats the chances of getting a drink in the hotel im staying in or will i hav to stock up the fridge.

Also is there anything at all i can do to avoid boredom on that day, i will be in bangkok

    Cheers

  4. Thanks Dragon, good to get some advice from someone that has knowledge of the industry and your information was backed up by this email i recieved from citizens advice in the uk

I have contacted the Child Support Agency in connection with your question about help and was told the following.

You and your child live outside British jurisdiction and are not in recite of Child Benefit for your child.  This means that you are not entitled to any benefits under the British Goverment.  As your child was born in Thailand and not in Britian they are not a British Subject even if the fathers name is on the birth certificate.  I am sorry to bring bad news but I am afraid that there is nothing further I can do as you do not live in Britian.

So that answers my question. Thanks

  5. You never know. Even the good old 'solicitors letter' may well do the trick.

I likeGuest Houses's advice to try a women's rights group. They may well take up her cause.

''I would also proffer that him being listed the father (officially, if not legally) on the birth certificate would at least provide a modicum of evidence in her favor.''

I'm not too sure of the Thai system but in the UK being named on the birth certificate doesn't actually prove paternity. Its merely a registration document.

Anyone know of a womens rights group that might help in the uk that has a website, ive done a search but i cant find one specific to Child Support only ones for child abuse etc

    Cheers

  6. Are there such entities in the UK like The Thai Law Society or Legal Aid and/or Law Societies in the USA that provide legal advice either free or "pro bono" as they say in the USA?

That would be a possibility for her even if she is a non-UK citizen.

I would also proffer that him being listed the father (officially, if not legally) on the birth certificate would at least provide a modicum of evidence in her favor.

i have contacted a few agencies and solicitors and will update any feedback, alot of conflicting answers so it would be nice to get the prospective of someone in that business, also Professorfart/Guesthouse and anyone else who replies it would be helpful when answering to say where the information is sourced from or whether it is just your opinion, might prove useful when someone is reading the thread.

Thanks again for all your help

  7. She can take legal action in a British Court for maintenance of the child, provided she can prove two things:

The court has jurisdiction - if the alleged father is in the UK, or he has an substantial property/funds in the UK the court will have juristiction (Substantial = earned income/house/pension etc)

The father has at any time accepted being the father. Signed any document, including letters.

The court is able then to award maintenance, failure to pay maintenance can then be used as a reason to attach earnings.

Neither the mother nor the child need to be present in the UK to make that claim

You should adress this question to a UK lawyer and/or a UK women's support group. Citzen's advice will give you more details.

Thanks Guesthouse an incouraging reply, well hes in the U.K but used to make alot of extended trips to Thailand and wheter he does again remains to be seen, he hasnt a job in the U/K because he was in Thailand for a few years but he had a substancial amount of cash enough to allow him to spend £200+ a day without a job in Thailand, wheter he has a job or not now in the U.K im not sure and wheter he still has a substancial amount of cash left i would imagine so.

On the Father signing any documents i dont know i will have to check with my friend, maybe he wrote a letter or signed something during the pregnancy stage while he was still with her, would being able to prove they lived together before and after the pregnancy be any good.

Well thanks for the info and i will follow it up with the people you suggested.

    Thanks

  8. So she would first need to go to a lawyer to force him to have a dna test. Then if she won the case she would need to go back to the courts and try and make him pay child support because she would then have proof he was the father. Is this the correct way.

BTW. No win No Fee is a load of <deleted> as well even in civil cases.

Explain more, ive had a case handled myself no win no fee and i didnt pay one cent until after i won the case. Can you explain why you think this???

    Thanks for all the replies

  9. When the baby was registered in Thailand she wrote down his name as the father but how can she prove that he is the father if he wont agree to take the test.

I figured that would be part of the case that the Father would take the paternity test to prove if he was or wasnt the Father, can he be forced to take the test or does anyone know a lawyer in the U.K that work no win no fee basis that she could contact by email as phoning one would be too expensive.

If the paternity test was done what difference would it make whether the baby was registered as a Brit or not as this would prove he was the father after all if someone was trying to avoid paying child support why in their right minds would they register themselves as the father.

Also if the case was won in the U.K could the father then move to Thailand and avoid paying the child support and vice versa if the case was won in Thailand.

  10. Hello,

Im writing on behalf of my Thai friend. She met and moved in with a guy from the uk and she got pregnant in Thailand, he has plenty of money and promised to look after the baby but after she was 8 months pregnant he came home with another lady and threw her out. Since then he has given her not one cent, he keeps in touch usually to abuse her by text and has made several attempts to get back with her but still refused to pay anything. Does not dispute the baby is his and even said he looks like him. Now she has to work to take care of the baby and has to borrow money to send home for her baby because she dosent have enough.

Does anyone know if she can legally follow him in the U.K for child support, she dosent really want to do this but she really has no choice. Only thing is she dosent have money for a lawyer (do they work on a no win no fee basis) and shes not sure how it would work because she is in Thailand and the lawyer would be in the U.K presumably, also is it possible to get back the child support in a lump sum for the 8 months he has already not supported her as this could help her get out of debt. Again shes not greedy and she does send money home to look after the baby but she just needs a small bit from the father so she dosent fall deeper into debt, ideally she would not like to go through the courts but even when hes baby was in hospital he refused to pay anything so she has no choice, he has plenty of money but prefers to spend it on drugs and ladies in Thailand rather than hes flesh and blood, hes currently in the U.K but usually visits Thailand for long periods.

Hope someone has been through something similar or has some information that could help. Thanks

  11. 70 yards to the pin.. hey that's the Gymkana Club.

There's two Crazy Golf places. One near the Thai german Brewery and the other on the side of the Ping way at the bottom of Chang Klan Road.

    Hi Lamphun,

    Gymkana??? Tell me more!!!

Which is the best of the 2 crazy golf places, which would you recommend or would you reccommend them at all???

Also how much in a tuc tuc from the chuan puak rd near the college???

  12. Hello,

I read somewhere on the TV Forum that Chiang Mai has a Mini Golf/Pitch & Putt Course, is this true and if so where is it. I was hoping for something pretty basic i.e 70 yards to Pin, just a bit of fun as im not a serious player and ill probably be bringing the TGF so i dont want her to get bored too quickly if the course is too dificult. Any info on the course including average pin distance and directions would be very helpful and prices too. Also do you get your own caddy like when you play golf????

Lastly is there any crazy golf courses in Chiang Mai???

    Thanks

  13. I swim at the Princess Hotel Road near the golden star hotel.  70B per day.  Smallish pool open at 10am.

I hear that chiangmailand has a big pool as well. :o

Tried the Lotus Hotel located near the Central Shopping Centre and they only allow for members to enter pool, 1200 baht for the month so they must have changed there 100 baht a day policy???, looks a fine hotel but i never got as far as the pool because i wasnt paying for a month. Then went to Chiang Mai Land sports centre and that was a fine pool, has one big pool with a shallow end for kids about 1/5th of the size of the pool and the rest is deep. They also have a small pool for kids just beside the main pool. Probably wouldnt be any good for people serious about swimming but for someone that just likes to take a dip or bring the family out for the day it would be spot on. Also has a restaurant and bar but you cant bring food or drink poolside which is a bit of a shame, restaurant has nice food and very reasonable prices, singha only 35 baht. Also they provide lockers for 20 baht but they dont allow you to bring bags poolside either, a towel, camera etc is ok but no bags allowed, seems silly to me but maybe there is a good reason.

Only 50baht for the day regardless of wheter your farang or thai but there is also yearly memberships which were great value, kids 200 baht for the year but im not sure what the fee was for adults i think either 300 or 500 for the year, even if you were here for the month 500 baht is great value. There is also about 6 tennis courts there but im not sure if they are extra or not, the people using them seemed to be kitted out in proper tennis gear so maybe its membership.

Getting There: It cost 80 Baht from Central Shopping Centre but its a good distance out. Not sure exactly where it is but its not too far from the Airport Plaza Central Shopping Centre.

  14. Hello,

Hope this is useful. Please see attached documents for details of the bus service available in Chiang Mai, Thanks to Bambina for translating. The word Doc contains the bus routes and times and the jpg contains the map

Could be worth pinning this one if they dont change the schedule for buses in Chiang Mai too much??

    Thanks

    Enable Automatic Image Resizing

For anyone using internet explorer to view the large image if it resizes it to fit the window after loading and you dont want this (because the map would be too small)

    Goto TOOLS>Internet Options>

Click on the advanced Tab and under the MULTIMEDIA section untick the ENABLE AUTOMATIC IMAGE RESIZING

If your using firefox its pretty similar, think its under internet options and advanced aswell but correct me if im wrong

  17. ....its a mobile #

However, it could well be a person calling from overseas. A telephone company overseas maybe using a specific 'relay station' provider here in Thailand and an odd number will show. I'm sure a tec guy will explain it better.

Conclusion, don't think or worry too much.

Ok thanks hopefully someone in the business might spot this. Just to clarify this same number is both in Dialled numbers and Recieved Calls over a period of time, just was under the impression you had to have + before the number to dial out of Thailand on a mobile. Thanks

  18. Hello,

Here is a number in a Thai phone 052308xxx when i seen this number first i taught it was a mexican number i.e +52 is the mexican code but then i figured out that mexican numbers would be 12 digits and would be in the format +52308 in the phone. So i figured maybe its a Thai number because this is the format it would be in, but looking at some online resources i cant find a city code in Thailand beginning with 052, 053 is Chiang Mai but cant seem to find one with 052, does this look like a Thai number or not????

Hope you can help as i was led to believe this person was abroad??

  19. Hi,

Just looking for some ideas of how to pass the time in Chiang Mai other than drinking. Will be with tgf so might try things like bowling, cinema, amusement parks, that sort of thing. Not much interest in the jungle trekking etc

Hope someone has a few interesting ideas
