I just went on the site and it is working.

Many have been able to do their reports using it.

I have tried 20 times from Chiang Rai. Wasted time. A great many more have failed to access it,

from reading responses here. TWO YEARS- and it still is NOT working for the majority.

    QUOTE__ Immigration Division 1
    bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/base.php?page=90days
This site may harm your computer.
Notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days. Procedure and notification.

This minute I went here-- https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online/online/tm47/TM47Action.do;jsessionid=RMvsB5pO1MqyWqY3NOHuQ7bV03l9gF9PM-T8WYi1_wiZ0q723VxG!805998454

And for the first time EVER, the request page came up!

But as I did my 90day at immigration YESTERDAY it can't try it out. How ironic!

  2. Online; at Big C; at Central Plaza; at Police Stations; at 7-11's.

Is ALL fairy dust as far as I can tell. NONE of these work as of Nov 2017 after YEARS of promises.

Don't waste any time, you MUST go to Immigration Office near airport; God knows why Thai

authorities make these false claims... I have tried all of them including the IE based online

app which again, is not working.

I am a Bank Bangkok customer, we have in Thailand at Bank Bangkok a sterling account, we transfer to BBL in London and no intermediaries costs, we loose about 500 batt when money arrives in Thailand

We can then sell online and credit our Thai batt account as and when we choose works well

I also have a BKK account- are you aware that they charge a fee of 2% of the cash in your Sterling account?

  4. Sorry to hear that. The same happened in Turkey when I used a Bank Cheque issued in Australia; it took 5 WEEKS to 'process' and cost me £500 in lost interest, charges and fees. Cheque had to be returned to Oz bank for 'certification', then to Turkish bank in Istanbul before reaching my branch in Dalaman.

Thus my claim "Banks are pr*icks".

Take the money and run; just remember to fill in a customs clearance form in country of origin, and make a photocopy...KEEP the orib

  5. Since Brexit, with the GBP falling I am trying to transfer £40k IN STERLING so that it can be stored until [?] the £ recovers, or THB falls.

I DO NOT NEED TO CONVERT TO THB AT THIS TIME.

Bangkok Bank tells me they make a 2% charge for having a Sterling Account- some £800 a year, if my maths is correct! OUTRAGEOUS, IMO.

My sister is a signatory to my UK account so withdrawing the cash in person is possible. Now I try to find a way to mail it, with insurance against loss.

ON-line of FX transfer is a no-go because conversion to THB is automatic. Have tried Bank Drafts before- they take WEEKS, no matter what banks tell you,

plus fees amount to financial theft. Telegraphic transfer- again, conversion is automatic.

At worst I will have a holiday in UK and do the necessary myself.

Conclusion- banks are basically pricks.  Take your money and go. Only 100% sure way to do it.

  6. For my car change of ownership/registration AND my Thai driver's licence

I was told to get a Residence Certificate from Immigration, which defines

my address at a condo in Chiang Rai.

This took 2 weeks and cost 200 Baht.

Apparently the immigration officer [or police] contact the claimed address to

    confirm.

SO, what is the point of this 'Yellow Book' and would I qualify for one?

So much 'advice' on line is mere opinion and sometimes out of date.

Mind you, so is official Thai website info!

  7. Hello, Cosmo! Nice quote from Burke. Bertrand Russell is my favourite...

Terming the CB300F a 'performance bike' is a HUGE stretch; don't get me wrong, I will buy one after riding a friend's 300 for 30 minutes.

Had intended the CB500F but now feel the extra 36% cost is not justified for me, a single rider.

Beautiful machine, both to look at and to ride; light, nimble, smooth [for a single], quiet, excellent clutch, gearbox, motor and frame.

[The 400 four I tried felt like a lumpy dinosaur in comparison and that it is the bike I LOVED in my youth].

One small criticism- first gear is too low, riding slowly in traffic is a bit demanding; online it is suggested that a 15 tooth front sprocket

is the answer, replacing the 14 tooth OEM sprocket. I think/hope these numbers are correct!

Performance bikes start at 600cc, IMO and reach the summit with the BMW R1000RR... Not that I could ever aspire to that level of excellence!

  8. JIMJFOX I Feel your pain (frustration) . Last month I was in Melbourne for tax and to obtain non imm o visa.

The Melb Thai consulate web site states you can obtain this visa for various reasons. One is to visit friends etc.

They then tell you that they do not .....only do non imm o based on visiting spouse/family. Official website is still incorrect.

Apparently if you post application to Brisbane they issue them.

Bit like my bar. Rule number 1..... There are no rules.

Actually that's wrong, there are many rules just no consistency.

    Thanks Jack

I went to Brisbane Consulate in 2008 and 2010 and was issued visas within the hour on both occasions.

However, they were tourist visas (90 day) so I'm wary that the process may be different for the so-called

'Retirement Visa', plus that rules change and the website is so lacking in clarity.

    Thanks...

  9. Jack

No binding necessary. The key word in the instructions issued by the Embassy in Canberra (see link below) is "OR" - "The documents must be bound and notarized by a Notary Public person OR witnessed/certified by a Justice of the Peace (JP)"

If you choose the JP option (and you'd be crazy not to considering the cost of a Notary Public's services - mine charged me $360 and told me he was giving me a discount!) the binding and notarising bit becomes irrelevant. It's something only Notary Publics do, not JPs

    Hope this helps,

    Graham

You saved me a heap of cash AND inconvenience! WHY can't the Thai website be kept up to date, I wonder?

Will try the link another day- "Website not available".... typical w00t.gif

  10. Thanks to all!

One thing leant is that a JP can witness the application; even though the data I posted states JP is NOT acceptable.

This is why I posted all that 'bumpf', to show how one can be misled, either by the rules or by well-meaning replies...

You can only apply for the OA visa at the embassy or the consulate in Sydney. The other consulates are honorary consulates and cannot accept the application.

Apparently the main Thai embassy is CANBERRA. I think all applications go thru there?

Good news about the return ticket- that is not made clear in the application documents...

  11. Hi all,

Trying to navigate the bureaucratic maze--

    Documents required
Documents required are 3 sets [ONE ORIGINAL SET and 2 PHOTOCOPY SETS]
ALL SETS must be BINDING and NOTORIZED BY NOTORY PUBLIC if add on notorail certificate please do it on back page only (JP Justice of Peace not accepted) } Required documents EACH SET to be combined with: (APPLICATION FORM A must be the first page of each set)
A passport with validity not less than 18 months
A set of original documents consisting of the following:
A completed and signed visa application FORM A with one photo (3.5x4.5 cm.) taken within last 6 months without wearing glasses or headgear (photocopy not accepted) attached to the application
A copy of passport personal detail page
    A completed Personal Data Form;
    A copy of a bank statement showing a deposit at the amount equal to no less than 800,000 Baht, or an income statement (an original copy) with a monthly salary of no less than 65,000.00 Baht, or a deposit account plus monthly income of no less than 800,000 Baht a year;
    A letter from a bank or financial institution (an original copy) confirming sufficient funds;
    A police name check certificate issued no longer than 3 months prior to submitting the application; A medical certificate indicating that the applicant has no prohibitive diseases as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No.14 (B.E. 2535) issued no longer than 3 months prior to submitting the application;
    Important note:
    1. When you have prepared all the original documents as required above, you must then make 2copies
of each document. (Photos and signatures must not be photocopied)
    2. After you have made copies of all the documents, you must separate the documents into 3 sets.
Within these sets, arrange the documents in the order given above. All together you will have 1 set of
the original documents and 2 sets of copies of the original documents.
    3. After the 3 sets of documents have been prepared, you must then take them to a Notary Public to
bind and notarized each set of documents (the documents must only be binded by the Notary Public).
    Visa application processing fee
The visa application processing fee is AUD$ 225
    Validity of visa
The validity of visa is 12 months with multiple entries.
    Validity of stay
Upon arrival, you will be allowed to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 12 months.
**However, the period of stay granted is at the discretion of the immigration officer.** (WHAT???)
    * [bINDING and NOTORIZED BY NOTORY PUBLIC if add on notorail] should read "BOUND and NOTARISED BY NOTARY PUBLIC; if a Notarial Certificate...."
The financial requirements are OK but need both UK and Australian Pensions and bank statements, plus (I assume) Certified Pension details. Painful.
Some commenters say that I then have to leave and re-enter every 90 days- surely NOT? Perhaps I have to report to immigration/police every 90 days? Do I have to have a return ticket on this visa and if so, does it have to be to country of origin?
Does anyone know if taking the papers to an Embassy or Consulate expedites the process?
Looking ahead, is 'normal' procedure to renew every year? And does this mean going thru the torture each time??
