In Chinese culture, if you empty your plate it is a criticism of your host for not providing enough food.

Same tradition in my father's family, he always left one pea on the plate. Drove my mother crazy, her family ate everything. All 100% Devonshire (England) people. So these opposing 'cultures' are not confined to China and Thailand.

You might want to try checking the rules...........................I am not aware that any insurance is required for a Non-O visa.

Try applying for the visa! (Maybe it's changed since I tried in August. The point is that not all of the requirements are shown on the web-site - you don't know/can't see all the rules until you actually apply)

What does education do if people don't care? Thai people know right and wrong but they don't care. Following the rules is inconvenient so why bother if there are no consequences?

Thai people? It's all nationalities. Everyone. Just look and you will see many Europeans/North Americans/Australians and other non-Thais also blatantly breaking the rules. It's about failure of enforcement. Which in turn is a failure of Government.

If you are unhappy about the County's Laws, I would suggest that you don't come here - simple!

Totally agree. That's why I didn't resume my 2x3months a year in Thailand until now. Two and a half years away from my friends in CM. But even now the 'O' visa requires 7 or 9 uploads, including the disgraceful compulsory health insurance that you can only purchase from one of a list of Thai companies. I refused to pay this (I had been coming on an 'O' visa for over 10 years), so this trip is on a multi-entry Tourist visa.

  5. My lovely Thai lady-friend wanted to go to the "Wine and Steak" restaurant. Its sign shows a bottle and glass of wine. But she couldn't remember where it was. "No problem" I said, I'll google it. Couldn't find it despite many tries and combinations, so gave up. Several days later we found it by accident. There it is, she said. And there indeed was the sign with the bottle and glass, and restaurant name, Why Steak.

This is very useful and interesting for me thank you. (I am British).

I would point out though that it has a 2564(2021) date at the top. I have found Thai Embassy London sites to be often out of date, i.e. not updated for the numerous and ongoing changes and flip-flops announced by the Thai Government over recent years. You need to check with your Thai Embassy or a reliable agent who keeps up with the changes to Thai visa, covid, insurance, financial and other entry requirements.

    Good luck

    within?

within 3 months of which jab, 1st or 2nd? Many of us Brits will have had both jabs by the end of April this year. Almost none of us will want to visit Thailand in the rainy season. For many years, I have spent most of the UK autumn and winter in Chiang Mai; September to March. Now I learn that my January and April 2021 vaccinations will be invalid in Thailand this autumn. I am not prepared to spend 2 weeks and £2k in quarantine. Cyprus is a tempting alternative.
