  1. Amazing Thailand!

Or whatever crap they're saying now.

With all do respect to the person's health and bad experience,

how someone can DISCOVER that the visa has expired ??? You are in a FOREIGN country and its your sole OBLIGATION to keep track of that,

and then - a WEEK !!!! after a release from the hospital ???

Really sorry for your terrible experience though ... I guess its fully your fault,

the cops don't look for a reasons or excuses - expired visa - just another case, same procedure ....

    Amazing Thailand -

  2. As far as I know tourism does not have a time limit on it.

If you settle down somewhere, you are not a tourist anymore.

"A tourists is someone who travels out of their usual environment for less than one year. they travel for liesure, recreation, or business purposes."

I"m not settled anywhere I"m moving around spending lots of money here on everything but bargirls. and planned to do so for a year.. what am I?

    a bum ?

There are a couple of things that concern me with regards to what you have posted.

Generally, student visa holders can bring dependent members of their family to live with them in Australia for the duration of their course. The person (known as a student dependant) must meet the definition of a member of the family unit.

For the purposes of a student visa, a person will only be assessed as a member of the family unit if they are the married or de facto spouse, or dependent child of the visa holder. Based on the very limited information you have provided, I am not confident that your boyfriend would meet the definition of a de facto spouse.

Secondly to be accepted as a de facto spouse, you both must have been living together in a genuine and exclusive relationship for at least 12 months immediately before the application unless the applicant can establish compelling and compassionate circumstances for the grant of the visa.

Whilst I am of the opinion that your boyfriend would not meet the definition of a de facto spouse, I feel it necessary to mention Regulation 2.07AF of the Migration Regulations. It is a requirement for initial student visa applicants to include the details of all dependant family members whether or not they were applying as a student dependant to visit Australia as well. If not they will not be eligible to come to Australia as dependants after you have arrived in Australia. Also student visa holders who fail to disclose family members in their visa application may also have their visa cancelled.

Please feel free to PM or contact me through my website for more information on Australian student visa requirements.

    Regards

    bridge

    Thanks bridge,

but as per info from the embassy they encourage to lodge the application based on the grounds (boyfriend)

of course the documentation is required and as we did not leaved together before will be hard to obtain (except emails and photos or my previous visit visa to the kingdom)

besides I'm realy wondering if there will be success as the fees are high (same as student visa plus medical check etc)

    regards

  4. Hi everyone,

I am a EU national studying in Australia - currently in Bangkok

and trying to apply for an Australian dependant visa for Thai boyfriend,

visited the embassy already and got all the info,

one problem might be with proving our relationship (over 3 years)

    but mostly long distsnce (Australia-Thailand),

each time visited Thailand - spent holiday together - pictures etc. but not dated,

the only other prove may be emails saved from over the 3 years (accepted according to the embassy employee),

Does Anyone had a similar experience with application ??

ALL coments and advice will be appreciated

    Thank you

The pictures and emails will help. Do you have any old phone bills with anything on them? What about old air tickets, hotel receipts etc. If you got any e-tickets, you might still have them in your email somewhere.

Just a thought, you say it's your boyfriend, but you want a dependants visa? Surely a dependant is a wife/husband/children? If your relationship has been long distance and you are nto married, how can he be your dependant?

    Thanks for reply,

As per info from the embassy I will be responsible for covering all the costs (insurance including ) and he will be my dependant

  8. Your real opportunity would be as an editor, but I mean you have to be really good, have a great show reel with references to back it up, etc...

If that's the case, hit up the major post houses; Oriental Post, Soho, Post Bangkok, Finito, just to mention a few.

As a local cameraman serving the local market, you'd be wasting your time. If you can hook up with interntational producers needing someone based here, but still wanting Western talent, that's another matter.

    Good Luck

    Thx a lot :o
