The more I read articles like these, the more i understand the alcohol bans. I don't like the bans, but I understand why.

When I'm in Thailand and I need to find a 7-11, I just look out the window. Chances are I'll see one.

Spend all that money on security and neglect the basic cheap option of a set of decent deadlocks or padlocks. Rather a shortsighted policy to my mind.
Who said I don't have deadlocks? All my doors and windows have multi-lock system with deadbolt locks. If they have to force one door open, or break one of the insulated 2.5 x 1 meter glass panels, it cost me same as one of the flatscreens inside the house.
Getting over the 2 meter wall to get inside is one thing, and they will not be able without triggering the alarm, getting away with a 60" 70kg plasma is another thing because the only way is over that 2 meter wall again, as they will be unable to open the gate even from inside.
I have such a feeling though that they will never try to steal one of the doors or windows.
And no I don't fear a burglary, as another poster suggested, I have the security system as a prevention, and only try to figure out what will be the most economic for me in the event that they come over the wall.
Will the locked doors buy me time, and eventual see the burglars leave, or will the locked doors just be a cause of extra damage.
So where do you live (exactly) and when do you go to work?

Many of us who travel a lot refer to places by their airport codes, yes HGK is Hong Kong, BKK is of course Bangkok, CNX Chiang Mai.
Is it lazy? Perhaps. Is it acceptable? IMHO - Yes.
Do you write etcetera in full?
What an arrogant attitude. Sounds like showing off to me.
Not to me. I do the same. I would assume (wrongly I guess) that most people that have traveled anywhere by plane would have a familiarity with airport codes.

Maybe it's because HK is more about business and Thailand is more about escaping the west.

The only place that British police have jurisdiction is in Britain. They have no legal authority at all in Thailand.
Imagine the hoo haa if a Thai was murdered in the UK and the Thai government expected expected the UK to surrender all legal authority to a couple of visiting members of the RTP.
I don't believe anyone is asking for Thailand to surrender legal authority to anyone. Perhaps I missed something?

Was at Emporium Starbucks recently when a French guy groped a hot looking Thai girl (accompanied by her faring bf). Whoa!!! The scene it caused. I thought the bf was going to kill the Frenchy. Pushing, spitting and screaming. I left before I was asked to bear witness.
Some guys just don't get it. Thats not behavior that one should do even in a gogo.

Trillian,
No one come to Thailand for a hotdog, but he's putting it in perspective. It's the big picture. Do you not get that?
